We have a player that shows up on the stats as playing a server that he/she
has been banned on. It is permanent. I've tested it on myself and I can't
get on. Is there a way around the permanent ban???

The player was on with the exact same STEAM_ID as the ban.

This person was banned for suspected hacking, and was wondering if anybody
 has seen this before.

 Thanks,

somebody find this dude and bring him round the back. i wanna talk to him.

This update is hell. Instead of helping all of use fight against
cheaters, raters, intepers and all that carp it just made our job ten
times harder coz all those lil tools we use to adjust settings on a
client so the ass holes out there can't cheat and so the rest of us can
have a nice lag free gaming experience just got broken. (that is an
assumption. i've just got up to see this and i was gonna take the day off)

In all honesty i'm about 10 seconds away from shutting down my community

The way I see it, you guys brought this on yourselves.

It's about time Valve gave clients the ability to prevent this from
 happening.

I personally hate going into servers and find my rates and basic settings
 changed all over the place.

 Thank you Valve.

For those of us running public servers with the aim of allowing the
community to enjoy the game (and subsequently helping Valve's bottom line by
making CS a huge game), I (and I'm sure others) would appreciate if this
command was off by default, as people abusing rates and interp settings are
 already ruining public play.

Just remember Valve, so many games have failed because no one would run

Then wouldn't the perfect setup be that this
doesn't allow the server operator to use the command bind, change this
restrict setting and not use quit, and just put your settings back to
the way they were on a change of server?

 Not this. This is
Our clients pay for the game, not the server operators forgetting
that fact that the reason they have millions of paying customers with

The server does not crash, I can play on it. But it creates

I have to worry about it at all? It happens with or without running plugins.
And it also happens when starting halflife instead of cstrike. I only
noticed, that the messages appear faster, if no high resolution timer is

Thanks in advance for any answer.

there even if you've got mp_dynamicpricing 0 in your server.cfg.
Dynamic prices will disappear only after next mapchange. Not a big

good magic trick. this is gonna happen all over the place. NOBODY WANTS

new weapon pricing stuff. We've tried it on fresh installs 6 times and
it doesn't do anything. oh yeah and it seems to have broken mani but i
have a feeling a quick edit of the gamestypes file will fix that.

still supported and is being developed with optional features.

Re: [hlds] Tickrate

2006-11-02 Thread David Williams
the maximum tickrate for a source server is 100. As you can see we are
amazed you managed to get it higher. Vlave dos openly admit that there
are simulation problems with running servers @ 100tick. I suggest you
try running your servers at 75 tick as you get the performance benefits
of 100 tick with out the issues.

 Hi folks,

can anyone confirm that -tickrate 125 has been disabled? All servers run with
constant tickrate of 100 instead of 125.

Re: [hlds] Firewall and router

2006-07-23 Thread David Williams
i found with my wrt54g (a version 2) that if you stick the dd-wrt
firmware on it, it's amazing. Makes life so much easier when your doing
this kinda stuff because you can tell dchp to assign you an ip according
to your comps mac addy. means you always get the same ip. that makes
windows happy, it makes me happy because i can just type the same string
and it's always right and also hlds/srcds never fail to work because the
ports are always open straight through from the comp to the big wide world.

I looked last night in the router screen and didnt see anything about
a firewall, but i'll look a little bit deeper tonight. My external at
the moment is 67.169.102.189 and thats what i entered into the
 server.cfg file. I think i do have a spare Linksys WRT54G router.
 Would you reccomend switching?

What version is it? The early versions are good, but Linksys ruined the

current version. The V5 and V6 models have half as much memory and a
different OS. It should be avoided. LInksys ruined a perfectly good
 router, what were they thinking?

If you have an earlier version, switch. Then disable firewall at
Security/firewall tab. Go to Applications and Gaming, forward port
 27015 to server box.

You can't assign ip addresses, but windows, when it boots, will ask for

the last IP address it had, and this router will give it so you should
not have any problems with your ip address changing.

If you are port forwarding for a server, dont input the external ip
into ure server.cfg that causes havoc with the ports, just enter ure
internal one, and all the portforwarding should be done for you then
you give people the external with the port... for example
 67.169.102.189:27015 and

people should be able to connect

john thats all great info. If your router comes with a firewall (i
believe most if not all linksys routers do have one) it will be in the
section called security. the ip you gave us is the internel ip. but the
router should state in the status tab what the wan aka external ip is.
that is the one we need. if you have a software firewall you will need
to open al the same ports as you did on the router.

hope this helps some more.

