[JAWS-Users] Vipre antivirus and malwarebytes!
Wayne, to answer your question, vipre antivirus is screenreader friendly, but you want version 2014, I’ve been talking with threattrack security, the manufacturing company that makes vipre, and they’re out of clearwater florida! they’re working on making version 2016 more accessible with jaws! I’ve been talking with their product specialist, by the name of Ethan Kanar Version 2015 isn’t verry accessible in certain parts of the interface. Re: [JAWS-Users] Vipre antivirus and malwarebytes!
hi, you do realise since win8 you no longer require third party av. microsoft have re-designed the built in security from start to end. for example, enabling enhanced protection mode in internet explorer creates a sandbox around the os. many articles have tested this statement and explain that the core intergrated security is more powerful and effective in av protection than the third party counter parts.when you install third party av these disable the built in security features. i have been running win8 for over 2years without third party av and touch wood no viruses and windows is running much faster and quiter. the biggest hurdle the average user has to overcome is the notion that having no third party av does not mean your pc is more vulnerable to attacks. microsofts intergrated security provides protection in the background, heck they don’t even place the defender icon in the system tray anymore. Re: [JAWS-Users] Vipre antivirus and malwarebytes!
Trojans, worms and the like will be taken care of by Vipre, Malware Bytes has beefed up its array of malware that is will detect and clean in recent updates, but it used to be limited to things like spyware, ad ware, and such. Again, one cannot take the place of the other. You would do well to use both. Install Vipre first however, because it will remove Malware Bytes during installation. n Mike Sent from my iPhone On Jul 19, 2015, at 8:11 AM, George Martinez CPA george.martinez...@cox.net wrote: What about protection from Trojans and other Malware? “If I continue to do the same things I have always done and am believing for change in my life… That is a form of “insanity!” George A Martinez CPA, PC 12231 North 50th Avenue Glendale, AZ 85304-2215 Voice 602.368.8854 FAX 206.666.2589 Email george.martinez...@cox.net -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of dan Sent: Sunday, July 19, 2015 4:25 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Vipre antivirus and malwarebytes! hi, you do realise since win8 you no longer require third party av. microsoft have re-designed the built in security from start to end. for example, enabling enhanced protection mode in internet explorer creates a sandbox around the os. many articles have tested this statement and explain that the core intergrated security is more powerful and effective in av protection than the third party counter parts.when you install third party av these disable the built in security features. i have been running win8 for over 2years without third party av and touch wood no viruses and windows is running much faster and quiter. the biggest hurdle the average user has to overcome is the notion that having no third party av does not mean your pc is more vulnerable to attacks. microsofts intergrated security provides protection in the background, heck they don’t even place the defender icon in the system tray anymore. Hi Kevin, If you want to manually delete items from the Vipre quarantine, start by pressing enter to select the manage tab in the program. Then tab down a couple of times to the Advanced Settings tab. It should have a button that reads Manage quarantine, so press enter on this button. Then simply follow the steps through to select the active action as delete, then tab down to the Perform Selected Action button and press enter on this. The selected items in your quarantine should now be deleted. You can follow the same steps to verify that they actually were. go to control panels folder options enter to open it control+tab to view arrow down to hide system folders and files it should be yes by default press space bar on it to change to no tab to ok after you finish doing whatever you needed to do it’s a good idea that when your finished to turn the hide system files and folders back to yes its easier to do that because when you tab to ok the tab before ok is reset all back to default -Original Message- From: james hooper Sent: Sunday, April 26, 2015 4:22 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] vipre antivirus 2014 Using windows 7 how do you unhide all the system folders? -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Kevin Lee Sent: Sunday, April 26, 2015 5:20 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] vipre antivirus 2014 cool Thank you Mike, I got the quarantined Trojans out! -Original Message- From: Michael B. I'm still hesitant to upgrade to 2015 in fear that it won't be useable with JAWS 14. if I upgrade, is it possible to revert to 2014? will there be any residual effects from downgrading? any advise to offer? - Original Message - From: Kevin Lee klee...@gmail.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Friday, March 13, 2015 11:08 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] vipre antivirus 2015 version 7 is 2014 version 2015 is 8, -Original Message- From: James if hooper Sent: Friday, March 13, 2015 6:23 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] vipre antivirus 2015 How do you find what version you are using I went to help it said version 7 I can't velieve it. