Leslie:

I think Nina has a good suggestion regarding calling
the phone. You can also have people text message your
phone as well. The person may read the text messages
since this does not require speaking into the phone.
I recent lost my cell phone at Jewel Grocery Store
when grocery shopping. Since I use my cell phone for
rescue and the rescue group business, I get alot of
phone calls. Well after a short period of time, one
of my friends call my direct home number and told me
that my cell phone was at Jewel. I did not even
notice that I had lost the cell phone. I just thought
that it was being a quiet night?? You see my cell
phone ringer for caller I.D. is a recording of six 10
day old baby kittens screaming to be feed. So say the
least, Jewel was delighted to hear from me and that I
was coming to get the phone. The phone was driving
them crazy and Jewel's customer service text message
my friend that I had lost my phone. That night was
busy with phone calls that was screaming baby kittens
to be feed!

So maybe the person that took the car may get curious
about all the phone calls and text messages. Maybe
the person will try to read the text messages and see
they are about the cats. I know it is a long shot but
it happen to me!

P. S. Another suggestion would be to offer a reward
for their safe return in the text messages.

with me (they love him and his dog, and I don't like leaving them).
Monday mornings I pack everything up including the cats, go back
in to say goodbye to Ed, and then drive the 20 minutes home.

This morning I loaded in my groceries, my school books, the cats,
go back in kiss Ed goodbye, grab my breakfast in a tupperware from
the fridge and go back outside to find someone in my car backing it
out of the driveway. The doors were unlocked, but there was no key
inside it, so they must have hotwired it. I ran at the car backing
up, yelling, hey and get out and banging on the windshield, I
in fact, smashed the tupperware against it, having no other weapons
(eggs went everywhere), but they kept going. I yelled that there
are cats in there, but they didn't stop. Ed heard me yelling and
by the time I got back inside, he was on the phone with 911.

As indoor cats they don't wear collars, though both are
microchipped. They ride well in the car as long as they're loose,
so they were loose. I don't know which is more likely, them to get
thrown out, or to be kept in. Satch is probably talking the
thief's ear off because he didn't get fed before we left. I am so
scared that they'll have been thrown out. Satch is a big guy, was
found on the streets, he can handle what is likely to present
itself to him, but the kittenoh you guys, I'm so scared.

I would have thought they'd be a theft deterrant.

He threw my book bag out the window across from a nearby park, I
have no idea why that item of all that he could have (my overnight
bag, grocery bags, etc), and figure that it's God's way of saying
that even through this stress I still have to study. ha.
Ironically the 20 lb biology book was probably the most valuable
item in the car, not that its street value would amount to much.

Naturally, I've spent the morning searching that area to see if
the cats might have been tossed there, too, but haven't found
anything. Satch knows his name and comes to it, so I hope that
 they at least stay together.

Pray that the police call ( I have Ed's cell phone, mine was in
the car, but maybe they'll be able to use it's tracking device to
locate it ), and pray that they have good news. Picture Satch and
Beatrix oblivious to my concerns and sleeping on the back seat, or
hanging out on a nice porch waiting for me to find them. Pray that
they not be stressed, but get back to me after a harmless adventure
on their end. please pray that I see them again and that they are
 unharmed.

  Thank you all so much,

OT: Power of positive thoughts today!

2006-10-17 Thread Belinda

I'm a big believer in the power of positive thinking and today
is a very good day to put that into practice. Let's all think Leslie's
babies will be reunited with her safe and sound today.

A Cosmic Trigger Event will occur on the
17th of October 2006.

By Raphiem/Blue

This is the beginning, one of many trigger events to come between now
and 2013. An ultraviolet (UV) pulse beam radiating from higher
dimensions in universe-2 will cross paths with the Earth on this day.
Earth will remain approximately within this UV beam for 17 hours of
your time.

This beam resonates with the heart chakra, it is radiant fluorescent in
nature, blue/magenta in color. Although it resonates in this frequency
band, it is above the color frequency spectrum of your universe-1 which
you, Earth articulate in. However due to the nature of your soul and
soul groups operating from Universe-2 frequency
bands it will have an effect.

The effect is every thought and emotion will be amplified intensely one
million-fold. Yes, we will repeat, all will be amplified one millions
time and more.

Every thought, every emotion, every intent, every will, no matter if it
is good, bad, ill, positive, negative, will be amplified one million
times in strength.

  What does this mean?

Since all matter manifest is due to your thoughts, i.e. what you focus
on, this beam will accelerate these thoughts and solidify them at an
accelerated rate making them manifest a million times faster than they
normally would.

