Re: [otrs] FQDN - set in SysConfig, but showing in answer message as localhost

2009-11-03 Thread Dan Kortschak
Hi Michael,

Upgrading might be a worthwhile option. The problem occurs when
attempting to respond to a ticket e.g.:

http://some.host.name.com/otrs/index.pl?Action=AgentTicketComposeResponseID=3TicketID=3ArticleID=4

I can't get it to work by changing NotificationSenderEmail
from ...@OTRS_CONFIG_FQDN to the appropriate o...@fq.dn. I had assumed
that OTRS_CONFIG_FQDN would be replaced by the server's FQDN as it is
elsewhere, but neither of these approaches work. The page show up as the
following in both cases:

Options
From:
OTRS System o...@localhost *
invalid o...@localhost (Invalid
syntax)!
To:.

The setting is obviously saved as the field is subbed into the signature
and is appropriate in the SysConfig backup when that is downloaded.

cheers
Dan

Try put a full valid e-mail address under

[otrs] FQDN - set in SysConfig, but showing in answer message as localhost

2009-11-02 Thread Dan Kortschak
Hi,

I'm trying to set up OTRS 2.3 and most of the configuration I've got
working. But though I've set the FQDN on the SysConfig page to the
appropriate value, it continues to show up as localhost in the 'Compose
answer for ticket' page to respond to tickets, giving '* invalid
o...@localhost (Invalid syntax)!'

Including the field OTRS_CONFIG_FQDN in the signature gives me the
right value in the text, so I know the configuration is being stored,
but clearly it is not being used by the compose answer page.

Can anyone help me with this?

thanks

[otrs] FQDN

2007-10-02 Thread Emily Flynn
Hello All,

I'm having a problem changing the FQDN of our OTRS system.

I had copied the mysql folder from the initial PC I set the system up on,
knowing that I could change the few settings for the new PC. In
SysConfigFrameworkCore, the FQDN is set as flynne.example.com with flynne
being the old pc.

I'm trying to change it to horizon.ourdomain.com, but each time I hit
update, it reverts back to the previous FQDN. Is there another way I can
change the FQDN by going into the mysql files? I don't know too much about
sql but I'll give any suggestions a try.

Thanks

Emily

In our setup the FQDN is set in ~otrs/Kernel/Config.pm. You could
check there.

Pass, not too sure, have you thought about upgrading to a newer

version of fedora, not sure how many (if any) others are using FC4 for
their OTRS installations.

FC5 is went EOL a couple of weeks ago, so if Rick is really still
running FC4 it might be time to upgrade, yeah. Still that shouldn't
keep him from setting his FQDN. I also have no idea why the change

Thank you guys!

This installation is a VM that came from VMware's repository and was
built buy unknown.

I am Linux savvy so I'll do as Steve Carr suggests and rebuild as these
symptoms make no sense. I really used the VM to do some evaluation work
anyway, have decided to go with OTRS and need to implement a more
production-like server anyway. This cannot be that hard and the FQDN is

I do intend to restore this setup just to see if the OS had any impact

RE: No-one has setup the FQDN??? RE: [otrs] FQDN Not Being Set -

2007-07-18 Thread Jonathon
You can set the kernel.domainname in linux by sysctl -w
kernel.domainname=the domain. That is without the of course. Linux is
a bit touchy. Typically is the domain name is not setup during installation
you have to jump through hoops to get it to work. I imagine that you set the
domain name in the hosts file and in the resolv.conf file. They all work
together.

Thanks!

And I said I was Linux savvy...

The kernel.domainname = none

The FQDN that keeps popping up (for hours and hours!) is fc4

We sure learn a lot finding the answer to these things don't we! I think
that is what drives us as technologists... I does me!

He is talking about sysctl (a commandline tool not related to OTRS),
not about SysConfig in OTRS. I have never needed to use sysctl to get
this to work though.

Did you try setting the domain name in the kernel settings also?
 You can
look at the kernel.domainname setting using sysctl.

 Thank you guys!

This installation is a VM that came from VMware's repository and was
 built buy unknown.

I am Linux savvy so I'll do as Steve Carr suggests and rebuild as
 these
symptoms make no sense. I really used the VM to do some evaluation
 work
anyway, have decided to go with OTRS and need to implement a more
production-like server anyway. This cannot be that hard and the
 FQDN is
defined in the place where all indications point; Config.pm.

I do intend to restore this setup just to see if the OS had any impact
on the FQDN issue (I doubt it).

 Thank you all!

What is the actual FQDN of the system itself? It could be that somewhere
OTRS is picking up the actual sytem's FQDN. I'm not a Fedora user
myself, I use Gentoo, so not sure how you get/configure the FQDN on
Fedora.

Under Fedora to set the FQDN of the system you need to edit
/etc/sysconfig/network

e.g.
 cat /etc/sysconfig/network
 NETWORKING=yes
 HOSTNAME=myhost.example.com

2007-07-17 Thread Sanson, Rick
Hi Dan!

Yes, the FQDN has been configured in Config.pm, Default.pm and ZZAuto.pm

From Sysconfig the FQDN is not being saved and continues to say fc4
AND the default is listed as my FQDN...

Thanks!

Sorry I haven't followed this whole discussion but did you check the
Defaults.pm file? It is located in Kernel/Config/Defaults.pm

I'm pretty sure you have tried configuring it in Config.pm and in the
Sysconfig menu. If not message me back.

What is the actual FQDN of the system itself? It could be that somewhere
OTRS is picking up the actual sytem's FQDN. I'm not a Fedora user
myself, I use Gentoo, so not sure how you get/configure the FQDN on
Fedora.

Pass, not too sure, have you thought about upgrading to a newer version
of fedora? just incase there is some bug/issue with that particular
version of fedora, not sure how many (if any) others are using FC4 for
their OTRS installations.

Is it not possible to change the OTRS system FQDN from

[otrs] FQDN behinded a NATed router?

2006-05-05 Thread Steve Hill
We have our OTRS server on our internal LAN, which is behind a router
running NAT. The actual mail server is outside the LAN, and we POP and
SMTP mail from there. The actual FQDN is company.com, and the OTRS
server is called chuckles, but the DNS is NOT exported beyond the router.

I have tried chuckles.company.com, but of course there is no
chuckles.company.com on the internet, nor does [EMAIL PROTECTED]
actually return mail to the correct user.

I have tried chuckles.localdomain, but then I (and other AGENTS) get new
ticket notification mail with the return address of
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

The actual POP3 email address is [EMAIL PROTECTED] (which resides on
our external mail-server) so our normal return mail (notifying the
CUSTOMER of their assigned, for instance) work properly.

Can someone take all of this, and tell me which FQDN I should put in
Config.pm.

Thanks,
  Steve

RE: [otrs] FQDN behinded a NATed router?

2006-05-05 Thread Michael Belz
1.

In order to send mail with the correct from: header, you must tell
sendmail to use [EMAIL PROTECTED] rather than [EMAIL PROTECTED].

So basically your .mc file should contain an entry like this...

MASQUERADE_AS(`example.net')dnl

You must then generate a new Sendmail.cf file, and restart sendmail.

/

Other important things to mention

2.

Unix/Linux will add whatever user to the front of that e.g.
[EMAIL PROTECTED] : )

This will properly send mail to the correct domain so your external mail
server will allow authentication.

One other thing you may need to do is this

I believe it is the defaults.pm config file and change the FQDN info
to match what you want your notification master to be. If you do not
change this your notifications will be from [EMAIL PROTECTED] the ip of
the otrs machine! Hope this helps.

You can set the FQDN in Kernel/Config.pm:

Would that help?
