I get this message about certain components are missing and I am told to

So, whaaat components are missing and should I reinstall 13 or 12?

  Breathe In, Breathe Out

  By Brenda Gittens
  This week's topic: Examine Yourself

What is the one thing we do every day without thinking about it hardly at
all? Breathe. And what's the one thing that we need to breathe with? That
one thing is air. There are so many different types of air that we are
confronted with on a daily basis. In the natural atmosphere, the air in
some
places is filled with so many pollutants, toxins, germs and odors. But on
the other hand, there are places where we can find fresh, beautiful and
  clean air too.

On a spiritual level, what type of air are you breathing in? Is it the
fresh, clean, holy presence of the Lord? Are you breathing in the aroma of
His word? Or is it filled with the things that Paul mentioned to the
church
of Corinth? "For I am afraid that when I come to visit you I won't like
what
I find, and then you won't like my response. I am afraid that I will find
quarreling, jealously, outbursts of anger, selfishness, backstabbing,
  gossip, conceit, and disorderly behavior."
  (2 Corinthians 12:20, NLT).

When we go for a physical check-up, most of the time the doctor will tell
us
to "take a deep long breath and then let it out!" They check to see if our
breathing and everything associated with it, is operating the way it
should
be. This is also what the Holy Spirit does for us. The Holy Spirit lives
in
us so that we can demonstrate all of the fruits of the spirit and become
more like Christ, have a consistent prayer life and study of God's word,
have the power to witness to folks, be ready for any spiritual battle, and
have the power to say no to all kinds of sin.

Spiritual breathing is just like physical breathing. We need it to live
and
survive our Christian walk. We inhale and we exhale. If we inhale long,
deep
breaths of the Lord's presence, his word, his will, his way, his plan, his
promises, his love, his joy, his peace, and a long deep prayer life, we
will
breathe out all of that other stuff that's causing the air in our
spiritual
  body (temple) to be dirty!
We'll exhale it! The only way that we can keep the air that we breathe
from
being polluted, is by continuing to ask the Holy Spirit to live in us, and
us living by the Spirit's power. "For though your hearts were once full of
darkness, now you are full of light from the Lord, and your behavior
should
show it! For this light within you produces only what is good and right
and
  true." (Ephesians 5:8-9, NLT)

Breathe in, breathe out. In the natural, we do it because that's how God
made us. In the spiritual, we have to do the same for survival and growth.
One thing to remember is that spiritual breathing is voluntary; it's your
choice and all it is, is the process of inhaling what's pure and clean and
exhaling what's not pure and clean.

Scripture Of The Day: "For though your hearts were once full of darkness,
now you are full of light from the Lord, and your behavior should show it!
For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true."
-
  Ephesians 5:8-9 (NLT)

Re: [JAWS-Users] characters repeated

Open up a game with the botts. Then do a insert + 6. This will open
it up in the right script, or you can look for it in the program list.
You want user, right arrow and then down to typing echo, arrow it to
off. Now ok. When you play the keys should now only say what is in the script.

That only works for the main part of the keyboard, not on the tab,

To get those keys to stop saying there name.
Do a insert + j, options, basic. you want the first choice tutor

To prevent the Tab and other keys from repeating when you press them, do the

1. Press Insert+J to activate the JAWS window.

2. Go to the Settings Centre in the Utilities menu.

3. Under User, uncheck the Key Repeat checkbox and press Enter to exit the
Settings Centre.

4. Unload JAWS with Insert+F4 and reload it so that the Key Repeat change
takes effect. This will solve your problem.

Re: [JAWS-Users] WHAT TO KNOW WHEN SHOPPING FOR A SOUND CARD

2011-10-09 Thread Trouble
Some of the questions that mean most here is what type of out puts do
you need if any special, and do you want it in the computer or as a
USB device? Most of the USB type have more than enough ports for just
about any thing you want to connect to it. About the only thing you
may need is a cable to make it easy reach to user. The one thing you
need to look at is how much it will handle as in built in ram.
A lot of users on this list have either a USB sound card or a USB
headset. They can also be used if USB ports are short.
personally, I use a wireless logitech headset g930 it comes with
everything for use out of box.