For those that do not comprehend. Your thoughts, what you focus on
create your reality.

This UV beam thus can be a dangerous tool. For if you are focused on
thoughts which are negative to your liking they will manifest into your
reality almost instantly. Then again this UV beam can be a gift if you
choose it to be.

Mission-1017 requires approximately one million people to focus on
positive, benign, good willed thoughts for themselves and the Earth and
Humanity on this day. Your thoughts can be of any nature of your
choosing, but remember whatever you focus on will be made manifest in a
relatively faster than anticipated time frame. To some the occurrences
may almost be bordering on the miracle.

All we ask is positive thoughts of love, prosperity, healing, wealth,
kindness, gratitude be focused on.

This UV beam comes into full affect for 17hrs on the 17th of October
2006.

No matter what time zone you are in the hours are approximately
10:17am on the 17th of October to 1:17am on the 18th of October.

The peak time will be 17:10 (5:10pm) on the 17th October.

You do not need to be in a meditative state through out this time,
though that would be beneficial. The main key time no matter what time
zone you are in will be the peak time of 17:10 (5:10 pm). Perhaps at
this time if you can find a peaceful spot or location to focus. The
optimum is out in the vicinity of grounded nature,
likened to that of a large tree or next to the ocean waves.

Focus on whatever it is you desire. What is required for the benefit of
all Earth and HUmanity is positive thoughts of loving nature.

We call this UV beam trigger event, "818" gateway.

Please forward this message to as many people as you know who will use
this cosmic trigger event to focus positive, good willed thoughts.

We require approximately 1-million people across globe to actively
participate in this event. Please use whatever communication mediums
you have at your disposal. Reach out to as many people as possible. We
require 1-million plus people at the least to trigger a shift for
humanity from separation and fragmentation to one of unification and
oneness.

This is your opportunity to take back what is rightfully yours i.e.
Peace and Prosperity for all Earth and Mankind.

Satch and Bea Lost postings

2006-10-17 Thread perozzop
I apologize for not first obtaining Leslie's permission for this, but I don't
think she'll mind. I just sent an e-mail with her initial post to the ABC
station in Portland. I tried a new angle to get them to air the story (or post
something on their web site) by saying that people from all over the country
are working through the forum to try to help Leslie find her babies. Hopefully
someone will think it's a good story.

I'm going to try the meditation now to help guide her babies home. Leslie -
hang in there! If we can do any more for you please ask.

Precious Pets

P. S. Another suggestion would be to offer a reward
for their safe return in the text messages.

oh my god, that is so scary and horrible. I am praying right now for their
safe return. You might want to contact local media about it, so that
people keep a look out for the cats. I read in the paper a few months ago
that people on a drive across country lost their cats at a rest stop-- the cats
got out-- and they found one a few weeks later and the other about 3 months
later, both fine. I hope that your babies are likewise safe and will be
returned to you at some point.

I don't know exactly how tracking the cell phone works
but I thought I heard on the news that you can track a
phone by the cell phone towers. I may not be right on
this. I was so hoping that this morning I would read
that the babies had been found. I am sending positive
thoughts and prayers that today they will be found and
be O.K.

Cat jacking details - answering your questions

2006-10-17 Thread Leslie
Hi Everyone,I'm sorry for the backlog of posts, I don't have a computer at home, it all has to wait until I get to work...whichis tricky as it's work.

Okay. No word overnight, but talking with Kelly and Beth really helped me feel like I could do more than I was.

I live in Portland, OR, the cats were taken in Leverich Ct (near Leverich Park) Vancouver, WA (Portland and Vancouver are just separated by a river - they are in the same metro area). The car is a white, 2003 Mazda Protege four-door sedan. Its license plate is: 760 CFC. The police think that the car was taken to pillage and will be dumped somewhere, but I don't know if the plates will be the same, different, or gone entirely. There are no bumper stickers, everything on it is stock. There had been a big maroon blanket over the back seat for taking Stetson to the dog park, that's really the only identifier and I don't know if it is still there. Bonnie, you are right, we don't know if the cats are still inside or not, so finding the car is the first thing that we need to do.

Please call the stations, I'm going to follow up and call back today after sending a new email with my flier attached and focusing on how people can help. I'm hoping that the stations will include a pdf of my flier to download and if people just print one copy to post in their neighborhood that would help.

