Now I understand !!!
But P&S is not similar to SLR !
Olympus is very popular with its P&S, but not for SLR (unless E-10 )

2001-02-27 Thread Pentax Clover

Hello
a little sens, but the translation is a "compact " (good translation for P&S
is "viser et déclencher", because "tirez" means shoot or f*ck...hum, and
Pointez is use for a game named "pétanque"
Nevertheless :
Thank you all

Re: MZ-S, my FA* 80-200 2.8 and an Earthquake (a little long...OK longer than I thought)!

2001-03-01 Thread Pentax Clover

Hello
Glad to know that you survive the earth quake
It is a very pleasant thing to know that focusing has make a big difference
with the MZ-S. I tried a 80-200mm f/:2.8 ED on my MZ-3 and definitely do not
like its slow way of working!
About the 24-90mm f/:3.5-4.5, I am quite surprise, because I usually prefer
a great aperture than a wide range!
For tha optical quality, I prefer to wait for the test my favorite magazin
will make as soon as the lens is avaible (I am talking about the french
magazin named CHASSEUR D IMAGES, www.photim.com )
If I reside near you, I hope to buy your 24mm f/:2, but, from France, it
will be quite complex ! The tokina is not a very good lens, so I totally
inderstand why you wish to sell it for a Pentax zoom ;-)
I hope that if you buy the MZ-S, you will enjoy it very much !
For the moment, I find it too expensive for the young student who is ME !
See you

I owned a 28-135mm IS before returning inPentax Family. And this is not a
top lens!
Lots of Pro in France, using Nikon do not wish a IS.
I do believe that IS or VR is usefull but we can survive without !!!
Mostly, I find it usefull wit great aperture lens (such as f/:2.8)

Re: F, A, FA and FA* lens-except

2001-03-03 Thread Pentax Clover

Hello
85mm f/:1.4 A = 7 lens in 6 groups
85mm f/:1.4 FA = 8 lens in 7groups
The French reference test of Chasseur d Images Magazin shows that the 85mm
FA is better than a LEICA APO Summicron M 90mm f/:2 Asph or Canon 85mm L
f/:1.2 or Minolta or Nikon 85mm f/:1.4
When you use the FA at f/:1.4, it is as good as the 85mm A when you use at
f/:2.8
I am surprise that Nobody in the US seems to konw this !
See you

Re: 28-70mm f/:2.8 SIGMA EX

2001-03-04 Thread Pentax Clover

Hello
My 85mm f/:1.4 FA , 43mm f/:1.9 and 35mm f/:2 FA Pentax also do not allow
f/:19 between f/:22 and f/:16
Beware, it seems that the 20mm f/:1.8 DG is not very good (not as good as
the 20mm Pentax )
If the price is not really lower than the Pentax, you may prefer the Pentax
except needing great aperture such as f/:1.8
The 105mm is an excellent lens. I regret that its hood is a screw in hood
the 14mm do not exist by Pentax !!! there is also a Tamron 14mm f/:2.8,
nearly as good (seems that the Sigma is a little better) but the Tamron
looks prettier !
The Sigma 70-200mm f/:2.8 EX was an excellent lens for Pentax owner until
they sell it more expensive than before ! (in France)
See you

Sorry, I am not agree with this !
You know Minolta was in trouble because the test of the Maxxum/Dynax 7 is
very good. So they ask CI to choose 25 Photographs (pro or not) to try the
D7. And the conclusions is that the D7 is really wonderfull. (I know someone
who made the test ! It was ME !)
You know, Canon, Nikon, Pentx or else, they know what the tests show , so
they choose the moment for put more or less advertising!
If you really think CdI is not reliable, I cannot change your mind ! If you
wish to change your mind about CdI, you need to do it yourself ...That is
the way I act !