I've now lost it and would like to install it. I've looked on the source
mod forums but turned up nothing and ran a couple of searches in google
and that came up with didely squat.

anyone know where i can obtain a copy of this plugin if it exist's and i

sv_lan =3d 0 is an invalid command. dude learn to read. the command you
were told to use was

*sv_lan = 0*

To be fair i think the task you have undertaken is about 3 steps up the
computer skills ladder than where you are. but FYI if you go start,
contol panel, network connections, then right click on your network
device and click on status on one of the tabs it will tell you your ip
address. you have to check that address is the one you have assign to
the port you wanna forward, check www.portforward.com for more info.

Also it is important what the model of your linksys router is. It's
usually on the sticky label on the bottom. if your ping has raised since
you had a play with the settings that's a bad thing. Ping is all about
the lower the better. If the game you are running is a hl1 variant, on
my network if it was more than 0 i would be worried. For hl2/source
based games on my network i would except as much as 10 but it's never
usually more than 5. so you see your values are what i would call
unusually high. And finally if you computers ip address is dynamically
assigned every time you turn your computer on it's ip addy could be
different. so you'll want to find out how to make it statically assigned.

hope this keeps you busy for a lil while.

Ok first thing, i tried typing in sv_lan =3d 0 and i restarted my server.
When it came back on it couldnt connect to the steam servers and couldnt add
master servers. From there i changed it back to 1 and it connected fine. Im
not sure if thats good or not so i could use some feedback there. My router
that i use is a Linksys and im sure that the ip adress the ports are
forwarded to is correct. However, im not sure if it comes with a firewall.
The ping on my server has been between 20 and 50 since i did the sv_lan
thing. That comes as an improvement since before is was ranging between 0 to
 10.
Any sugjestions would be appreciated. Thankyou

Hell, the existance of the thread explained to a great deal of people, which

[hlds] forcing client rates without using matties

min rates are set, i think it's cl_minrate 15000 cl_updaterate 66 and
cl_cmdrate 66 (it's a 66 tick server and the game is CS:S). i did try to
run the sourcemod version of mani but i could never figure out if it was
actually working so i removed sourcemod and i currently use the normal
version. Any tips on telling whether sourcemod and mani for sourcemod
are actually working would be good.

On the subject of what would constistute rate hacking. I think that
anything less than 1,33,33 is a bit low but i had a guy come on my
server on sunday with 3400, 15, 20 and that tbh is taking the piss and
is also what has triggered me to look into forcing min rates on all clients.

hey this noob had been up for 24 hours and when i wrote that i was
passing out. I might not be good at this kinda stuff but hey i do it for
fun. Mebbe you might wanna try the same kind of dedication i put in when
you have a problem. All i wanna do is learn and get better and working
with srcds. I am shocked that some of the ppl in this list can be so
arrogant and selfish. I'm not 15 and i've been on this list nearly a
year. oh and i did fix it after 26 hours. i then slept for 3 and
starting working on learning some more commands. i've now been up for 13

well if this is true:-

1) wheres the proof???

2) Why haven't valve done anything about it or just said something. As
with the problems already identified here in this list and elsewhere and
with this claim vlave are surely goin to lose players and watch their

Re: [hlds] can hlstatsx ban ppl???? coz i think it told vac to do so

2006-03-19 Thread David Williams

ok i can understand that ook. I just think it's wrong that again valve
has released a product that is unfinished/sub standard and banned
someone for just being shit. Also i did check the list on the hlstats
website and the user in question is not listed there but is listed in
the vac bans section of the control panel. also interestingly he is only
vac banned from my server. which i think is extremely wierd becasue a
vac ban is system wide is it not? so can some one explain that away for me.

and finally a parting shot to all those assholes that said the ban was
deserved. Wait till it happens to you and see how i laugh. (I won't
swear again but insert expletives here about 10 will do)

i'm interested in how the hell running a swf file in IE can boost the

sv_maxrate is not enough for a 100 tickrate server
sv_maxupdaterate of 40 is lower than the CS:SRCDS default of 60 and would
nullify the benefit of running at 100 tickrate
Setting the sv_minupdaterate to anything atm seems to cause strange issues
for lots of people if the fps drops even for a millisecond

Im running almost the exact server setup except there HL1 mods. one 32

sv_maxrate is not enough for a 100 tickrate server
sv_maxupdaterate of 40 is lower than the CS:SRCDS default of 60 and
would
nullify the benefit of running at 100 tickrate
Setting the sv_minupdaterate to anything atm seems to cause strange
issues
for lots of people if the fps drops even for a millisecond

It's been my experience that win2k is the better win OS to run a
server on.