KGW - 503.226.5111
KPTV - 503.906.1249
KATU - 503.231.4264 - they did not air the story last night, hopefully today.
The Oregonian (newspaper) - (503) 221-8100

Each of those institutions has my photos and have heard the story. They can be a little harried, so as Nina put it: politely flooding them. Just let them know that you heard what happened and would like to hear more.

A police report was filed as soon as it happened yesterday morning with the Vancouver PD, the case number is V06-20471, the officer that came to take my statement was Bibbins. Their phone number is: (
360) 696-8292. The media knows that the report has been filed and has the case number. Marylyn, it's a good suggestion to visit the local precincts, I will try and do that.

Nina, I will look into an ad. I'm hoping that the Oregonian will pick up the story and that will help also. I am going to reach out to the Humane Society and DoveLewis (a big non-profit emergency animal hospital here) to send my story/pictures/fliers to their volunteer lists to get the word out that way also. I am going to email and follow up with hardcopy my letter and flier to all vets/shelters in the area. I will try and visit all possible as many times as possible. I think that the idea of an AC is wonderful, but I'm a little worried about spending the money on it. With the reward, ads, replacing what else was stolen in the car, I'm freaking out a little bit. I don't think that you're crazy, if it helps you, I am positive that it is worthwhile, I'm just trying to take things one at a time. I want to do everything in my power, so my hesitation will probably be short lived.

My cell phone: It was on when the car was taken. The officer said that they would call it and see if they could do a track on the GPS device in it. When I called the number later it had been turned off. I need to get a replacement phone taken care of today (one of the things on the list).

I think that this covers it all. I can not thank you all enough for your thoughts, your advice, your presence. I wish that there were three of me to get all of this done, but I promised them andI will do everything that I can.

Thank you, thank you,
Leslie

 I'm a big
believer in the power of positive thinking and today is a very good day to put
that into practice. Let's all think Leslie's babies will be reunited with
her safe and sound today.

A Cosmic Trigger Event will occur on
the 17th of October 2006.

By Raphiem/Blue

This is the beginning, one of many trigger events to come between now and 2013.
An ultraviolet (UV) pulse beam radiating from higher dimensions in universe-2
will cross paths with the Earth on this day. Earth will remain approximately
within this UV beam for 17 hours of your time.

This beam resonates with the heart chakra, it is radiant fluorescent in nature,
blue/magenta in color. Although it resonates in this frequency band, it is above
the color frequency spectrum of your universe-1 which you, Earth articulate in.
However due to the nature of your soul and soul groups operating from
Universe-2 frequency
bands it will have an effect.

The effect is every thought and emotion will be amplified intensely one
million-fold. Yes, we will repeat, all will be amplified one millions time and
more.

Every thought, every emotion, every intent, every will, no matter if it is
good, bad, ill, positive, negative, will be amplified one million times in
strength.

What does this mean?

Since all matter manifest is due to your thoughts, i.e. what you focus on, this
beam will accelerate these thoughts and solidify them at an accelerated rate
making them manifest a million times faster than they normally would.

For those that do not comprehend. Your thoughts, what you focus on create your
reality.

This UV beam thus can be a dangerous tool. For if you are focused on thoughts
which are negative to your liking they will manifest into your reality almost instantly.
Then again this UV beam can be a gift if you choose it to be.

Mission-1017 requires approximately one million people to focus on positive,
benign, good willed thoughts for themselves and the Earth and Humanity on this
day. Your thoughts can be of any nature of your choosing, but remember whatever
you focus on will be made manifest in a relatively faster than anticipated time
frame. To some the occurrences may almost be bordering on the miracle.

All we ask is positive thoughts of love, prosperity, healing, wealth, kindness,
gratitude be focused on.

This UV beam comes into full affect for 17hrs on the 17th of October 2006.

No matter what time zone you are in the hours
are approximately 10:17am on the 17th of October to 1:17am on the 18th of October.

The peak time will be 17:10 (5:10pm) on the
17th October.

You do not need to be in a meditative state through out this time, though that
would be beneficial. The main key time no matter what time zone you are in will
be the peak time of 17:10 (5:10 pm). Perhaps at this time if you can find a
peaceful spot or location to focus. The optimum is out in the vicinity of
grounded nature,
likened to that of a large tree or next to the ocean waves.

Focus on whatever it is you desire. What is required for the benefit of all
Earth and HUmanity is positive thoughts of loving nature.

We call this UV beam trigger event, 818 gateway.

Please forward this message to as many people as you know who will use this
cosmic trigger event to focus positive, good willed thoughts.

