Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook 2013 question about Gmail

2015-09-15 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi

I can't speak for Outlook 2013, but if you have a non-Gmail account, another
way to receive messages you send to an email list using the Gmail account is
to set up your Gmail account to use the outgoing server from your non-Gmail
account. You'll have to specify the user name and password for the outgoing
non-Gmail account. I like this method better because with the recent-colon
method, you receive a copy of every email you send via the Gmail account.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] outlook 2013 question about Gmail

The question has arisen about configuring a Gmail account to receive your
own messages posted to a mailing list. I was under the impression the fix is
still the same as it was for several years placing the word recent with a
Colon after that before the account name on the server tab.

I must admit that I don't have 2013 although with some stumbling around am
able to figure things out when needed. I tried the fix mentioned above but
the server would not accept the password for the account until I removed the
recent fix so to speak.

So what is needed is somebody with greater experience with outlook 2013 to
chime in and give me some much guidance.

It is annoying when something I know should work does not and screws up my
batting average for the lack of a better term.

That sounds like a good idea, it didn't cross my mind in this instance. I
have had to do that method for folks who use web mail that have com cast as
their provider since that service insists on people using their outgoing

Hi Dacia,

What antivirus are you running? There are a couple of antivirus programs
that will give OE problems unless you know how to tweak them.

Did you run the installer as Administrator? This is a must.

After unstalling OE did you restart the computer? This is necessary so that
OE can finish installing important files.
Take care.

Here's what I do. In the, to, box, I start typing the name of the person I
am emailing. If that name doesn't come up after a few letters, then I use
the up and down arrows to look for it. If the person is in my contact list
or if I have ever sent an email to that person it should show up. When it
does press tap to go to the next field. If I can't find that person that
way, I know I have to put them in my contacts list. Then the next time I
want to send them an email, their name will come up.

Hello Gang:

With Outlook 2013 e-mail, how do you get addresses into the to field? I
heard they are not automatically pulled from the address book, after you
start typing a few letters. Is that true?

If so, what do you do? No one can remember all e-mail addresses?

It does have auto-complete - it being Outlook 2013. My computer guy said
enter after each recipient. That could be where I have had more difficulty,
not being used to that.

Hello,
I am using JAWS build 4350, Win 10 and Outlook 2013. I do like Win
10, but I have noticed that when opening an e-mail, JAWS will hesitate for a
few seconds before saying to and then edit. This only happens every so
often.

Also, when I open some e-mails to read they will also hesitate
before I can read them. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed anything
like this, and if there is anything that can be done about it.

I would appreciate any thoughts on the subject.

Thanks,

Allen

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook Express and Outlook.

2015-08-06 Thread Michael Boyd
Windows Live Mail is free, and is part of a suite of programs called Windows
Live Essentials, which includes Mail, Writer, One Drive,Photo Gallery, and
Movie Maker. You can choose which of these you want to install, and to me,
Mail is the only one that I would have. I haven't used Outlook Express, but
I do know that Windows Live Mail, when developed, was taken straight from
the Outlook Express program. In fact, when you open your Inbox in Windows
Live Mail, JAWS reads Outlook Express message list view. The web address
for the download of Windows Live Essentials is:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/essentials

The last version of this program is 2012, but it is still a very good suite
of stuff.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook Express and Outlook.

2015-08-06 Thread Michael Boyd
I only wished that I could tell you Carolyn. I have Outlook 2013 installed
on my computer, and even have my email accounts set up in it, but I am a big
fan of Windows Live Mail, so that is what I use. It doesn't seem like I have
the time to teach myself the ins and outs of Outlook anymore.

I think that the keyboard command restart is preferable to the forced
restart by pressing the small button in the vicinity of the son-off

forced restart, I always get a non-JAWS readable Windows screen from

2015-04-15 Thread Reed Poynter
Hey Jim,

When you are in there changing your settings for the reading pain, there is
a checkbox to apply those settings to all folders. You don't have to go
into each folder. I don't remember exactly where it is. Have a look around
and you should find the checkbox.