Im running almost the exact server setup except there HL1 mods.
one 32 slot dod1.3 one 13 slot match and one 20 slot HLTV.

Sv_maxrate 12000
Sv_minupdaterate 20
Sv_maxupdaterate 40I swear by these rate settings.i
have tested many settings over the last 3 years that i have run
server HL1 servers. And ill never run any other settings.
i do however run fedora core 4. which i cannot recommend highly
enough.

that is correct, we tested it. Also if he restarts steam he can join for
a lil while before vac kicks him. of ig he joins then leaves straight
away he won't get back in. anyone else think this is strange. Also if
there is nothing we can do valve just lost a valuable customer (but
aren't customers valuable???) and before you ask i am positive it is a
vac ban. i had my host check the logs twice after i had 3 times

well mani auto bans ARE off i checked i have a thing about plugins
banning ppl it's not fair and removes the human control i feel the
server needs. We have no other plugins running on the server other than
hlstatsx. I didn't ban him if i had why the hell would i spend this
amount of time typing. I checked the logs and none of my other admins
did it. So that leaves hlstats itself which we discounted or a very
clever hacker and i doubt that. so lets keep the ideas coming so i can
prove your wasting your time. i might be a noob but i'm not that dim.
before i make a post i do have a tendency to check i can fix it. if i
can i don't bother

It works for both HLDS SRCDS as its ia and OS level effect not application

Well since the poster wrote he was using media player, I just assumed he
was talking about running an HL1 mod of some sort.im not even sure if
that works for srcds or not. But if it does then running media player
would
take up more CPU then just running a SWF file minimized.
when i use it, it boost's my FPS on my win2k server to 500.

i'm interested in how the hell running a swf file in IE can boost the

Or is there a special trick this ageing noob dosn't know about.

sv_maxrate is not enough for a 100 tickrate server
sv_maxupdaterate of 40 is lower than the CS:SRCDS default of 60 and would
nullify the benefit of running at 100 tickrate
Setting the sv_minupdaterate to anything atm seems to cause strange

issues

for lots of people if the fps drops even for a millisecond

It's been my experience that win2k is the better win OS to run a server
on.

Im running almost the exact server setup except there HL1 mods. one 32
slot dod1.3 one 13 slot match and one 20 slot HLTV.

Sv_maxrate 12000
Sv_minupdaterate 20
Sv_maxupdaterate 40I swear by these rate settings.i have
tested
many settings over the last 3 years that i have run server HL1 servers.
And ill never run any other settings.
i do however run fedora core 4. which i cannot recommend highly

enough.

right i've done some checking around coz i'm too dim to know how to
answer your problem with out a bit of research. it seems you can't

cmd line (without quotes) and restart the server.

Re: [hlds] player model problem

2006-03-15 Thread David Williams

right it's all sorted now i must thank adam sando for all his help with
csrsc and sv_download url. My model problem was casued my some
mysteriously missing (really it was very strange) material files. but
thanks anyway for your input it's more than most could be arsed to do.
but that's another subject for another time.

Jim wrote:

I came across a few things a while back with this and mine works fine
with
sv_downloadurl. The following is what I found

1) Configuration of sv_downloadurl as follows located in the Server.cfg
file:
   //Enable HTTP Web Server
   sv_downloadurl http://myserver.net/my_cstrike/;

Note: Some will tell you with and with out the /, with the
exception that I renamed my server in this line. This is a direct cut
and paste from my Server.cfg and it works fine.

2) I found that attempting to put objects on my Web Server that were not
compressed failed. I found a number of applicatoins out there that will
compressed the files, however not all of them work correctly. I found
using
winbzip2 from http://www.irnis.net/ worked well and it is FREEWARE.

3) Move all of the zip objects up to the web server as follows in a tree
structure identical to the Host Server.

