Good job indeed, though a dependency on ruby seems to be an overkill to me; IMHO, all system level or command line tools, scripts and, or utilities should be light weight, whereas your ISPUnity thing is far from K.I.S.S. and, or Unix philosophy. BTW, did not you bother to look at what's already available on the Internet? I'm sure there are many such apps/distros/solutions available. We've been using m0n0wall and pfSense (both freeBSD based) for a long time now and Vyatta more recently. You can also pick it up through Ebay india. I am mainly interested in its remote part -- WIIMOTE , can be buy it separately,,, system , do we need only remote part or full accessories. The remote by itself is of little use. You would need the complete system as the remote communicates to the main console via a motion sensor that is generally mounted on top of the TV. Re: [ilugd] Unable to login to Airtel modem admin interface
I am still unable to connect to the admin interface. But as before I am able to access the internet. Most DSL modems and Wi-Fi routers come with a factory default IP address of 192.168.1.1 So when you try to connect to 192.168.1.1 with both of them in the network, the behavior is unpredictable (unless you changed the wireless router's IP address to some other subnet). As a process of elimination, I would suggest that you connect directly to the DSL modem from your laptop using a patch cord (Ethernet cable) and then try connecting to the Admin interface. you should also check to see that the DSL modem has issued you an ip address in the same range (192.168.1.x) . If this is not so, then you can safely assume that the IP address of your DSL modem is not 192.168.1.1 and it is generally the first ip in whatever subnet it has issued you an iP from (again the assumption here is that whoever changed the IP followed the same logic). Other things to check:- a) Port number of admin interface might be non-default (i.e 81 instead of 80) b) running wireshark (ethereal) when you try to connect might throw up some more info in the captured data. Also, as an afterthough, what OS/Browser are you using on the Laptop? Re: [ilugd] Unable to login to Airtel modem admin interface
From: Puneet Lakhina [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [ilugd] Unable to login to Airtel modem admin interface I tried to login to the admin interface at 192.168.1.1 from my laptop(wireless) but i get connection reset error page everytime. What could the problem be? Are you able to login when you connect your laptop directly to the DSL modem using ethernet? Also, is the Wi-Fi access point acting as a NATted router? why are you on a different network (192.168.0.x) than your DSL modem (192.168.1.x)? Double NATting is not recommended under most cases. You could disable DHCP from the Wi-FI AP (or router) and connect the LAN part of the DSL modem to the LAN part of the Wi-Fi AP (or Router). This way, the AP will act as a bridge and just forward all DHCP requests to the DSL modem. Re: [ilugd] [Freed] Workshop at IPEC, June 7th, 9.30am: Public announcement
This location acquires greater significance when seen from the point of view of industries and corporate houses for the NCR, looking for fresh pass out for recruitment. Assuming that this is not a cutpaste job from the website, I'm not sure this is of any great relevance to the issue at hand viz. How to get there :) If I remember correctly:- 1.Drive towards Noida via the Nizamuddin Bridge (not the DND flyway) 2. At Noida Mor, continue straight on NH-24 highway (this is called Hapur highway by some) 3. At UP Border (after you cross Ghazipur traffi signal), turn left 4. After the third traffic signal (you would have crossed Dabur,Bhushan Steel Strips and BEL Ghaziabad), turn left you should see IP college on your right. [ilugd] Sound barely working in Gutsy (Ubuntu 7.10)
Hi, I have a Toshiba Satellite A100 laptop with an Intel HDA card and Realtek ALC861 chip. I have Fiesty installed for some time now and sound works just fine. On a whim, I installed Gutsy the other day on a spare partition and found that the sound is very feeble. Trawled around in Ubuntuforums and found that this is a known issue with Gutsy and though tried recompiling reinstalling the alsa drivers, nothing helped. Just wondering if anyone one the list can throw some light or should I just wait for HardyHeron?? If your internet is through a DHCP-server capable device (like a DSL router) just use that to serve DHCP addresses to all the PCs. You can also use an old PC with monowall or pfsense to act as the firewall/gateway etc. This way all your computers will be on the same LAN segment.