We require approximately 1-million people across globe to actively participate
in this event. Please use whatever communication mediums you have at your
disposal. Reach out to as many people as possible. We require 1-million plus
people at the least to trigger a shift for humanity from separation and
fragmentation to one of unification and oneness.

This is your opportunity to take back what is rightfully yours i.e. Peace and
Prosperity for all Earth and Mankind.

RE: o/t familiar with these symptoms?

Title: RE: o/t familiar with these symptoms?

I'm concerned about my former foster cat Kitty--the new mom just emailed me the following.

Could she be feverish? All info appreciated, and will forward it to her.

(The vet's attitude worries me. Kitty's been vomiting drool for over a month. Clearly something is wrong.)

Thanks everyone, Kerry

This morning she had again vomited twice. She doesn't seem to be ailing, although she is considerably more clingy than usual. Also, something my mom noticed... her ears are really quite warm. Could that be a sign of a fever or something? Can cats get fevers?? She is still hydrated as well. Definitely less aggressive towards Alex though- which in all of this worrying is actually nice. Her stool is soft but not diarrhea like.

The vet said nothing to really worry about (unless vomiting increases or she quits eating) but I'm bringing her in on thurs AM as I had an appt then anyway for Alex's annual.

I did give her a 1/4 tab of Pepcid though to soothe her tummy if it was just a little upset.

Thats the story as of right now. Thanks for all of your suggestions and concern. She is proving to be a trooper definitely.

Re: o/t familiar with these symptoms?

2006-10-17 Thread Nina

Hi Kerry,
I can understand your concern about Kitty. Her symptoms are troubling
to me too. How old is she again? If this had just started, then I
might think it had to do with the stress of her new home and not so
friendly attitude between cats. I would feel better if the vet this
woman was seeing seemed more competent. Granted, everyone on this list
has red flag hair triggers, but... It does sound like the new mom is
concerned and keeping an eye on the situation, although the question
about whether cats get fevers is an indicator about how little
experience she's had with sick kitties. Would she be willing to take
Kitty to a vet that you trust?

I know first hand how difficult it is to let go of the responsibility we
feel toward foster fur kids. There is only so much you can do at this
point though. I'm glad that the new mom seems open to your
intervention. Have you paid Kitty a visit in the past few days?
Perhaps she wouldn't mind if you went with her to your vet. If it were
me, I'd go have a look at Kitty and see what my impressions are.
Remember Vladimir's story?

Prayers that Miss Kitty feels better soon,
Nina

Hi Kelly,

This is the message I tried sending yesterday. My server is blocking
outgoing mail. And Eric is not here to tell me what to do. Please post
this to the group as well. I have to go to work now..

Thanks
Everyday that goes by I am more confused. Junior went to the vet today.
She treated him for the upper respiratory infection. I though all was
good with the world. I called her this evening to let her know how junior
was doing. I do think he is still running a temp, but I did not want to
upset him anymore. She was preparing me to put him down maybe as soon as
tomorrow. I know at least for this moment he is not ready to cross that
bridge. I have separated him and Tiny. The other cats are still locked
outside the bedrooms. And mostly stay outside for their own safety. I
know this group is for the cats, but I am mentally, emotionally, and
physically drained.I had reactive hypoglycemia this morning.
I have ordered immuno-regulan on Kelly's advice. I now will have to talk
the vet into giving it. I printed out the protocol for administering
it.
Does anyone out there know of vets in the Richmond VA area who may be
willing to work with me. My usual vets office is extremely busy.
I am too tired to think.
Sally
PS My server would not send this message last night.
Junior seems better this morning. I don't believe he has a fever. I will
not put him through that ordeal unless I think there is a problem. Junior
and Tiny don;t like each other. They don't fight, but they do growl
a lot at each other. For now I will keep them separate. The stress may
have benn what precipitated this most recent cold.

I just
looked on the site for myself--and guess what--I was in my vet's clinic the day
this couple walked in, bereft, with 1000 flyers, as they continued their
search for their Hazel. I remembered the dog's name, and now I recognize them.
(I asked my vet later if Hazel was found, and he told he the story that's posted

ItHAS to be a good omen for Leslie!

Hi, My cat Smokey was getting fevers all the time. I
actually changed vets and the new vet put him on
immuno-regulin injections twice a weeek. I would give
them to him at home subq. That was back in March and
he hasn't had any fevers since. He still gets the
injections but I do it less now. We have gone to 1
injection every other week. I hope this might help.