   My_Cstrike Folder
   :
   :___ Maps Folder
   :
   :___ Materials Folder

4) Most important you need a resource file .RES File and this resides
on the
host server. NOT on the Web Server
an example as folows:

   resources
   {
   materials/nippertextures/westwood/bhdc_door1.vmt file
   materials/nippertextures/westwood/ccb_outwall2.vmt file
   materials/nippertextures/westwood/dmcwde.vmt file
   materials/nippertextures/westwood/duh_ceil1.vmt file
   materials/nippertextures/westwood/nm_gas_floor1.vmt file
   sounds/nippersounds/nm_goodbadugly.wav file
   }

If you still have problems with the sv_downloadurl drop me a line and
will
be glad to help you out. As for the Models, this could be an issue with
your download and nobody has the models. You have them due to being
on the
server.

Hey guys i was wondering if you could give me any help as to why my
custom player models don't work for anyone else but me. Apparently all
the other players see is a big error message instead of the model. I am
using the latest version of mani and if it makes a difference i'm trying
to use ldukes admin models. I'm still struggling with sv_dowloadurl as i
just can't seem to get it to work. Every prog i use is either not
compatible with source or just plain hard to use. I really need to get
this fixed as i am moving the config from my test server to my full

stumped guys.

Hello,

I have a dedicated CS:Source server running with Mani Mod installed. I've been trying
to get sound files (e.g. mp3 files) to play from the CS Sounds folder, but
have not been able to make this work. I've also tried to do it the old-fasioned way by
setting up .src files for each map to point to the sound files, but this has not worked
either.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Frazer,

I'm running StatsMeMinimum on our server and we log all that
information. If you trawl through those logs I sent you, you will
probably see entries like that ;)

I haven't played around with the mani-admin in-built logging yet,
however if this does the same as the StatsMeMinimum and allows
Psychostats to still work, then I think I'll start using that from now
on :D

Whisper has a point but i'm bored and i'm still abit noobie round the
edges (common ook gimme all you got with that thwack stick) and i hate
to see a guy struggle, ask for help and then be ignored. It's just not
fair. So here we go with the questions. I'll do my best if anyone one's
to put in the 2 pence worth then go a head.

1) Are you using some kind of admin plugin/tool. Something like mani
admin plugin or beetlesmod.

2) Are you using any other plugins like the zombie mod or something like
that (i guess that's why your asking the question you are asking)

3) have you checked around the steampowered.com forums or the forums for
the admin plugin you use, if you use one.

that is all i can think of for now but it is a start and to answer your
question about the thwack stick. It is for noobs like you or anyone that
has the idiocy to ask a stupid question (coz to be fair this is a bit
dim to ask). It's basically the same has your mum giving you a clip
round the ear but funnier and harder.

Check it out, I highly recommend it :)

Re: [hlds] Valve are you listening?

2006-02-15 Thread David Williams

ok before i begin i will admit i have been on the beer. Also this is
more from a players pov than an admins but dan YOUR A NOOB ffs all the
bugs you have denouced are major problems!!. For instance, today
alone in a 30minute play time i experience the map objects bug no less
than 5 TIMES!! on 1.6 it wouldn't happen at all. I do admit this
mainly because those objects aren't there (in 1.6) but still the source
objects don't interact with the player properly. Also i would like to
point out that the newest game to be released on steam use's the UNREAL
ENGINE. What does that say about the source engine???.. errr let me
think about it for one sec... THE SOURCE ENIGNE SUCKS MORE BALLS THAN MY
GRAN (and that's some balls let me tell you). Atm i feel that valve is
not listening to their players or gsp's as they are too focused on put
games out on the steam network. This will ultimately be valves downfall
as players will desert them as time goes on. For valve to suceed and
keep their name as the gamers development company they need to fix the
bugs in the source engine (and no it's not that they can't, they just
can't be arsed) and then they can think about adding features and new
stuff to it. IMO the worst thing valve did was to by the rights to the
major hl mods i.e. cs and dod. It should have been left to the original
developers to get it right b/c at the end of the day they WOULD have got
it right

'What kind of SHIT is that?' fails miserably to convince me that that
is a problem. You should be camping behind crates is all I can say.

Bomb Defusing Bugs -- MAAJOR Problem: I cant count how many times
i've been in a match for CALopen or TWLopen and I cannot defuse a bomb b/c
of some stupid pallet, chair or barrel.

That is a sv_turbophysics related problem which I have already mentioned.