With the prices of the USB type you can actually go with both if desired.
Now as far as jaws goes or just being blind in general, don't mean a
thing with sound cards. Because jaws has no spec's for sound cards
any will do, its price that works. i will tell you this, Don't just
get the cheapest or a off the wall name. Check with google and read
some reviews on what your looking at. And another site I found
helpful when buying computer parts is YouTube.com Some vids on there
will show you working, what comes in box and what they think.

At 09:25 PM 10/8/2011, you wrote:

Hi,
When selecting a sound card, what are the most important things to
look for? Creative Labs and Amazon have so many to choose from and,
of course, all the numbers that follow the name of the card made me
crazy. For over a year I've been experiencing a constant problem of
JAWS suddenly giving up the ghost for no apparent reason. Lately,
it's not occasional, but more like every minute when I'm reading by
word or line. It doesn't happen when in "say all" mode. It does
happen, though, quite often when I'm writing and when I read what I
wrote, it's there. I'd like to get a sound card because just maybe
the one the computer came with is not strong enough to accommodate
JAWS and all the sounds I set up. I'm running JAWS12 latest build
and Win7 SP1. Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This one may or nay not help you. Sense jaws has no garbage

Re: [JAWS-Users] Low on virtual memory

2011-10-04 Thread Trouble
Ok, with that much free space on the drive. You don't need to change
that. Another thing you can look at is what is playing the game for
you. This could be media player or possible quick time. They both
have buffers for playing content from the Internet. Only media player
has all the catches and don't forget to turn off its Internet junk
collector. You will see them in the preferences. You don't have to
worry about quick time, because it don't garbage collect on what you
play like media player does. Also check for tool bars on the browser.
Just about everything now has junk installing with it. The last is to
watch what is scanning in background when playing this content.
Between it and buffing the stream might run you out of ram.
This one may or nay not help you. Sense jaws has no garbage
collection on its self in ram. opening up programs puts scripts in
ram. When those programs close that ram usage is suppose to be
reclaimed. What ever fool works there removed it and now it loads up
on junk ram scripts. So a ram dumper or killing jaws and restarting
is the only way to stop this load up of ram.

Well not how it looks on my computer. In IE all version the control
+l or o will both open location for either files or URL. Firefox has
both of these keys, but they only do the function made for those keys
in firefox. FS has nothing to do with those keys. That is why you
have to type the full address in firefox.

Hi,
The open dialog in Firefox threw a curve ball at me too when I first
started using it. That dialog is really only meant for opening files
stored locally on your computer. If you use alt d to go to the address
bar rather than control o, you should have no problems typing in
addresses whether you shorten them or not. HTH.

Hi Ann Marie;

With FF, use the keystroke, control + L, to open a new web page. Control +

that can be very helpful when using Firefox.

There is a summary of all the notes at the bottom of this reply.

Hi All,

When I am using IE & type in a URL, I only have to type,
www.jaws-users.com,

but, when I am running Firefox, I have to type,
http://www.jaws-users.com.

Can anyone tell me if there is something I can check or uncheck in Firefox
that will put in the http:// for me automatically like IE does? All advice
will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much, take care.
Mike

Hi Adrian,

Thank you very much for this very helpful information. I figured out what I
was doing wrong. I was pressing,Control + O, for webpages, instead of,
Control
+ L. For those who might not know what I am talking about. In Internett
Explorer when you want to open a new webpage you invoke the Control + o,
keystroke,
then type in the URL where you want to go & press enter or, control + enter.
In Firefox you invoke the, Control + L, keystroke, then type in the URL you
want & press enter or, control + enter. Invoking the Control + O, keystroke
in Firefox, is the keystroke for opening specific files. Thanks again, take
care.

Hi Mike,

How are you doing?