Re: F, A, FA and FA* lens-except

2001-03-07 Thread Pentax Clover

Reliable or not is really not the issue. What are they really testing and
why? It may seem like strange question but in any scientific test such
questions needs to be answered before you perform a test. People like CDI
perform tests for the sake of it because it sell magazines. I'm sure their
procedures are sound and can be repeated with the same result but what is
the relevance of the test for a photographer? When every Pentax owner in the
kown universe can testify that CDI's conclusion is contradictory to personal
experience and others tests are we going to stop believeing in out own
experience and start believeing in CDI?
> I repeat that anyone who design a test that only proves that shit happens
is screwing their readers to sell magazines.
>
> Pål
>
The problem you mention is that you talk about own experience.
However, I think CdI test lots of parameters. And then you choose to pick
the ones you prefer.
If you do not read all the comment and only focus on the final stars about
the lens, you make the same mistake than even French People do: They are
blinkered by the number of stars !
The 20mm f/:2.8 has only 3/5 stars. But the comment is very good about the
lens. Because lots of other 20mm are not as good as Pentax's one !
The most important for me is to buy a lens with all I need inside. CdI helps
me to know more than what an advertising says. After I use my own opinion. I
prefer my 35mm FA f/:2 than my former 50mm F f/:1.7 than my 43mm f/:1.9.
CdI gives all these lens 4/:5 stars (technical) . Why do I prefer my lens in
this order ? When you look the tests, you can guess a little ! There is a
better contrast and sharpness for the 35mm, using f/:4 or 5.6. When I use my
35mm, even in f/:2, the contrast is so good that I go on adore it !
The tests exist and they are very usefull, but you need to learnhow to use
it !
Let's stop talking about this !
I do not think we can get agree about it in the next future !

Pål Wote

> Not at all. I've seen their comments and rating on "all" paramenter which
BTW aren't many. I do not pick one parameter; like the rest of us I look at
the final image and have found out that CDI is so often way off the mark
that their tests aren't trustworthy. A good example is the FA* 85/1.4: by no
parameters is this a five star lens and it doesn't compare well to similar
A*. Its no coincidence that Pentax users are willing to pay more for a used
A* 85/1.4 than a new FA* 85/1.4. I count myself among those and I'm an auto
focus guy.

Well, it seems than I am not an usual Pentax user, then.

> I still have a question for you: why should we trust CDI and their test
when they more often than not are contradictory to Pentax users experience
and other tests?

Weird..It seems Photodo tests match with the CdI ones

 >What is it that make CDI test better than anyone else including our own
experiences?

Not the best, but a reliable one

> Also, I still like to repeate that the infamous shutter test they
performed have proven beyond doubt that their "tests" are only for selling
magazines and that trustworthyness doesn't even enter the picture.

I am still having fun to read this kind of test

> ...and BTW The FA 43/1.9 Limited is "Amateur Photographer" magazine
reference lens beating the Carl Zeiss 50/1.4. This is more in accordance
with my experience.

I think the difference between you and I, is that you trust your own
experience which is true, but mostly for you. I prefer to use my favorite
lens without comparing to other lens. Why would I like to buy a Canon or
Nikon, as far as I use Pentax ??? I cuold affort to buy a 43mm because if
was sold new half of its price with the MZ-3. If I can have for a similar
discount a 50mm f/:1.4, I would be as happy ! (may be a little more)

I tried a 80-200mm f/:2.8 ED IF FA, and it is a marvellous lens, even in its
price...
I hope a non Power zoom version will appear, at last, you can buy a Sigma
70-200mm f/:2.8 EX (EX version, not the old one)
The quality is not very far but the built is much less cheaper !

Re: SMC-A 35/2.8. Mediocre or Maligned?

2001-04-07 Thread Pentax Clover

Hello
I wsih to tell you this story.
With some friends, I tryed my 85mm f/:1.4 FA IF Pentax , face to 90mm f/:2
Asph Leica and 85mm f/:1.8 Nikon.
You can see the result on www.pictchallenge.com (in french only)
In the CdI Website, there was a quarrel about the test (the Pentax seems to
be the worst of all) and some people of CDI came and talk with us. And as
the matter that we keep on argueing, they are going to test the 85mm f::1.4
again. You need to know that this cost money and time, but as we made
contact, it is kindfull to re test a lens.
This is a clue which makes me trust the tests of CDI.
Why do they need to re test if they do not wish their tests to be reliable ?
They want to proove us that this is reliable.
Also, you need to know that they use 25 or 50ISO films, so with a 100 or
more ISO film, you may not make a difference between 3 stars or 4 stars
lens.