Not to mention the fact that you
click on the bomb to defuse and then sometimes you cant even get off the
bomb to shoot the guy that is about to rape you with an AK.

I expect that is this design decision within the game, not a bug,
which I happen to agree is a reasonable decision.

Sound Bugs -- MAJOR Problem: Hearing people run up short A on dust2 while
your sitting in the pit on long A is pretty retarded..

Can't say I've noticed this.

Items that Trap you in place -- Major Problem: Well documented and
complained about, along with INVISIBLE BOXES and Humps on stairs.. For
instance, rushing up the hall corridor on de_inferno heading to bombsite
A -- The first step throws you off makes you jump up in the air.

Not noticed this either. Sorry.

Poor FPS -- Even bigger problem than anything else. I have a AMD Dual Core
3800+ w/ an ATi x700 256mb PRO and 2gigs of ram, yet with HDR OFF, AA OFF
and AF OFF i get 50fps, what kind of SHIT is that?

I can only take your word on this.

Maps are nothing like they use to be either.. many of them have been
completely re-worked and not optimized for clients or the SERVER! Since
militia's release i've refused to put this map in my cycle b/c of the
OVERWHELMING amount of resources that this map takes on my server. Dust2
uses 50% LESS resources on my server than Militia -- But again its the SAME
engine, whats with THAT!

I would agree that the new, HDR maps are much bulkier than the non-HDR
maps, but that's not because they aren't as optimized, but because
they utilise HDR and as a result look much prettier, for the price of
bigger maps filesizes and performance. Of course, not everyone, myself
being one, is willing to sacrifice performance to point of detriment
for the sake of extra eye candy, but Valve have very kindly included
the option to turn HDR off.

Perfect example of this is the favorites within the game not working.

Yes, I'm equally fathomed by this bug, however thankfully there is a
workaround, which you can find in a sticky on the SteamPowered forums.
I suggest you have a look.

On 15/02/06, Drew Hostetler [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

Dan, you obviously don't play CS:S competitively. All the problems
that Whipser mentioned have a HUGE impact on the competitive CS:S
community, and this is why teams are sticking with 1.6. Once (or if
ever) the good 1.6 teams switch over, so will the majority of players.

I will admit to that, however I still think the reasons I gave are
more credible than 'because of a few minor bugs'.

irv i reread your system specs and your running a dual processor

did say EACH. I'm even more surprised that no-one else picked this up as
a potential problem, as it does have to be faulty memory or hdd. I know
this seems to have nothing to do with your problem but you may find the
lack of power is causing memory errors that you diag progs aren't

But honestly the issue sounds like it is either a bad router or some

i have no problem with the comms in source either and i have a simialr

stop to think those crap motherboard built in sound cards everyone seems
to be using nowadays is the probolem? i have notice that most new
systems have them and more importantly PPL USE THEM. but in saying this
there must be a glitch in the codec if it is incompatible with build on
sound cards. so i think the ppl that are complaining need to look at
there setup and valve need to spent some time actually finishing their
products before they release them, then half the stuff we moan about
being broken, wrong, or just plain rubbish, we wouldn't have to worry
about. We are working in a viscious circle and it needs to be broken and
valve needs to start paying more attention to the ppl that run their
gaming betwork for them.

Anyone ever experience anything similar, and if so, is there anything

you have to put it in the server.cfg file.

also when i ran a ded server of my comp i had to put the wan ip in there

i don't remember. but yea, i ran a dedicated off of
my computer for about a
half yea, and playd on the same computer every day,
the server was port
27015 and it didn't matter. workd just fine.

and try adding the lan ip to your favorites... its
prolly like
192.something. or 127.something...

and a listen server is just clicking create server
with css open.

I thought the port had to be different because the

you

If your trying to join a ded server from the

same box you will need to

change the server port from the default 27015

to 27016. Server will lag

like a mofo however. You should create a

Are you running amx coz if yoou are you'd be bbetter off getting a file

it knows where they are and ur off.

