just curious, was this the first time you saw them? Cause i thought this was
prolly their worst show in philly, they were good, but the sound in that
place is horrible, and isaac just wasnt into the show... nor was the crowd

[MMouse]: Philly Thugs

2000-09-25 Thread Dustin Summers

they better not ever play the electric factory again it was cold as shit
in there, there was rain dripping from the ceiling, and there was a like a 4
foot gap between the kids and the stage. Anyway read it and weep 20 song set
from the mouse tonight, ohhh and black hearts procession was there, i didnt
realize how many insturments they use, on record it sounds like its very
minimal, but they had a whole slew of things up there, 82 key keyboard, a
saw, and sheets of metal... oh and one more thing, they had new posters, not
the 6 squares ones either like they have had at irving plaza, these new ones
are really nice, 3 color (i think) silk screen on some heavy stock, the
image is a line of those Arctic Cat type snow vehicles either that or just
some heavy machinery im not sure wich, posters are green and blue, and
modest mouse in the top left corner and at the bottom it says Black Glass

2000-09-24 Thread Dustin Summers

""all i have to say about last nights show was wow!!""

you better post more than wow or these kids are gonna start screaming at you
for filling there mail box with drivel

some subject lines and/or discussions you might want to add to your next one
line post to please the kids and make yourself sound super cool--

-Yeah I know, at the drive in fuckin rawkss dde
-At the Drive In? they sound like rage
-I met Isaac he was really nice, and i kissed him on his cheek too
-What does GYBE stand for anyways?
-What does GYBE sound like anyways?
-GYBE rules dude
-GYBE's side project "insert any 3-6 word name having to do with mountian
here" raks
-Im gonna be wearing "describe your clothes, make sure you are wearing a
quasi shirt, its manditory" to the show tomorrow
-Dusty rawks (this one is pretty much appropriate for any post you might
want to make)

Ok so now some real content, you guys know that poster they are selling at
the shows? is that poster a single pressing of 2000 copies? the one they had
ondisplay had 4/2000 in it, which is kinda weird cause it looked like it was
offset printed, not silkscreend or anything

Re: [MMouse]:

2000-09-17 Thread Dustin Summers

ok ive wanted to mention this for a while but it has always been out of
context and such, but now someone has supplied me with the context so im
gonna mention it, here we go:

why on earth are people bidding up wards of 40 bucks on the "ultra rare"
modest mouse tour poster that you can get at updirect.com for 7 bucks? and
then... there is the buffalo silkscreened poster "ultra rare" again that ive
seen going for nearly 25 bucks, that updirect sells.. or used to sell for a
dollar??? and... the night on the sun "ultra rare" vinyl is going for 25 or
so as well, but its still available at updirect anyway i know the answer
to the question but i just wanted to make point of saying this on the list
becuase im concerned that some of you guys are actually bidding on this
stuff not knowing you can still get it from up

so uhhh who wants to buy my yellow modest mouse buffalo shirt that doesnt
really fit right cause the neck is too small and it has some weird stains on
it that i cant for the life of me remember where they came from, but dude
its "ULTRA RARE" im asking 20 bucks, hey isacc sold this too me himself, 30
bucks, let the price war begin

[MMouse]: rollingstone?

2000-06-20 Thread Dustin Summers

i dunno if this link was posted already or what but here is the
rolling stone review of the moon. 3.5 stars, i think thats what
they gave LCW way back when.

Up to this point, the Washington-state indie-rock trio
Modest Mouse has been captivated by the minutiae of
daily life. Now, as the title of their fourth album
suggests, they've gone macrocosmic. Moving beyond
the enclosed landscapes of 1997's The Lonesome
Crowded West, the band and producer Brian Deck
boldly roam from the homegrown country licks of "Wild
Packs of Family Dogs" to the otherworldly strings of
"The Cold Part" on their new album. What is lost in
warm immediacy is gained in eclectic cool: On "Tiny
Cities Made of Ashes," the band fractures its funky beat
into abstract percussive art. Singer-guitarist Isaac Brock
still sounds as earthy as dirt behind his veil of vocal

2000-04-06 Thread Dustin Summers

well, I belive the final title of the song is "life like weeds" but someone
with a boot of the new album can verify it. If have a live version of it and
it goes something like "In this life like weeds, where do you belong? eyes
need us to see, where do you belong? i know where you're from, but where do
you belong? in this life like weeds, you're a rock to me"

Re: [MMouse]: that *movie* must die!!

2000-04-02 Thread Dustin Summers

how can you not love Romeo Must Die? what with the acting talents of MR.
DMX, and if you havent seen him in Belly your missing an Oscar worthy
performance if there ever was one. I'm silently hoping that DMX takes Will
Smiths place as the quintessential rapper/actor. Imagine X in such classic
Fresh Prince roles as Men In Black, Independance Day and dare I say it The
Fresh Prince of Bel Aire, damnit DMX would kick Carltons ass all over the
mansion.

No. The Bowery Ballroom is a horrible place to see a show and they do
not deserve my money. If I had my druthers, the thing would crumble in on
