I select BW Negative for the input format and 8-bit or 16-bit grayscale file format (in the Output tab.) Are you sure you've tried straight TIFF output, as opposed to DNG/raw? Re: OT Thumbnails and the Mac (take2) (Gaetan Beauchamp)
Hello everyone. I did make a mistake in the previous post when I said that iPhoto made a mistake about my camera. I had forgot that I did use the K20D also. So no mistake there. No way to change the metadata about the camera who took the picture. Am I right? What could you do about those metadata and how? Is there someone on the list who knows ? But about the thumbnails and the PEF, there is always Atomicview: http://www.antzero.com/antweb/?lang=enm=0p=0 who IMHO is worth of a try. The problem here is that the K7 PEF are not yet recognized as thumbnails in OS X. Apple make some updates but not for the K-7. How long will we have to wait? Where do we write to make the complaint? I select BW Negative for the input format and 8-bit or 16-bit grayscale file format (in the Output tab.) Are you sure you've tried straight TIFF output, as opposed to DNG/raw? Which I've never tried, but I'm assuming it means there is no inversion or other processing. On the input tab, press the advanced button. Under the media button, select BW negative from the drop down list. Under the color (sic) tab, you can then choose what film you are using to obtain best results as determined by the software. Is this because many of the models are amateurs or just starting and not used to the demands of studio work? Years ago I did a number of model shoots with both professional and amateur models, and the professionals were by far the easiest to work with: they expected to work hard, have changes of costume, not afraid to show some skin, but the new starters amongst the amateurs were much more difficult. At the level I'm working at (TFP) mostly they are amateurs, or more to the point, wannabes. The older I get, the less tolerant I am becoming of having my time wasted. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_pictures/8435387.stm has a bizarre yellow square just to the left of centre frame. No idea what it is - any guesses? Road sign reflecting the camera's flash. You can sort of see the road warning triangle in red and white within the yellow rectangle. There's a black and white bit below it that probably has some words of warning or explanation. If you squint carefully you can just make out the words Flash photography is forbidden. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

There are exif editors that will let you change meta data. Hell it's just a file and data, you can do most anything within the specifications even if it's against the rules. Frank mentioned that in another post... Maybe I should take the hint and change the look of the blog... :-) It is certainly a rare occasion to be able to see and photograph a koala that is not captive in a zoo. I am jealous of the opportunity. I have to agree that the sky is not too cooperative. I am curious if you used some kind of flash on this one - seems like the face is just a bit lacking in depth, more like a flash would do that overpowers the ambient light a bit. Other than that, pretty cool shot and experience. Thanks for the comments, Bruce. Yes I did blast him with a flash, but that normally adds detail and depth when balanced properly. I also added a bit of exposure compensation to overcome the the brightness of the sky (I HAD to overpower the awful white sky or he would ave been a featureless black blob in the silhouette of a gum tree). Thanks also Dave and Frank for looking. I was hoping to see a wild koala this trip. They are apparently pretty common in this part of New South Wales. The weather just has not been cooperating - it's been raining pretty much every day which is actually good for the area so I'm not complaining :-) - and I haven't been able to get out much to shoot the local wildlife. I've seen a bunch of kangaroos, wallaroos, goannas, and lots of parrots and other birds but just have not been able to photograph them.