Re: Fwd: Junior FeLV

2006-10-17 Thread Nina

Sally,
Talk about confused! I don't understand why your vet would be
suggesting pts when Junior appears to be doing better. I'd think
seriously about finding yourself a different vet. It could be that she
just wants to prepare you for the worst case scenario, but it sounds
like he's improving and you shouldn't be considering that at this
point. Ask your vet for a referral to a specialty clinic for a
certified internist. There's no guarantee that you will have any more
confidence in the new vet, but they at least they will have more
experience.

I think it's a good idea to keep the kids separated at this point, it
will be less stressful for them if they have a longer acclimation time.
When you are ready, write to us with questions about how to slowly get
them to accept each other.
Keep your spirits up. Listen to your heart and intuition. You're doing
fine by Junior. Hey, you found us right?

Nina

Everyday that goes by I am more confused. Junior went to the vet
today. She treated him for the upper respiratory infection. I though
all was good with the world. I called her this evening to let her
know how junior was doing. I do think he is still running a temp, but
I did not want to upset him anymore. She was preparing me to put him
down maybe as soon as tomorrow. I know at least for this moment he is
not ready to cross that bridge. I have separated him and Tiny. The
other cats are still locked outside the bedrooms. And mostly stay
outside for their own safety. I know this group is for the cats, but
I am mentally, emotionally, and physically drained.I had reactive
hypoglycemia this morning.

I have ordered immuno-regulan on Kelly's advice. I now will have to
talk the vet into giving it. I printed out the protocol for
administering it.

Does anyone out there know of vets in the Richmond VA area who may be
willing to work with me. My usual vets office is extremely busy.

I am too tired to think.

Sally

PS My server would not send this message last night.

Junior seems better this morning. I don't believe he has a fever. I
will not put him through that ordeal unless I think there is a
problem. Junior and Tiny don;t like each other. They don't fight, but
they do growl a lot at each other. For now I will keep them
separate. The stress may have benn what precipitated this most recent
cold.

Re: Beth's family update and shelter idea (and questions about interferon etc)

2006-10-17 Thread Nina

Gary Murphy wrote:

  Hi Nina,
Thank you for the link to the indyferal group, what a great
site! I have some of the supplies to make a shelteralready, would
only have to buy the insulation, I'll try to get something together
this weekend. The real trick is going to be sneaking it into their
yard and hiding it somewhere, brush pile would be good, but they're
talking of paying someone to come out and chip it. MIL thinks that
anything I do for the cats is attracting skunks and racoons instead.
I'll work it out somehow...

Hi Beth,
Pardon me for saying so, but I'd like to shake your MIL. It sounds
like she lives someplace fairly rural, does she have immediate
neighbors? Have you tried talking to some of them about the
possibility
of setting up feeding/shelters in their yards? It seems ridiculous
that you'd have to do that with your own family members right there,
but maybe there's someone else near by that would be willing, if not to
caretake themselves, at least not be hostile to your efforts to help
the cats. How many cats are there? Could you relocate them to
your back yard? If that's possible, they'd have to be contained in
your back yard until they recognize it as their new territory. As far
as the skunks and raccoons... I don't have much of a problem with
wildlife in my area, but I've seen it suggested that if you spot an
unwelcome guest, you should feed only once a day and pick up the food
when the cats are done eating. It is also recommended to block the
shelters until the wild critters find another place to nest.

I have been meaning to write for advice on Will's med
protocol and neutering tips, but got sidelined by Moxy. I think the
initial reason she recommended Will be on continuous antibiotics is
because she and I both got so frightened by how quickly things turned
bad for his little sister Ally when she went off of them. Her URI
returned, she developed a bright red "swimmer's ear" infection, and she
spiked a recurring high fever. None of this responded as well to the
antibiotics as her initial URI and eye infection did. It just kind of
felt like we'd left the door open a crack and couldn't shut it
again. She was eventually pts with suspected wet FIP, (although this
wasn't confirmed by necropsy and I have my doubts on the diagnosis).
Maybe it was just theFCov mutating into FIP that made her so
susceptible to the other infections andit had nothing to do with
stopping the antibiotic, butit all came on so quickly after the first
round ofmeds ended...

I can understand you concern after what you've
been through. I don't know if prolonged use of antibiotics is the
answer for preventative care though. There's the immunity factor and
I'm sure you know that even with broad spectrum abx, there's no one abx
that will battle all illnesses. They are specific to different
maladies, and it just doesn't sit right with me to have their systems
weakened with abx use "just in case". This is just my personal
opinion, but would rather boost their immune systems, keep a very close
eye on them to watch for symptoms and then hit them with the
appropriate abx if necessary.

