Re: recording what you here in windows 7?
The only way I know how to take your screenreader out of the mix is to have a separate sound card for it. Or keep your screenreader on your computer and put your audio stuff on the other sound card. There may be other tricks out there, but this is the only one I know of. Hi, Hank and all! At long last, I found a way to do this in Windows 7. I tried this and it works. I'd be curious to know if this works out for you guys: Recording what you hear in Windows 7 At first glance, it may look like Microsoft disabled recording of internal-or what you hear-sounds in Windows 7. Well, they didn't. It's a little trickier, granted, but this is (often) a quick fix. To enable it: 1. Right click on the speaker icon in the system tray (bottom right). 2. Choose Recording Devices 3. In the empty white space, right-click and choose Show Disabled Devices. You should see Stereo Mix appear in the list. 4. Right click on Stereo Mix and choose Enable. 5. Right click on Stereo Mix again, and choose Set as Default Device. Now you can record anything you hear through your speakers. If you don't have a program that can record audio, you can get a nice one called Audacity over here. Finding an actual DVD with audiodescription
I do appologize if this is not quite appropriate for this list, but I don't know who else to ask. Several months ago I bought a Harry Potter DVD that I thought would have audiodescription. Adding music to a MySpace site
Hey, everyone, I posted this question a couple of days ago, but I thought I'd post it again, just to see if anyone has any ideas out there. If anyone knows how to use JAWS to sorta kinda simulate drag and drop, you can write me off-list at joyfulreneg...@insightbb.com Here's my question again: Okay, is there anyone out there foolhardy enough, like me, to attempt to add music to a myspace page? Only reason I have one is because I found some folks of like interest on there, and, far as I know, (and please oh please correct me if I'm wrong so I can use a better site), it's the only place where you can add music to your site. My Space requires a drag and drop sort of thing for you to move a track you want into your playlist, and I have no clue how to do that with Jaws 8.0. If anyone has any work-around ideas for me, please let me know. Thanks lots! JEB HAWKES LIVES! Peace, Kathy To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

Tim, I'm not sure I know what you're saying about the volume not being independent. I can control the volume in Winamp as always, but I'm not sure that's what you're talking about. Okay, so I have everything pretty much as I want it, got that cross-fade plug-in, what you hear sounds pretty good. Now I notice a tiny bit of . . . I guess you would call it, like that sound you get when someone just barely bumps a turntable? My guess is that something might be fightin with something else, I don't know. Any ideas? I am going to upgrade to 2 mg memory which might not fix that problem but might give me a little more power when using these audio applications. Thanks again for everyone's help! Okay, I have just one final winamp-related question that hsoulbe be easy for someone to answer, and then I'll leave you guys alone. In what menu, submenu, checkbox, wshatever, do you find the choice for music to fade from one track to another? I found tjat cjpoce bu domlomg arpimd pm ,u pc's version of sinamp but can't seem to find it on the one I loaded into the Asus. Is it in Winamp professional or something? Re: What you hear option not available on asus netbook
Hi, again! Sorry to be such a pest, but I spent yesterday afternoon trying to determine if I had this user something driver installed or not when I installed the demo version of Total Recorder. At some point in my search through the many menus, submenus, etc., I thought I'd found it and had checked it as the driver I wanted. Anyway, when I attempt to record using TR, nothing at all records! Lol! Clearly something is not right. I have TR as my record and playback device sound should come through. Or should that be set to total recorder virtual device? Somewher in the TR faq's I read that if I wanted to install this driver, I'd have to re-install TR again with that driver, but I couldn't find anywhere on the High Criteria website where you could know you were getting the driver you wanted. Okay, please educate me about this driver thing. Where do I find them and how do I know I have them installed. I know which one I'm supposed to get since I'm running XpP home edition. Oh, well, it's a chance to learn some good basic stuff here, I guess. Thanks so much for your help! What you hear option not available on asus netbook