I hope this is a jaws issue, but if it isn't, I'll contact Microsoft.

When I open an email, it starts reading at the end of the message. I can
arrow up to the top and read it that way,, but that's annoying. I have
outlook to read automatically, but it sure isn't doing that. I have outlook
2010, of course,

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2010 messages not reading subject field in list view

2015-04-13 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi

Have you tried restarting JAWS or rebooting your computer? If that doesn't
help, try routing the JAWS cursor to the PC cursor and see if the subject
shows up When you do a SayLine. If the subject isn't there, go to the view
ribbon and in the current view group choose view settings. You will find an
entry that says columns. In this item you can add or remove columns and
change the order in which they are displayed.

list view

I use JAWS 16, Win 7 and Outlook 2010 as my e-mail client.

I never had this problem before. I have the date, day and time and also the
To Field read in the list view of messages in Outlook 2010. I no longer
have the subject field read and this is the most important thing that needs
to be read.

Does anybody know where I can go in Outlook 2010 to get the subject field
read again in the header of incoming messages into my In Box?

Thanks very much!

I didn't fail the test. I just found 100 different ways to do it wrong.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2010, missing contacts

2015-03-28 Thread david
There are 2 ways to access the outlook contacts.

The first way is,
Ctrl+shift+b=book,
This will land you on an search edit field, So you could type in a contact's
name to search, Or, you could tab once to get into the list of contacts, Now
use your arrow keys, If you would want to send a message to a particular
contact while you're inside the contacts, Just arrow to the contacts
name/email, Now press ctrl+n=new message, Note, the person's information, is
already placed into the to field, thus, you land on the subject, If you tab,
you're placed into the body of the message.
The second way to access you're contacts,
Ctrl+#3 on the numbers row,
You land inside the contacts,
Tab once to the edit field, type a contacts name,
Shift+tab, the name should be their.

Adding contact;

Here's a couple ways you can do this.

The first way, is,

Press ctrl+shift+c
This will place you on a screen where you can add a contact, Use the tab key
to access the criteria, Once you've completed filling in the various fields,
Press escape key, and say yes to save.
The second way is,

1, open a message from the person whom you wish to add/reply to,

2, now shift+tab until you hear;
From: the person's name and email address; Move your left arrow to highlight
the name/email

3, press the applications key,
Up arrow and enter on,
Add to outlook contacts,

Note, your now being placed into a screen with all the information, Name,
email address, Etc.
If your satisfied with the nameemail,
Just press the escape key, your being ask, if you wish to save this
information, just say yes.

If you're wanting to use ctrl+3 to get into your contacts, Try the
following;

From the inbox,
You can either,
Ctrl+3=contacts,
Or you could from the inbox, ctrl+y=go to, Press c=contacts, and press
enter.
Now once your in the contacts,
Tab to the edit field,
Type in:
example; Jaws-users
Shift+tab you should see the jaws users list email address.
To take this further,
You could,
Press applications key,
Down arrow and enter on,
Create sub menu,
Now choose email,
So now you will see the jaws users email in the to edit field.
In fact, you are placed into the subject line.

I'm trying to help someone with a problem. using JAWS 14 with Outlook 2010,
none of her contacts (over 300) appear in the address book. what does she
have to do for JAWS to see her contacts?

after she issued control+shift+b, JAWS just says contacts and suggested
contacts, but she can't even see how to find an email when it is already in
the contact list. she also can not figure out how to add a contact.

however, there seems to be no access to the spell check.

the client is running jaws 16, windows 7, and office 2013.

spell check works fine in outlook 2013.

is there something I'm missing?

Believe it or not that is how I did it as well. Of course on this ladies
computer the impossible is often the fact of the day.

Hi David Javad,

I always import my address book into OE using a WAB file. I put the WAB file
in My Documents, open OE / Addressbook, go to the file menu / import, press
enter on addressbook, navigate the long way to my saved addressbook in the
Documents folder. What I mean by the long way is, I tab, not shift tab, to my
name folder, right arrow to open, find My Documents, press enter, tab into
the list of files. If you just press enter on a WAB file that's in the My
Documents folder, it will be saved into the contacts folder in, C:\User s\
YourName \ Contacts. HTH Take care.