Now, I think that part of the reason he is still onit is
maybe because of theinterferon alpha. I know that a side effect for
humans receiving itas an injectable is a temporary reduction
incirculating WBC's. Also, viral infections in general suppress
WBC's. This would lead to an increased risk for bacterial infections.
What I don't know is if the low oral dose he receives has the same
effect? I've got a list of questions for my vet, but have more
confidence that this list can give me answers than her. She has never
recommended a probiotic, but that was something I've been meaning to
ask about. I think he's lasted longer than she expected and we need to
sit down and come up with a long-term plan for him. The staff at this
clinic are wonderful, the techs race each other to be the one who gets
to check in my babies, I can feel them rooting for the whole bunch.
And I like the idea of one clinic knowing them from beginning to end.
I just wish the vet was a little more knowledgeable and proactive.

I would ask your vet for a referral to a
specialty vet, a board certified internist. Someone that would have
more experience with the sort of illnesses our guys are prone to. I'd
take Will in to see them and then you'd have someone to bring him to if
he ever gets sick and needs more specialized care.

   Anyway, here are my questions:

  1. What are the risks/side effects of long-term antibiotics?
(I'll see if I can find some Pet Dophillus to try)

I started to Google this for you. I think you
should do the same. The little I read, (I was looking for long term
use of Clav specifically), doesn't seem to be too negative. I just
don't know if it's necessary and/or beneficial.

  2. How often should he be having a blood panel run? Do we do
this on an interferon on week, or an off week, or on
a longer interferon break? Does it have to be run

Hi Kerry,
I can understand your concern about Kitty. Her symptoms are troubling
to me too. How old is she again? If this had just started, then I
might think it had to do with the stress of her new home and not so
friendly attitude between cats. I would feel better if the vet this

has red flag hair triggers, but... It does sound like the new mom is
concerned and keeping an eye on the situation, although the question
about whether cats get fevers is an indicator about how little
experience she's had with sick kitties. Would she be willing to take
Kitty to a vet that you trust?

Perhaps she wouldn't mind if you went with her to your vet. If it were

Not necessarily --- some kitties have warm ears with normal temperature
-- I just rescued a feral boy, Tony-- and his ears are really warm, and
I checked his temperature and it was 100.7 -- normal -- one time I asked
my vet about it.. she said it all depends.. how about the nose? Are
they dried?

Vomiting can be or is not any serious problems,, I have a cat who vomits
all the time, and they couldn't find anything wrong -- does she eat
okay? Did she lose any weights? Could be psychological or emotional,
too? Have them do the blood work to make sure that all her organs are
okay..

Hi Nina,
Thank you for your advice. Yup, my MIL is absolutely maddening! I've just spent the last week doing work for them, gritting my teeth the entire time. She's76,never learned to drive, can't bear any change, hoards junk, andthinksmy husband has nothing better to do than maintain her property for her for the rest of her life while our own place falls apart.ButI guess that's a whole 'nother can of worms...
They are in an odd spot, theylive on a street of older homes with large lots, and they have a double lot at the end of the street. I think it is 300 feet deep by I don't know how wide. Property values have risen in the area and their street is surrounded by tightly packed Mcmansion subdivisions. Theydislike not onlyanimals, butmost plant life as well, when brushy areas spring up along the fence or behind the garage they have my hubby or nephew hack it all down. It is pretty much a wasteland of mowed scrub grass onseverely compacted soil. Neighbors next door have more hiding spots, butare just as old and crotchety.I live about 40 minutes away in an tightly-packed olderworking class suburb. Myback yard is teensy-tiny and visited too often by thefree-roaming, aggressive toms of my idiot neighbors. I think the brush pile is my best bet, will try it there at leastuntil I'm discovered. Ideally, I would leave food out during the day and take it up each night, but I don't live there and can't go everyday. I do what I can...
Iwill googlelong-term abx use for more information.Possible resistance does worry me, I want it to still be effective when he really needs it, but heis doing so well right now, and I really feel that I failed Ally when I took her off it. We are lucky to have a very goodveterinary referal specialist group in our area, that is where wefound the orthopedic surgeon to do Moxy's surgery. They havea cardiologist that we plan on bringing Moxy to eventually, you're right,I shouldbring Will to their internest as well. Hate to offend my regular vet, but she reallyhas dropped the ballbadly at least once anddoesn't seem verymotivated beyond the basics. It's about what's best for them I guess, not aboutprotecting her feelings...
Now I just have to make enough to pay for all this, dear parrot Max is also due for her yearly checkup...