Hi, gang! I just purchased a lovely Asus netbook computer and notice it doesn't have the What You Hear feature. There are times I would love to be able to talk while playing music during an on-the-road live365 show. Short of buying a mixer or having to play music and then go back and add voice recording, which sounds pretty tedious and un-spontaneous to me, is there any software or anything I can do to emulate that what-you-hear feature? I use Studio Recorder at this moment for my reording program. Any help would be much appreciated! Peace, Kathy To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org
Re: What you hear option not available on asus netbook
Frank, can you say more about that? How, if at all, does it compare to Total Recorder (I'm guessing it does different things than TR.) What is the cost and where can I find it? I know I can Google it, but I want a good source from which to purchase it if I decide it's the way to go. MIght just stick with Total Recorder which I do know some about, but just want to know about the different options and advantages. Vac is something I've not heard of till you mentioned it. Hi, Chris! Hmmm . . . so TR uses its own what you hear option, eh? Guess I thought athat that option came through just because of Windows XP. Well, that's very cool. It's a good inexpensive program. Okay. Well, I must be doing something wrong because when I tried to use stereo mix, seems like I couldn't get the internal mike to record but the music I was playing did come out on the recording. I wello may just be doing something wrong, as I'm just learning about how to use the Asus. And what does Mike boost do exactly, if you don't mind letting me know. I turned it off, had to turn my recording level way down low, because the recording made using the internal microphone clipped like mad! Smile. What am I missing? Re: Question about Amazon MP3 downloads
Hi, Lynn. Have you signed up for one-click shopping, or whatever that's called? It's very cool. Once you've signed up for it, you don't have to worry about adding things to y our cart when you're downloading mp3's. Amazon knows who you are and you don't go through all that check out process because Amazon has all your information stored. Audio sounds dreadful on second hard drive
Could be no one has an answer to this since I haven't heard one, but I thought I'd throw it out here again to see if any new people might have a clue. Hi, all! We installed a second hard drive (internal, I think it's made by Seagate or that's its name) so that we'd have a bunch of extra storage. When music was on our hard drive--C drive--it sounded just fine. When we moved files to this new drive, the audio stutters as if someone is bumping into your record player or CD player. Any ideas about how to fix this? It's most frustrating. Thanks in advance! Hi, Mike and Doc and everyone! No, Mike, that is a great question. Actually, yes, I did move an audio file back to my C drive and it sounds fine. Re: Looking for earbud suggestions
Hi, Lynn. I have the same problem, so I was happy to find earbuds made by Phillips. I don't remember the model number, but I think that's what come with the Braille+ made by the American Printing House for the blind. I'll try and find that info out for you, if you like, or you can probably just google earbuds made by Phillips. What I like about them is that they have little covers on the buds themselves that I think are meant to make the buds more comfortable. My ear canals are too small for most earbuds, but these fit gently and snugly into my ears. I actually try not to wear earbuds too often uness I'm traveling, because I know they really aren't so good for you hearing. But these are pretty cool, and they don't sound so bad, either. There are a lot of things about me that are, well, just plain weird. One of those weirdnesses is that I have had the extreme misfortune to have been born with ear canals that seem to want to spit out earbuds. I can't seem to keep the darned things in, and frankly, they drive me insane, but my 16-year-old nephew tells me I'm committing a terrible fashion faux pas by wearing my old clunky, but much more comfortable and in my humble opinion much better-sounding, headphones that I used with my old portable stereo. I'm hoping you guys can recommend a good brand of earbuds. I typically have been using the ones that come with whatever digital player I buy, but I'm not satisfied with them anyway, not just because they are constantly falling out of my ears, but also because they sound terrible. Re: Soundforge and reducing hiss, static, etc.