Just wanted to let you know that in internet explorer, you do not need to
type in the www. when you open a new web site. An example of this is:
jaws-users.com

I learned this wen I was teaching JAWS. The student typed in the address
without the WWW. and I went to correct him and he had hit enter and the
computer went to the site.

Take care,

In both browsers I use a shortcut. Just type in the "jaws-users"
portion of the address (without the quotes) and hit Control + Enter.
This will prefix the necessary "
http://www.";
and append the ".com"
portions of the address. This however, only works with ",.com" addresses.

From:
Don Marang
I just press F6 to get to the address bar to enter a new address. This
works in IE and Firefox.

From:

Hi, Mike.

That's right, but I think it works only if it's a commonly visited website
or one in your history. Let's see if I can summarize what we've discussed,
with some additional information that has come to mind.

1. Control-l brings up the edit field in which to type a Web address in both
IE and Firefox. Control-o does the same in IE but not FF. So using control-l
in both cases avoids confusion.

2. In Firefox, you can save yourself having to type the
http://www.
Prefix
and .com if you just write the Website name and press control-enter. This
shortcut works only for .com addresses.

3. In most cases, it isn't necessary to write
http://www.
Before the Website
address whether in IE or FF. However, it may be necessary to write www.
Before addresses that are rarely visited and/or aren't in your history.
Also, beware of addresses that don't begin http://, such as high security
websites.

Is that a fair summary?
Adrian

Hope this has helped. Take care.
Mike

Like stated before keyboard has no effect on this problem. The reason
why is if you buy a computer in the USA. Then everything install to
English by default. Jaws will go with defaults on install unless changed.
All insert + j does is bring jaws window to front and give focus. Now
if that window is already in the foreground then the key may not work

Daily Tip:
Remove Desktop Icons

Over time, the Desktop on your computer can become cluttered with icons for
applications and shortcuts. If you don't use a particular icon, select it
and drag the icon to the Recycle Bin. Note the deleting a shortcut does not
delete the application it is associated with, so you'll still have access to
the program. Make sure, though, that the item you wish to delete from your
Desktop is actually a shortcut; if it's a file, deleting it will delete the
file itself.

OK, could be a few things here. As far as "elements" that is just
what someone named the drive, it can be changed with f2 if desired.
Now not being able to remove that drive through safely remove is the

Convenient OCR

I was a little skeptical about how useful the convenient OCR feature
would be for me, but ten minutes with JAWS 13 made me realize that it
will be a fantastic addition to my screen reading toolbox! One place I
found it to be of tremendous use was in Windows Media Center. I do use
my computer as my primary means for accessing TV channels, but while
Windows Media Center works well when you're changing channels,
exploring the guide, or scheduling and reviewing recordings, in
general, informational messages displayed on the screen are not
accessible. For example, in all the setup wizards, you can view the
choices such as yes or no, but not the information on what exactly
it's asking. That means before now, if you wanted to get an accurate
idea of which settings you were changing in Media Center, or access
any advanced features, you needed to have sighted help. I am pleased
to say that the Convenient OCR feature did a great job in this
respect. There were a few clerical errors in the results, as is common
for most text recognition engines, but it made every single screen in
Media Center accessible to me. I'll now be able to use it, as well as
many other formerly inaccessible applications, independently.

Many people have stated that Convenient OCR won't perform very well
when you want to recognize large passages of text; unfortunately, I
think that is a completely accurate criticism. Where Convenient OCR
shines, in my view, is the ability to interact dynamically with the
OCR results. For example, suppose you took a screenshot of your DVD's
menu and performed OCR on it within openbook or Kurzweil 1000. You
might get accurate results, but it would be hard to do anything with
them. With Convenient OCR you'll be able to mouse-click on specific
portions of the text as though you were clicking on part of the menu.
This is where Convenient OCR excels.

I must say I find the default OCR voice to be a little bit silly,
though of course that is easily changed from within Settings Center.
In my case I simply deleted then re-created the voice alias, so that
it would use my current voice and not alter it.