Hi Everyone,
I'm sorry for the backlog of posts, I don't have a computer at home, it
all has to wait until I get to work...which is tricky as it's work.

Okay. No word overnight, but talking with Kelly and Beth really
helped me feel like I could do more than I was.

I live in Portland, OR, the cats were taken in Leverich Ct (near Leverich
Park) Vancouver, WA (Portland and Vancouver are just separated by a river
- they are in the same metro area). The car is a white, 2003 Mazda
Protege four-door sedan. Its license plate is: 760 CFC. The
police think that the car was taken to pillage and will be dumped
somewhere, but I don't know if the plates will be the same, different, or
gone entirely. There are no bumper stickers, everything on it is
stock. There had been a big maroon blanket over the back seat for
taking Stetson to the dog park, that's really the only identifier and I
don't know if it is still there. Bonnie, you are right, we don't
know if the cats are still inside or not, so finding the car is the first
thing that we need to do.

Please call the stations, I'm going to follow up and call back today
after sending a new email with my flier attached and focusing on how
people can help. I'm hoping that the stations will include a pdf of
my flier to download and if people just print one copy to post in their
neighborhood that would help.

KGW - 503.226.5111
KPTV - 503.906.1249
KATU - 503.231.4264 - they did not air the story last night, hopefully
today.
The Oregonian (newspaper) - (503) 221-8100

Each of those institutions has my photos and have heard the story.
They can be a little harried, so as Nina put it: politely flooding
them. Just let them know that you heard what happened and would
like to hear more.

A police report was filed as soon as it happened yesterday morning with
the Vancouver PD, the case number is V06-20471, the officer that came to
take my statement was Bibbins. Their phone number is:
( 360) 696-8292. The media knows that the
report has been filed and has the case number. Marylyn, it's a good
suggestion to visit the local precincts, I will try and do that.

Nina, I will look into an ad. I'm hoping that the Oregonian will
pick up the story and that will help also. I am going to reach out
to the Humane Society and DoveLewis (a big non-profit emergency animal
hospital here) to send my story/pictures/fliers to their volunteer lists
to get the word out that way also. I am going to email and follow
up with hardcopy my letter and flier to all vets/shelters in the
area. I will try and visit all possible as many times as
possible. I think that the idea of an AC is wonderful, but I'm a
little worried about spending the money on it. With the reward,
ads, replacing what else was stolen in the car, I'm freaking out a little
bit. I don't think that you're crazy, if it helps you, I am
positive that it is worthwhile, I'm just trying to take things one at a
time. I want to do everything in

Hi Guys,
I also have a PayPal account, I think that you can send the funds to my email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]. It's currently empty, I only use it to by random gifts from eBay, so will be easy to keep funds separate.

Hideyo - I am doing the meditation constantly. It's funny, when I got back from the interview, to spot on my chest that I've visualized the gold coil anchoring in felt stronger. I hope that this means something.

And yes, Amy was the reporter, the segment will air at 6. I don't know if Kelly's email was directed at me, but I have indeed thanked her sincerely, both in person and over email. Oh, and the cameraman liked the header to my flyers: Cat Jacking - so once more, thanks guys!

Not necessarily. Cat's temps are warmer than ours in their normal
state, so she may not be able to gage if her ears are too warm. I
make a habit of touching their ears etc when I know they are feeling
good so I have a better idea when things are off. The only way to truly
tell is to take their temp, and I would not suggest that the new mom try
that.

Hi,

Everyday that goes by I am more confused. Junior went to the vet today. She
treated him for the upper respiratory infection. I though all was good with
the world. I called her this evening to let her know how junior was doing.
I do think he is still running a temp, but I did not want to upset him
anymore. She was preparing me to put him down maybe as soon as tomorrow. I
know at least for this moment he is not ready to cross that bridge. I have
separated him and Tiny. The other cats are still locked outside the
bedrooms. And mostly stay outside for their own safety. I know this group
is for the cats, but I am mentally, emotionally, and physically drained.I
had reactive hypoglycemia this morning.

I have ordered immuno-regulan on Kelly's advice. I now will have to talk
the vet into giving it. I printed out the protocol for administering it.

They don't fight, but they do growl a lot
at each other. For now I will keep them separate. The stress may have benn
what precipitated this most recent cold.

Re: o/t familiar with these symptoms?