Okay, Curtis and gang! First, thanks for all your ideas, suggestions and info. I've pretty much neglected Soundforge and tend to use Studio Recorder asmuch as I can. But since there are certain things I want to do, like the reducing hiss and static thing, I think I need to start paying attention. Since I now have the cheapo version of 6.0, I'd like your various advices about what version would be best to upgrade to. I've actually not read your feelings about SF 9, Curtis, and I suppose I could go through the archives to find out, but is it worth it for me to upgrade to Version 9? Does Version 9 have Acoustic Mirror, or is that another plug-in? Lots to learn, I know that! Thanks! You might be able to buy it all for $149.95? including noise reduction, it really is worth it since, even if you don't like 9 which I don't for reasons well known on this list, the noise reduction is updated from 2.0A to 2.0G which costs by itself more than the upgrade cost, and it works with all versions of Sound Forge from v4.5 and up. Annoying static in recording
Hi, gang! I recently recorded a great conversation using an R09 and external mikes. I think the battery was low, which might be why there was this static throuout the recording. In any case, is there any software that can at least cut down on some of that static? It's not hiss. It's almost as if there was that kindof static you get when a mike jack is on the fritz, but mercifully I haven't had that problem since. Re: Zen Stone Blues
Hi, Christopher and gang! Thanks so much for all your advice. I've done some of these things, and others I will try. I've spent lots of time looking for a link to upgrade, or maybe totally re-install the Zen Stone firmware to no avail yet. So, Christopher, if you could help me find that, I'd be forever in your debt. I thinkk! Smile. So far, that's my theory as well, that I need to totally reformat this baby. I think, somewhere in this process, I may have tried to upgrade this thing from the Zen Stone Creative Media software, but I think I got this message about no upgrades being available. I think, also at some point, (remember, this has been my little ongoing project, ahem), I found out something about reformatting a device using the Windows Media Player but it made no sense, nor could I find any such thing in my Windows Media Player menus. Not that much in Windows Media Player makes sense to me anyway. Grouchy smile. So, any help I can get to find where to totally reformat this Zen Stone could be very much appreciated. Okay, I'm off to work at the Library. Y'all are the best! I would try this first and then I'd upgrade the firmware doing a complete format as part of upgrading the firmware. First, to reset the Zen Stone, you'll need to perform a pin hole reset. There's a tiny hole on top of the Zen Stone, next to the slider switch. You'll need to find that hole and use a pin to push a button reset down in that hole. It's actually not as bad as it sounds once you've done it successfully. If you're holding the Zen Stone, so that the round button is facing you and on the right hand side, where the slider and headphone jack is on the top and the USB connector is on the bottom, then the hole you're looking for will be on top, next to and just to the right, of the slider button. I can barely feel it with my fingers. You'll then need a pin to find that hole and depress the button that is found in that hole. This will reset your Zen Stone and then you should be able to connect it to your PC without the IO error. If you still get the IO error then you may need to look into your USB device driver, but I doubt that will be your problem. I think you can update the firmware and format the Zen Stone from the Creative Media Lite software, but you should also be able to download the latest firmware and install that onto your Zen Stone. I'll look into this in a bit and post more later. I hope this helps. Kathy Szinnyey wrote: Well, how long ya got? Hey, Trace and list! Well, it's up and running. It's accessible as far as I can tell, but you have to copy those dang characters every time you have a session with them. You also have to sync up your computer with your mp3 player to keep your drm/wma licenses renewed; those licenes die after 30 days. So, while you're not paying money, your paying in annoyance. Lol! This podcast does not seem to be part of the Replay-AV database and I am too new to Juice, (having just downloaded it) to know how to search its entire directory and the specifics involved in adding a podcast. Can anyone advise me of the most straightforward way to subscribe to the podcast feed with either of these programs? i will probably write to the web developers to see whether or not they can continue to add the .mp3 feeds with the newer content but was hoping to solve the problem on my own. That's pretty much what blind people have to deal with all the time. Recognizing the problem, Mitsubishi Japan created CD-Rs with Braille printed on the label side so the blind would be able to tell one disc from another. In a pack of 10, each 700-MB recordable CD has its own identity written in Braille. To create the Braille dots, Mitsubishi printed the labels with two layers high-viscosity ink, which allowed for characters to protrude up to 0.1 millimeters from the surface of the disc. In addition, the rest of the label is printed with extra-smooth ink so the dots stand out as much as possible. Great innovation, though it probably means this technology is out of the realm of home inkjets for now. You could get special ink for Braille labeling, I suppose, but it's doubtful there would be enough demand for the industry to offer it. Of course, there's no reason this technology couldn't be used for DVDs and other media, so expect more Braille discs to come down the pike soon. - Peter Pachal Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- No virus found in this incoming message.