JAWS Cursor support in Internet Explorer 9

I was pleased to learn that JAWS 13 includes full support for the use
of the JAWS Cursor in Internet Explorer 9, but I'm sad to say that
this still doesn't work for me. Attempting to use the JAWS cursor on
any website within IE9 results in a blank message being spoken, or the
computer hanging for several seconds. I have reported this issue to
Freedom Scientific.

JAWS Quick Settings

Of course JAWS quick settings isn't a true "feature" - it's merely a
reorganization of something that was always present in JAWS. That
said, I do find the new Quick Settings to be a more consolidated and
logical approach than the three separate dialogs (adjust JAWS options,
braille settings, and personalized web settings) that used to exist in
prior versions of JAWS.

Results Viewer

This increased flexibility for reading certain virtual screens within
JAWS is certainly welcome-though given that it only supports a few
designated screens (research it, skim reading, and custom summary-none
of which I really need full HTML support for) it's hard to get too
excited about the feature. I'm hopeful that script developers will
find some interesting and creative uses for the feature, though to be
honest I'd be surprised if the average user experienced any incredible
increase in efficiency because of the feature.

JAWS Find with context-specific history

Again, I see this more as an "enhancement" than a feature, but it'll
be nice to have a more relevant display of search history items. For
example, on a frequently-visited forums website I have a couple
different search strings that I utilize to navigate to specific parts
of the forums, but of course those aren't relevant when I'm reading

The OCR thing is way cool. Especially when Errick read the DVD main menu
with it. Think about it. If JFW 13 when it does work with Win 8 doesn't
hook like NVDA and System Access do, it'll be
So much easyer still to watch a DVD on your own. Pluss you'll be using WMP
which is already easy to use some what as it is. This will only make it all
the more easier. Assuming JAWS works with out hooking to the Video that is.
See because since it does that WMP thinks JAWS wants to coppy the disk so
that's why one gets that diolauge about not being able to run the analogue
coppy protection thing. In short, If JAWS doesn't hook to the video in Win
8, and if the OCR can scan DVD menus like it did for Erick, watching movies
will be golden on the PC.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Skype, JAWS and Audacity

2011-09-13 Thread Trouble
Its not the laptop that gives you what your looking for or the
operating system. You need a sound card that will let you have the
input and output on one output channel. The sound blaster cards did
this with the "what you hear" feature. There are other cards that
provide that function also.

At 08:06 AM 9/13/2011, you wrote:

I have a question regarding JAWS and recording conversations on Skype using

My friend needs a laptop that will record conversations using the Audacity
program which will also pick up, not only the voice of the other person, but
JAWS as well. He not only needs JAWS picked up during a recording, but
picked up during a conversation with someone else that is not being
recorded.

Right now he is using a Toshiba laptop with Vista that does just this. There
is no problem recording conversations with others and JAWS using Audacity
and picking up everything and no problem for the person he is speaking with
outside of a recording hearing JAWS clearly while on Skype with him.

Because he needs to replace this laptop, he is looking for a laptop that
will do the same thing as he is taking a class that needs these functions.
He has tried several Toshiba laptops, an Asus and an HP. All use Windows 7.
The HP worked just the same as his Vista, however, there were other problems
with this laptop and he needed to return it.

Toshiba is telling him that there is no problem with their product and that
it is a Windows 7 or Skype issue, however, as I explained, it worked fine
with the HP which also used Windows 7. He uses the latest version of Skype
and he used the version of Audacity which works with Windows 7.

Here are my questions.

1. Does anyone use a laptop with Windows 7 that will pick up a recorded
conversation, both voices and JAWS using Audacity? A desktop computer is not
an option and another recording program is not an option. It must be a
laptop with Windows 7 and Audacity.

2. If anyone has used such a computer and found it to be something that they
didn't like, was there a setting in Skype, Audacity or Windows 7 that they
changed to stop it from occurring. If so, where can that setting be found
and can it be easily reversed?

3. If there is a laptop that will work, I need both the brand and model.

Thank you.