See you

About US Pentaxists :
I am going to be fed up with American, french or javanish pentaxists or

Indeed, CI (CdI) , jurnalists such as me, GMC or Denis always fight with
heart to defend the right to live for "secondary class" Trades, by publing
laudatory tests about Leica Lens, Pentax SLR, and in fact all systems and
best lens and items of each trade , do not we ?

I feel my soul bleeding by hearing that some people who I do not know from a
country which I do ignore, these people are talking about me and suppecting
my honesty when I always defend with armed hands the Pentax interest when
the trade is defensible. ( and of course, I criticize things that have to
be, because it is the essence of my job !)

If the fact that belonging to a minor community makes you all intolerant
such as you cannot have a negative opinion for your favorite trade even when
it is due to a real fact or after objectif arguing, if the only fact to dare
to express a review, justified by rationnal and verifiable arguments , if
this only fact leads you to see us as treacherous to Pentax, then I prefer
you to read an other magazine where at last, you will feel relax, because
thanks to commercial, everything will appear perfect and kind !

CdI is not weekly news of the sect of worshippers of Pentax nor a politic

interests !

Hello
Please remind that my test is not reliable. (I do not own 2 Millions
FrenchFrancs tools to mesure it, but each time CdI test a lens and even the
TRade disagree the result, when trade's engineers come to CdI resort, to
test by their own, you know the result it quite the same)
Even if I prefer to see as a religion (from your point of view) I prefer to
talk about good tool. It is like a scale you can use for comparing lens...
Now if the test reveals some trouble, they will try my own 85mm f/:1.4...

was so far off any five star mark that I promptly assumed that my lens was
faulty. I sent it with complaints to a poor Pentax repair man who measured
it at every means and shot test rolls and compared it with other lenses of
the same kind. Mine was found perfect and optical quality was
indistinguishable from other lenses of its kind. So much for CDI tests. I
guess I should accept that my not so sharp slides was really great and that
this must be hallucination on my part. I should blindly believe in CDI and
disregard my own eyes.
> BTW I found exactly the same light fall off at the cornesr you did. Also
the same less than sharp performance. Strange for a lens thats as good as
they come according to CDI. Why don't you stop asking people to blindly
believe. Why not look at the facts. I'm certainly convinced that you won't
find any users of the A* 85/1.4, A* 135/1.8 or A* 300/2.8 that would rate it
at "3" on a scale from 3-5. This is compared to any other lens.

Pentax users with firsthand experience from lenses, there isn't much
disagreement or controversy. People mostly agree on lenses and dincrepancies
is at best minor - theres a remarkable degree of consensus. And in spite of

Both lenses and cameras get bashed regularly when they deserve it (and

Re: Direct from Chasseur d'Images

2001-04-10 Thread Pentax Clover

I agree with this quotation, but do not forget we are talking about reliable
tests or not. My own expenrience is that Pentax 50mm f::1.7 is better than
Minolta or Canon one (I used to own all 3) But I always prefer the Pentax
one.
For the 85mm, I tested it in order to help my friends. By my own experience,
I already found it marvellous. So what do you want me to do ? I am still
stay in Pentax system because it is my favorite one. And there will be no
test, reliable enought to show why ! This is only my own story, my truth.
Nevertheless, I also consider some Pentax items as not worthy (such as the
MZ-S, the 300mm FA f/:3.5)