There does not seem to be any way around this problem. I just did this the
other day for a lady over tandem and everything I did failed. It said that
CSV files were no problem but that didn't work. So I tried a WAB file which
also was supposed to work, and it even said the import was successful. Then
when I check if all of her contacts were in fact imported, the address book
was still empty.

I know it is sometimes better to be lucky than good but unfortunately both

Hi David,

No. There is no inbuilt spellcheck. You have to locate one independently.
(The last one supported in English was the Office 2003 spelchecker.)

Hi Everyone,
I experienced the same error as another member reported earlier, and here is
how I solved the problem.
1. When installing OE, while you are focused on the installation file, press
the applications key to open the context menu.
2. From this menu, select run as administrator, and press enter.
3. Follow the prompts to install OE, and then make sure to reboot the
computer after the installation is complete.
4. When the computer is finished re-booting, go to the desktop, and locate
the shortcut for OE.
5. Press the applications key and from the context menu, choose properties,
and press enter.
6. In this dialogue, you will be on the general tab, so just tab until you
come to the run combo box, and arrow to maximized,
this will open the program in a maximized window every time.
7. Now tab to the advanced button, and spacebar that.
8. in this dialogue, tab to the checkbox to run as administrator, and check
it, then tab to okay, and spacebar that.
9. At this point you should have returned to the general tab, so just tab to
the apply button, spacebar that, and then the same with the okay button.
You are done.
The latest build of the OE for Win7, does work with Windows 10, I just
installed it prior to sending this message.

HTH,

Yes, it is although there is a script that you should run to enable Jaws to
recognize you are running OE; since OE is not normally available if you run

Seems to be a Jaws bug. Have noticed it with JFW 15 and now 16. Very hit and
miss. If you press enter after typing a letter or two, and then do a read
line command, you'll indeed see an email address has been entered. Same if
you begin to type an address and arrow up or down. Differetn addresses will
pop up accordingly.

2015-01-26 Thread Alan Robbins
The other thing you can do is start typing the contact name
in and then hit Ctrl K. This will then present you with a
list of all matches containing what you have typed so far.
The more you type in, the more precise the choice list is. I
use this all the time.

Best,
Al

Subject: [JAWS-Users] outlook not bringing up addresses

Hi, all, sometimes when I am in outlook and I want to send a
new message, after hitting the control n, I'll press the
letter of who I want and the addresses starting with that
letter come up to choose from. Sometimes it just won't do it
at all, and brings up nothing. If I shut down the computer
and reboot, it will work. Does anyone have any idea why this
may happen and if there is anything else to do other than
shutting down? Thanks. Judy Tallie

If memory serves, I believe it is different from machine-to-machine,
and I advise you to refer to your manual.
For example, my dell machine to do this was fn plus FFive, and I've
read others where it was FNF3 for their machine.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2010 status line issue

2015-01-08 Thread Louise Johnson
Hi here is the way I read how many messages that are in a in box or a
folder.

Insert page down this is the only way I know to read how many I have to go
through.

The question I have is why haven't they given us a way to know what number
you are in the list.

Thank you.
I am not familiar with this Imap settup. Can this type of settup be changed.
You are correct about the slowness issues.

That sounds like an iMap set up to me. Pop3 does this along with Exchange
accounts, but have never been able to get iMap accounts to read this info.
Furthermore, you'll find that Jaws behaves very slowly with iMap accounts.
Deleting emails, etc.

List, installed Office 2010 on a new Toshiba notebook running windows 7 and
Jaws 15 and 16.
I thought I had set up the Outlook 2010 correctly, but my status line does
not indicate the number of messages as it does on my other computer running
office 2003.
While on the message list, when I do a read bottom (status) line, jaws says
filter applied, connected, 100%).
Any thoughts? Cannot find anything in the view menu to change to get the
number of messages in the particular folder.
John