That is just it, those are tuners. Your computer is built to handle
DVD and video files. The tuners take a cable or antenna signal and

So let me get this right you have the adapctech dual tuner and a
Hauppauge tuner card? That makes 3 tuners. You would have to have
your cable source hooked to both to get both to get channels.
Running both shouldn't be much, because there software and drivers
are different.
Now as far as DVD and video's. The computer handles those two
different. you can rip the DVD and get a 4mbg file. Because you can
only have one DVD in the CDROM.
Its not possible to get the tuner cards listings to show up with

The whole point of this, is so I would then be able to have all my

Hi Victoria, why would you need a second TV tuner card for playing
DVDs and movies? Modern Windows computers should be able to do that
right out of the box. TV tuner cards only give access to television
stations, and one, especially if it has two or more "tuners" so it can
access multiple channels at once, should be more than sufficient.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Suggestions or Cautions Please?

2011-08-31 Thread Trouble
So let me get this right you have the adapctech dual tuner and a
Hauppauge tuner card? That makes 3 tuners. You would have to have
your cable source hooked to both to get both to get channels. Running
both shouldn't be much, because there software and drivers are different.
Now as far as DVD and video's. The computer handles those two
different. you can rip the DVD and get a 4mbg file. Because you can
only have one DVD in the CDROM.
Its not possible to get the tuner cards listings to show up with the
DVD or video files. there just to different in handling.

At 12:38 PM 8/31/2011, you wrote:

My first tuner card is an Adaptech duel tuner.

I think if both channels were working, I might be home free.

What I want to happen, is for a card to give me the opportunity to
think of the DVD or video playing in the same way as a TV show that
is playing and be able to record it in the same fashion.

The whole point of this, is so I would then be able to have all my
movie titles displayed for selection, just as my recorded shows are displayed.

Thanks for your continued help! Vicky

Cheers,

initially, which caused problems for screen readers. I think they
did away with that.

I have found that getting out of Forms Mode and refreshing the page
usually solves the problem of the typed text not appearing in the
edit box. This can be accomplished by hitting the Escape key
twice. Now, you may need to press e to find the edit box
again. If you do not have Forms Mode set to automatic, press the
Space bar to enter Forms Mode.

I would rather Google remember that I do not want Instant

I don't know if that is relevant or not? I tried doing a repair on

Your right you don't see updates for MSE with the other updates.
I have it on all 3 window ops and it updates are stand alone. You

If you want to see if it updated just open the program up and read

Pressing 1 on the initial page will bring you close to the Start Test

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS and wireless keyboard

2011-08-15 Thread Trouble
you can do the right mouse, but you have to make sure it has focus.
So route jaws to pc and then hit right mouse button.
The reason you got the system menu is because nothing has focus when
just using the right mouse from num pad.

bring up another context menu on the same file that gives me file options
such as play in WinAmp. Do you know why the difference in opening a context
menu would occur on the same file?

I will be getting a Logitech Wireless keyboard, solar 750. This particular
keyboard doesn't have an application key, so I will need to use the shift
F10. I know in older versions of JAWS you could reroute certain key commands
to other keys. For example, I moved my battery status indication so that it
spoke whenever I pressed the grave accent key. I can't remember how to do
this in JAWS and I'm wondering if it can even be done with the shift f10.

I'm using JAWS 11 and want to make that shift f10 keystroke work by pressing
a single key. Can it be done? If so, how.

Thanks.

You can type the words "windows update" (without the quotes) in the start
menu search box and press enter when you hear that choice. When Windows
update opens, use shift+tab a couple of times until you hear the link for
the important updates. Press enter on the link. You will get a list of
updates. Use up or down arrow key to the one you want to hide. Use the
application key or shift+f10 to bring up the contextual menu. Use down
arrow in the menu until you find the choice to hide the update and press

Re: [JAWS-Users] The JAWS program for the Mac

2011-07-19 Thread Trouble
ok, here is some key strokes that will work on any mac to get
VoiceOver working.

If on a iMac or mac pro,
Just do command key + f5 to turn on.
If using a bookPro,
Just do a fn key + command key + f5.
If you do a control + option key +k, turn on keyboard mode like
insert +1 for jaws.