I just want to say that the MZ-S is not the SLR I am stilll waiting for.
I hope, even as the same cost, a body bettre than a Nikon F-100 or a EOS 3.
Why ? I will answer "Why not !" (I o not want to say "for Pentax sake")
I really prefer Pentax making better SLR that nowadays.
But, I also understand that they may not wish to make such a SLR, because it
does not fit the Pentax Traditional way of making SLR.
Well, as far as I know, the Maxxum 7 is really good SLR and I am very
waiting for a Pentax SLR better than the Minolta one.
I really understand people who are going to buy it, and I will not say that
this is a mistake as far as it is really what each one wish. But I know now
that this is not the SLR I wish to buy (except as the same price as a Nikon
N80 because in this case, this means I encurage Pentax to sells its stuff as
low price as it is possible)

Because I am waiting for a better SLR, and I do believe that this will only

Re: MZ-S is really sucks, now I know

2001-04-15 Thread Pentax Clover

Hello
I do not like in the MZ-S:
shutter only 1/180
Speed only 2.5 frames/second
only 0.5IL step of correction
Cannot konw if you are using spot or not, only by watching throught the
viewer
AF target do not light in red when the AF has stop
only can change the aperture by using the ring on the lens
The way of changing AF mode (lock Af taget or not and how to choose a AF
target)
You see, all these thing, you can find it in a Nikon F-100 or a Minolta
Maxxum/Dynax 7.
I use the expression sucks because I am really in anger against Pentax
engineers !
See you

Re: : MZ-S is really sucks, now I know

2001-04-16 Thread Pentax Clover

Dear Paal,
The MZ-S is using a brand new shutter made by SEIKO. I was not talking about
the maximum speed but the maximum speed with Synchro-X. This is totally
different (EOS1n and EOS 3 has 2 different shutter but the same maximum
speed (1/8000 but Synchro X 1/250 for EOS1 and 1/200 for EOS 3)
For the spot metering frame indicator, you may find it useless in the
viewer, not me (and I know some friend who also prefer to have it inside,
but it seems that you do not consider me as a photographer, that may be a
little true, but remember that there is not only photographer who buys
camera) It was not really difficult to put it inside, no ? When you forgot
it, you forgot it, but when you remember it, it is easier to keep the eye in
the viewer than to check outside, isn t it ?

> Of course they can. Thats the most important market for every
manufacturer. There are 10 000 000 K mount Pentax lenses out there that fit
the MZ-S. Owners of these lenses are the main target for the MZ-S.
Really ? Do all these people buy the MZ-S ??? I do not think so as far as
they usually consider Pentax as a cheap way to make good picture, but the
MZ-S is not cheap, isn t it ?

> You assume that the Z-1p and the F100 are ideal cameras for everybody.
They aren't. The Z-1p never sold well which proves that most Pentax users
were less than impressed with it. You again assume that a camera F100 like
would be perfect for everybody.
I do not like the Z-1p and you can read that I prefer a Z-1n because it
might be nearer of my expectations. The Nikon F-100 is a very good SLR and
you know that it is very well sold. The flagship of a brand has the mission
to make dream owner of the same trade. The MZ-S do not really reach this aim
for me. So why do former Pentax owner change and buy a Nikon F-100 ? (I have
2 friends who did it )

Yours

MZ-S is really good ?

2001-04-18 Thread Pentax Clover

Hello
I was thinking about the MZ-S and I realize something :
The MZ-S is perfectly good for the user who knows what he is going to get...
>From my experience, we usually do not use all function of a SLR.
I know that I feel needed sometimes with my MZ-3., so the MZ-S is a good SLR
if I wish to replace my MZ-3.
As often, there is much asked things which are not very usefull. The MZ-S is
a Pentax version of a SLR which you can easily use. (as easy as a MZ-3)
Of course, I am still wishing a better SLR, but I forget to mention that it
is a good SLR if we know all our needs so we cannot buy it wrongly.
Hoping for a new body for myself, but hoping a MZ-S for Pentax users who
need it !