2006-10-17 Thread Marylyn
If the vet doesn't get it find another vet. This has gone on too long
without an explanation. The thing is to catch problems while they can still
be handled. I have taken too many critters to the vet just because
something didn't feel right in my stomach. I have rarely been wrong and in
several cases delays could/would have cost lives.

exclude any of God's creatures
from the shelter of
compassion and pity, you will have men who
will deal likewise with

Hi Kerry,
I can understand your concern about Kitty.

Prayers that Miss Kitty feels better soon,
Nina

I'm concerned about my former foster cat Kitty--the new mom just

Could she be feverish? All info appreciated, and will forward it to

(The vet's attitude worries me. Kitty's been vomiting drool for over a

month. Clearly something is wrong.)
Thanks everyone, Kerry

/This morning she had again vomited twice. She doesn't seem to be
ailing, although she is considerably more clingy than usual. Also,
something my mom noticed... her ears are really quite warm. Could
that be a sign of a fever or something? Can cats get fevers?? She is

still hydrated as well. Definitely less aggressive towards Alex
though- which in all of this worrying is actually nice. Her stool is
soft but not diarrhea like. /

/The vet said nothing to really worry about (unless vomiting increases

or she quits eating) but I'm bringing her in on thurs AM as I had an
appt then anyway for Alex's annual. /

/I did give her a 1/4 tab of Pepcid though to soothe her tummy if it
was just a little upset. /
/Thats the story as of right now. Thanks for all of your suggestions
and concern. She is proving to be a trooper definitely./

Off to the shelters (Bea and Satch)

2006-10-17 Thread Leslie
I felt so positive this morning, but as the hours pass, it's hard not to feel frantic again. I hope that the piece aired on channel 2 tonight will help. I'm running out now to distribute some posters, then I've got to get home to study some before the test tomorrow. I'll check in again with the news desks. Do you know if one channel airs somethingdoesthat makes the rest less likely to?

My big hope is the Oregonian newspaper. I was told by the Humane Society that they couldn't send something out to the volunteer list unless it was OHS (Oregon Humane Society) related. I said but I'm OHS related! The woman is very nice, so I'm hoping that if there is a case for rule bending that this is it. She certainly personally commiserated with me. I'll try again tomorrow, maybe as things get a bit more desparate, she'll be more willing to help, though I'd certainly rather things not get any more desparate. I just hope that they aren't locked in the car somewhere remote.

If work can continue to be flexible, I'm going to take a long lunch tomorrow and hit the shelters to peer into the cages.

Words can not express my gratitude to you all. As I'd written a couple of you, the shock and raw feelings of the actual theft have more than been salved by you - the feelings of distrust and anger at the world in general have been outyelled by all of your open generosity and continued support. Things will not be all right again until they are back home, but at least I know that evil is not winning in the long run.

Thank you,Lesie

More about good news!!!

2006-10-17 Thread Gary Murphy

Hi you wonderful group you,

Leslie will post more tomorrow, I was so excited I'm not sure if I've got the details right, but here's a rough version of how she got him back:
He was hanging out near an electronics? store a little north of where he was stolen. They were feeding him, a girl (from the store?) brought him to the vet to see if he had a microchip, but the vet had a hard time and couldn't get a reading on it. They planned to bring him back the next day to try for a reading again. Meanwhile, the girl called her mom and told her "Mom, I found the nicest cat for you." The mom saw the story on the news tonight and either she or her daughter called Leslie.I think she has him back home right now. Beatrix is still missing, but at least they have an area on which to concentrate. Keep thinking those good thoughts and give your furbabies an extra hug tonight...

Looking for Bea Satch

2006-10-17 Thread Belinda

Leslie,
I really think the park is your best bet to start looking for them,
it's very strange for a thief to stop and dump things out of a car they
are stealing unless they were throwing the bag out for a reason like
maybe using it to get hold of the cat they were trying to get out. I
really have a hunch the park area where your bag was found is worth
looking around in. While the police are looking for your car I would
stake out the park with food and if possible get a trap and put food and
something with your scent in it and just sit in a quiet spot and softly
call them.

The sooner they are found the less wild, scared and confused they will
be. Lots of prayers and positive thoughts for them to be safe and home
very soon.

PS. The other place that I would stake out is your boyfriends
neighborhood, the thief may have left the door ajar while hot-wiring it
and they may have gotten out of the car then. When my Teenye got out
the front door once, she was indoor only, I spent 3 days walking all
over my neighborhood calling her name, she was a very shy and scardy
cat, I was terrified for her. On the third day with nothing, no
sightings, nothing I was calling her when I got home from work and I
heard a very faint meow coming from under my porch. I had to stand away
from the open door and she darted in, she never had any desire to go
outside after that.