If you do a control +option + h, turns on help menu for voiceOver commands.
Now for some keyboard key location. You can use any keyboard.
Starting from left bottom, control key, windows/option key, alt/command key.

That should get you up and going to have a look around.

No. The bad news is that there is no jaws for mac. The good news is
that any recent version of the mac operating system already comes
with the screenreader for mac tied into the operating system. This
native Mac Screenreader is Called Voiceover and has becomeq quite

Re: [JAWS-Users] The JAWS program for the Mac

2011-07-19 Thread Trouble
I switched most stuff over to my mac, because you don't have to set
the op different. VoiceOver will run no matter how you have the op
configured. Being built into the op lets it recover from speech crash
just by turning it off and back on. no rebooting!
Also here is the big plus. When the op is upgraded so is VoiceOver.
So you get op and screen reader for around $30 a lot cheaper for
something that works.

Re: [JAWS-Users] How to decrease time for JAWS to respond

2011-07-07 Thread Trouble

Do a scanDisk on both.
Just go to desk top, myComputer, hit enter. Now on the local drive
hit application key and chose properties...
Then do a control + tab and hit enter. Tab to fix drive and check.
Then ok your way out.

When you reboot it will do that job.
after that is done. Run defrag on the system, and disk clean up. You
can find that in accessories, system tools, disk clean up.

If you have a registry cleaner run it also.
Now your all clean.
Do a insert + f11, and see just what all is running.
For some you may have to go into control panel, task bar and startup
menu. Just un check hide icons and they will show all.
Stop all that don't need to run and then shut computer off and once
off restart it.
That will purge the memory and come up clean. Where a reboot will
still keep junk around.

Would you mind telling me what Java Access Bridge is and if it is something

Thanks in advance.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 12 Not Saying Copy, Cut or pasted

2011-06-25 Thread Trouble
Guess so, because it does it on mine. Its only after a reboot and
then only for a short time does it say it.

I have noticed the JAWS 12 with Windows 7 does not say copy, cut or

Is this normal?

Re: [JAWS-Users] interesting issue with win7 jaws11 volume control

2011-06-21 Thread Trouble
Jaws don't have anything to do with the volume controls. You should
ask your computer tech about that one.

controls? Thanks Heather

Re: [JAWS-Users] problems with updating to windows seven

2011-06-15 Thread Trouble

Ok, nice little problem you got there.
Here is what I need.
1 All system spec's.
2. Name of video card and any info given by display settings.
If you have skipe we can talk or just go by email. up to you on that
one, and can also do tandem if not sure where to find all the stuff.

Hi list, I have an ongoing problem that I thought I would share with you.

I updated my Acer Aspire M 1202 Vista OS to windows seven about two weeks ago.

I have choppy speech in some places, the search box on the start
menu will not pull up results until I have the whole word typed in
most of the time.

Most of the time I just type in part of the word I am looking for,
and up and down arrow until it shows up.

I have been working with freedom Scientific tech. support level two.

They think that it is my video card, they think it needs updated.

When talking with the store, they say that it is the same video card
that came with the computer.

I was wondering if anyone could help me on the list or off the list
to correct this problem.

I am out of ideas about what to try next.

As far as I know, I have the latest video card for this computer.

I totally removed jaws and all of its shared components and
reinstalled jaws and updated it to the latest version.

Any help would e appreciated, thanks and god bless all of you.

Jim

Re: [JAWS-Users] Connecting a wireless headset

2011-06-13 Thread Trouble

The one I have is, and it goes about 40ft before dropping connection.
The headset is accessible and the software is also for main
functions. There are some unlabeled buttons, but it don't effect main setup.

I got them at Amazon for about half off and needed 2 of them so it was a deal.
The battery lasts about 10 hours and it tells you when its 1 hour
from needing a charge.

What type of logitech headset do you have.
Just hooked up their g930 and everything switched for me, didn't have
to change settings except on the mic.