2001-04-19 Thread Pentax Clover

Hello
Dear Doug,
If you can read easily french, come on www.photim.com, and ask about clover
(myself) and if he is ashame about having a Pentax.I sold my Canon (Elan II)
is it not a clue to guess how important the famous of the brand is for my
opinion ?
I hope I keep my MZ-3, and of course I hope I could buy a MZ-S for half of
his price !
I am just disappointed about its price, because for the same price, you can
find a SLR which is much more better and still believe that the MZ-S only
needs a feww change to be perfect for me.(few and not expensive)
Even, if I change, I might buy a Minolta Maxxum/Dynax 7, because it has all
the things I find missing in the MZ-S. It is not reallly much bigger
neither!
You know, I put Gaffer on my MZ-3 such as you cannot guess even it is a
Pentax nor a new SLR. So even I own a Nikon, I will not be proud to show it
because I will make it up as well
Please , do not to so vexed that you cannot see what I really ask, the few
change I ask can be release on a MZ-Sn. Then I will agree to pay this price.
I just did not express why I stay in Pentax, so that is why some of you
think I could switch for Nikon. But regard to my needs, this is easier to
buy a MZ-S (much more cheaper)

I understand, you just encourage me to self my MZ-3, my 35mm FA f/:2, my
43mm f/:1.9 and my 85mm FA IF f/:1.4 for others pdml members ???

Re: MZ-S is really good ?

2001-04-19 Thread Pentax Clover

Dear Paal,
> Why do you expect Pentax to give away the MZ-S? Do you expect Nikon to
reduce the F100 by 50%?
> What other camera offer the MZ-S features and a fully heavy duty metal
body for less cash?
If Nikon makes the F-100 50% less, I also will be agree, you know !
For a less price, in France, you can get a Nikon F-90x (N-90X in US, if I
remember rightly)

> What camera is this? The MZ-S don't lack features. It has among the most
sophisticated flash system on the planet with RTF flash synch up to 1/6000s
something no other camera do. It also has a unique dataimpriniting feature
far better than anything else since the data follow the picture.
I thought it was up to 1/180 !
For Data printing, it is a good thing, but it is not really what I use the
most. And when you use inversive mounted, you cannot read the information
(whatever the system is ion the top or between the pictures)

> Admittedly, if you nedd many fps the MZ-S isn't the best thing but then no
Pentax are. If you really need machnegunning images the only game in town is
the EOS-1v or the F5. I wonder then what you do with an MZ-3 in the first
place then...
Guess what I am doing with my MZ-3...?
I never use AF almost of the time. Because I know it cannot allow me to do
picture this way.
But if I can go up to 4 or 5 fps, I may use it in a new way but also the
way I am doing for the moment.
I used to own a Canon ELAN II (EOS 50e), it shows that sometimes, I need
such a high rate.
If I buy a better SLR, is it forbidden for me to wait for such a
possibility.
As I say, I would buy a MZ-S if its price is lower than 933US$. At last, in
France, it might be sold about 20% more than in the US. So you might
understand why I find it too expensive.
The problem is not only that there is some features find missed, but for
the price it would be sold, it is not easy to accept this fact. If I was
richer, I will buy it. But it is not my case, and not the case of most of
Pentaxists, that's why I hope this change.
Will you buy the MZ-S if it was sold less than the price of 999USS$ ? Yes,
but you won't buy it if it was sold at 1299US$. I think Pentax could make
the MZ-S a blockbuster if the price is lower or the features are enhance as
I said.
If you think its price is the good price, so I am wrong whatever I said. But
compare to other SLR (Nikon F-90x, Minolta Maxxum7, or Dynax7, for example)
I find it too expensive.
Selling a SLR is not easy, that is why I hope the MZ-S will show a lower
prie, in order to make new users attracked. If you prefer to stay few user
of Pentax (what I could really understand, because this is a way to be
different), well, I understand the MZ-S is really the perfect Pentax SLR.
For the moment, I consider the MZ-S as the best SLR Pentax has ever design.
BUT I also consider Pentax is able to make a much better flagship. If you
also think so, I will be happy to know.
See you all !
PPS: you know, ^because of writing about the MZ-S, I am thinking of buying
it, even it will not match with my expectations...This is the Pentax
power...8-)

I still believe Pentax needs to make a better SLR, nearer to a F-100, but as
you know, I am not here to make reproaches, but to enhance that each user

Also, I hope Pentax will make a good SLR as cheap as the Dynax Maxxum5 and

MZ-S and More ?