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Michael Boyd Sent: Friday, March 13, 2015 7:14 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] vipre antivirus 2015 Kevin, After opening Vipre, tab down to the My Vipre Navigation and press enter on this. Here, it gets a little tricky, but go ahead and tab down further, and do not pay attention to what is checked, and what is not. You are going to hear that the Quick scan is checked, but you are actually going to schedule the Deep scan if that is what you select to do. Next, you will come to the area where you can set the hour of the start time for the scan, so just left or right arrow to set the hour to where you want it. Now, just tab down to set the minutes, they will be displayed in 5 minute intervals, then repeat the same action to set the time to AM or PM. OK, now tab down a couple of times and check the boxes for which days of the week you want the scan to run on. Lastly, tab down and select the Done button, and tab back around to schedule the Quick scans if you want them. Now, Vipre by default checks for new threat definitions every 30 minutes, but if you want to manually check for these, tab to the Manage tab and press enter on this. Next tab down twice, and you should find the Updates tab, and you can tab down from here to find the Update definitions item, and options to update Vipre software patches, and Vipre software updates. Note, if at any time you cannot find a particular item, try arrowing left or right to find it. As far as I can find, the function keys are not used for anything in this version of Vipre, although I have not tried all key combinations. I think there's a distinction to make between a program being accessible versus being screen reader friendly, in that a program that is screen reader friendly allows a blind user to utilize that program more effectively rather than that program just being accessible, which does not promote useability by the blind user. especially with a security suite, one has to respond in a timely manner, and for blind users, we need to be able to do the same. the more screen reader friendly a program is, the more frequently a blind user will use said program. Re: [JAWS-Users] vipre antivirus
Since the latest update of JAWS 16, vipre 2015 has become more compatible. You must realize that the user interface has changed from what the previous versions were, and it is like learning a new program. You will have to change some of the settings in vipre when you first install it, but all of these settings are accessible. these include setting up the schedule on which you want Vipre to scan your computer, and if you want a full (Threat) scan or a Quick scan. there are also check boxes for things lllike setting the program to handle threats which are detected automatically or not, and some other things, like setting the length of time which passes before Vipre deletes quarantined threats automatically. However, once you have all of this set up, and you do choose to let Vipre take care of the threats without notifying you, then you can pretty much let it go without having to mess around with it. The part that was so inaccessible before, but now is more so, is the Quarantine and the ability to remove threats from your computer manually, but this is now possible since the latest update of JAWS 16. One other thing, I do recommend using a secondary malware software with Vipre, like Malware Bytes. I think I would do this with any antivirus software, it just makes good sense to cover your tracks. Re: [JAWS-Users] Vipre antivirus!
Hi Friend, Can you please make shore that?Because Avast sometimes behave like an inaccessible program it will become all write after restarting Jaws or the entire system. Also, Vipre is a good choice; it is very famous in the corporative world. But the latest version of Vipre (v2015) is just released according to the reviews, they have modified the user interface. So, it is better for you to use the trial before purchasing it On 11/16/2014 4:31 AM, Bob Edenhofer wrote: I’m all done with avast! the latest version of avast, whitch is 10.0, is totally unaccessible with screenreaders, so I’m going to purchase vipre antivirus! Enabled, Not Available, means that it is not available to be disabled. I am not running Vipre right now, but I did for years, and as I remember, wwhen you open the program, you are on the scan tab, and it is either here, or in the file menu, ALT + F, that you find the enable button or check box. Then the first item under the Firewall tab allows you to enable or disable the firewall by checking or unchecking a box. Yesterday mine said it was not enabled when I started the computer after being shut down for several days. I went to the Vipre icon I keep on the desktop and went to settings and went through these to be sure none were changed. Now the Vipre icon is back in the system tray and says enabled. I think it is Jaws-friendly, provided they didn't change the interface from the 2011 version I tried. However, you're fooling yourself if you think it is anything close to being highly rated. In tests, it only caught 74% of malware, compared to Norton's 89% and Kasperski's 87%. Re: [JAWS-Users] VIPRE antivirus
Hello. I can say that I have been using VIPRE for 5 years now and it works perfectly in all ways and at all levels. You cannot just believe everything you hear about a study, but you must assess your own needs and then try something out yourself for a while to see exactly how any program performs for you, taking all into consideration. Many friends and professionals I know use only VIPRE and I have not met even one who is or has been dissatisfied with VIPRE in any way. I deal with foreign countries often and hackers are abundant besides. In other words, selecting an Anti-Virus and Anti Spyware program to meet your needs is a totally individual call, IMO. Therefore, I encourage all those seeking to change to anything, VIPRE included, that they should not go entirely by what they read but rather talk with those who use the program and who have for years first. There are many in this group who are totally satisfied with VIPRE and all it offers, does and works well with JAWS also. Be careful not to be drawn into the game of studies because who knows the basis for all of these anyway??? Only my two cents... Re: [JAWS-Users] VIPRE antivirus
Because it is jaws friendly that is the mane reason that I went with it. I also saw some testing reviews where it was rated the best. I do not think that really matters the top 5 or 6 all are good. The other reason was the support. It is in Florida and I do not have a language barrier problem and the support is available a few hours every day but not 24 hours. They also will not charge to remove a virus if necessary. But the main reason was to be able to use it with jaws. Also the price was not bad. $89 for 2 computers for a period of 3 years. Their support was great. They quickly submitted the ultragroups.us as a false positive for me since I was having a problem. -Original Message- From: Judy Sent: Monday, March 17, 2014 6:42 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] VIPRE antivirus This brings up a good point.