Re: [hlds] Re: sv_unlag and Ping

2005-07-20 Thread David Williams

Firstly i would like to thank ned for all those commands and advice he
has given. When i get i time to look at the server again i'll give them
a test with my testing team (i've not been of the best health atm). Also
to m0gley look mate i am and it works i happen to know that the average
bandwith usage per player is in the regaion of 3 - 3.5 kilobytes p/s
but hey if you guys say i can't run the server at all and i've got 6
players max running fime then i'm winning already. FYI this is only
practice for a bigger paid for server my clan is goin to invest in and
coz i'm the smart assed techie i got the job of server admin.

and finally my system specs for you all to laugh at

athlon 3000+ barton (fried it only runs at 1.3)
1GB ddr 333 corsair match pair ram
windows xp pro
120GB 7200rpm hdd

the system is in the middle of an upgrade and i do have a habit of
playing in the server from the client on the same system (if that makes
sense)

Ned wrote:

David,

I 'm wrong on the FPS HLDS Servers use the CVAR *sys_ticrate* to control

*sys_ticrate 300 and open Medialayer.exe *this page explains why.
http://steampowered.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/steampowered.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=108

and sv_tickrate isn't used in 1.6, I host CS Source, got confused
-tickrate 33 is in the command line of CSS

BTW what cpu are you using, how much ram? Windows?
This link will show you your true speed http://www.dslreports.com/

http://home.covad.net/~k25125/SteamyThings/NetGraph_Steam.htm

// max frame rate (60-1000) higher is better if your machine can
handle it
*sys_ticrate 300*

// Maximum updates per second that the server will allow (default 60)
// 60 for updaterate is LAN ONLY use 13 for internet hlds
// 20 is default but will cut the maxplayers you can handle in 1/2
// for SRCDS Servers use 30 - you might be able to use 20
sv_maxupdaterate 20 try changing this down to 13 lowest

// Minimum updates per second that the server will allow (default 10)
// this is the minimum playable updaterate, leave this at 13 for srcds
10 hlds
sv_minupdaterate 10

//Enables player lag compensation 0 - 1
sv_unlag 1

// Maximum lag compensation in seconds (min. 0.00 max. 1.00)
sv_maxunlag 1

// Enable instanced baselines - Saves network overhead
sv_instancebaselines 1

//Force server side preloading (default 0)
sv_forcepreload 1

sv_minratesv_maxrate are for map and spray loading only they don't
effect play

You still won't see much improvement at 7 players, you mite be able to
get 5 to work

128kbs / 5 = 25.5kbs per player this link will give you more info

Good Luck,
Ned

It's not 1000MB or 1,000,000KB ect... Computers only work with powers of
2 so you get, 1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128 ect.., it takes 8 bits to make a
byte. Thus 4 is 2 to the power of 2 in binary 4 would be 0010.

A computer might store it like that (it transmitted it like that). But
4 in 8-bit binary un-encoded should surely by 0100. Anyone for now
teaching endianess? Why not move onto a swift lesson on 2's complement
and IEE754 floats.

One
Byte is all 8 binary digits grouped together. So 1MB is actually 1048KB
which is 1,048,576 Bytes 2 to the power of 20. then you take that and
multiply that by 8 = 8,388,608 bits, which is all the ones and zeros
your modem has to transmit. KB and MB are just units of deviation like
millimeter, centimeter, meter, kilometer. For simplicity they just round
things down, especially because like Macleod said you get a little over
head in the data.

For the internet you can't have an IP digit greater than 255 because in
an 8 bit octet it's . thus an IP of 192.168.0.1 is
0011.00010101..1 each place in the binary represents
the 1,2,4,8,32,64,124 so the first octet that's 192 says there is only
1-124 and 1-64 added together gives 192. So now you have had a brief
explanation on Binary and you understand a little bit of how those 1's
and 0's work in computers.

Thank you so much.

MB=mega byte Mb means mega bit ... thats where the confusion is its all
in the abreviation but clayton has it right as well as james just
diffeernt views but for the reasoning of the server I think its figured
in bits so clayton is altimatly right

Clayton Macleod wrote:

sorry, but you're wrong. 1Mbps in terms of *network communication* is

Sorry, but I just want to verify, you do know those byte values are

1MB is 1024 KB which is 1048576 Bytes, which is 8388608 bits.

Gb-Mb-Kb always factors of 1024 different.
There are 8 bits in a byte.

1Mbps (bits per second, the standard measurement for most
telcommunications speeds)

1Mbps is capable of sending 1024kbps, which is 1048576 bits per

second.

128k is actually 131072 bits per second 16k is 16384 bits per second.

Rounded values are however good as they leave some space for
oversubscription / link control / protocol overhead.

Yeah, I couldn't recommend running a server on 16kbps up.