2001-06-13 Thread Pentax Clover

Hello
I ve just read reports from MZ-S
owner.
It seems that the SLR find easily owner in the
US.
Wheraas in France, everybody complain its high
price.
My personnal wish is that Pentax makes a better SLR
at the same price of the Nikon F-100.
Am I the only one in this case or most of the list
will buy the MZ-S ?

Re: MZ-S and More ?

2001-06-14 Thread Pentax Clover

the BG-10 grip attached.
> Is it true it provides a vertical shutter release?

Yes and it can be use as a separate remote !

For everybody who is saying why a better SLR (as a Nikon F-100)

Well, first, I am still find Pentax prices very high. I like Pentax stuff
more than Sigma, as a exemple.
But for now, I am using a MZ-3. I need a second SLR and wish to find
something really much better than my Lovely MZ-3.
All inside of a MZ-S is very good, but the difference between my MZ-3 is not
very evidant !
But the price is more than twice.
For such a high price, I am asking for a really good SLR.
More Tropicalized (do not know is this is the right way to express it)
Higher frame speed (I used to own a Canon Elann II / EOS 50e, which also has
2.5 fps and I found it not enought for my use)
And much more information in the viewer (the MZ-S has less information than
the PZ-1p / Z-1p)

I understand this can be taken as children wishes, but I also know that this
is what I need if I wish to buy an other SLR .
Please, do not tell me to buy a Nikon F-100, I cannot use my favorite lens
with !

But now, I am really happy to read in the list that there are people who
enjoy to use a MZ-S !
I do not make reproaches for their way to buy Pentax stuff ! The better way
is to know exactly what we need !
And I need a better Pentax SLR, that's all !
I also trust Pentax is capable to make it comes true !

Of course, a different SLR, but I can fit a SLR based on a MZ-S with few
modifications:
4fps
1/8000 synchro 1/250
Spot metering shown inside
Easy use with only the right hand (AF change selector all near the same
place, sucha a Maxxum 7, Nikon F-5, F-100 or F-80, easy to change with only
changing the back)
And collimators AF a little Differents (only 5 in cross and can be light in
red when it is the one we use)
More celled against the rain.

Is it a very different SLR ???
Even it cost 1200$, I will agree to buy it

Dear Arnold, please can you go to Boz K mount page and have a look to the
picture he use for the 85mm f/:1.4 FA
You can see that it is mine !
This lens has a special story and it is for me a very important lens in my
path of photograph
Even on my webpage, you can find its frontal lens !
http://clover.is.free.fr
I am not wishing a F-100 like SLR, but same specs at least for the same
price
AF communtators ar very easy to use on F-100, you can understand easily why
it is the same way on 3 different SLR F-80, F-100 and F-5
For my narrow mind, I need something simple as "all selector about AF has to
be very close, and I do not find easy on the MZ-S"
I do not wish Pentax to copy others brand, I wish them to more better !

Please, understand me that I prefer to buy a much better SLR for all my
lens, and I do not find enought features in the MZ-S for its price !
At least, I am looking for where I can get one for less than 750$ in France
!
If it happens, I will belong to the owner of MZ-S list

Just for the Fun, If Pentax offer the Grip for the same price, how will you
react ???

May be I cannot stop using my MZ-3 so I try to find argument for keeping it

Funny, I just idslike Dimage 5 or 7 .
Now please remember that I am not disappointed with my MZ-3 as far as I know
its limits !
I like to use it, but it get often that I need some supllied features in
order to make the picture I wish, so then, I refren form trying !
In all I read about the MZ-S, and even When I try it (at last a sample) I am
not satisfy .
So the MZ-S appear to me as a super MZ-3, not a quite better which help me
to make my MZ-3 becoming my second SLR
I would buy a MZ-S if I do not own the MZ-3, but for the moment, I own it
and do not want to be separate from it !

Yes, but it is funny ! I usually try to make others photo fans understand
that we can make pictures even with P&S !
And I also need to defend Pentax because in France they often say that
Pentax will stop SLR soon...

So here in the list, for the first time, I can discuss about some Pentax
missing for my opinion !

So it is funny, and I find this funny

It is not because you have it on the SLR that mean you need to use it all
time long !
But, it makes crazy when you need it even once a year because for this day,
I find it is stupid to buy or rent an other SLR just for the need of a day.
Personnaly, I do not use it not because it is not avaible on my MZ-3, but if
it was, I will use it with pleasure

Of course it is ridiculous, but for a beginner, it is very important because
he wants to own a SLR that can give lots of features for the same price.
And for the moment, in France, Pentax need a blockbuster, so Pentax can be
more well known

The MZ-S is competitively priced for what it offers.

But maybe this is not the most needed features for commons users. That is
why it is perceived as expensive

From: "Pål Jensen"
> I don'æt agree. I'll rather be without features I use once a year.
Features cost money or have other drawbacks like higher power consumption. I
like features that are being used regularly and are useful and don't want to
pay for seldomly used features. Nor do I want to carry dead weight; that is
features that increases thei weight but seldomly or never used.

Sure, but that is your knowledge about photo, but it is the average ?

> You seem to forget that small size are features as well as any and that
many of us have no interest in a feature count competition. The features you
mention don't do anything for me getting better images. You also seem to
forget that the extra 1,5 fps rate At a speed at 1/1000s you'll gain only
1,5/1000 of the action compared to the MZ-S. You'll still miss 996/1000 of
the action with 4fps compared to the MZ-S 997,5/1000 - hardly a big
difference.

Of course small side is important, that is why I own a MZ-3

I need to say this !
By talking about MZ-S with all the list, I get agree it is a very good SLR
But, it is also a SLR with missing features for me and have extra features I
do not need

Second, sometimes, I do express what average people wish because the most of
the sold SLR are not due to Pro but users who gets a SLR for his pleasure,
his proud ! Not his use in photography

My point of vue is that the MZ-S is a very good SLR, but compare to my MZ-3,
it is very expensive (I paid my MZ-3 its half price)
So there is some difficulties I need to fight in order to realize how much
the MZ-S is a SLR I need.
At last, I go on hoping Pentax makes a F-100 like (remember a PZ-1p is quite
as big)
Also Hope my Bank will not call me because of buying the MZ-S

Re: Pentax - better or not?

2001-06-16 Thread Pentax Clover

Hello
here is the answer a friend of mine wish to tell you about minolta :

In english with babel :
MINOLTA does not use, as claims it your interlocutor of " data base " for
the determination of the expo. That Ci is done, since the 7 xi, by the
system fuzzy logic, " fuzzy logic " in French. Each parameter of the catch
of sight is analyzed by the apparatus which afterwards of scientists
calculations deduces the type from it of scene to which it deals. Coarse
example: short focal distance, developed on the infinite one, foreground
present = landscape. It is very succint like example because there are
actually several hundreds of analyzed data, but to in no case a comparison
with a stock of scenes in memory in the apparatus.

I really hope for a 17-35mm f/:2.8, not because of

Action picture for news papers (reporting) need to
change easily the range and have great aperture. REmember, Minolta has a 17-35mm
f/:3.5 and no Digital SLR.
Some friend s of mine tell that using these 3 lens
:
17-35mm f/:2.8, 28-70mm f::2.8 and 80-200mm f/:2.8,
will be the most use for professionnal use. Even a 400mm f/:2.8 in FA
version
And when Pentax will make converteers with AF
connection ?
By the way, do you know that the USM using by Xanon
is licenced by Nikon ??? Funny isn t it ?See you

Re: MZS remote

2001-07-28 Thread Pentax Clover

Maybe this is the same remote than the MZ-7/ XZ-7,
you can order it more easily (IR remote I am talking about)

Does anyone know where I can order

the remote shutter release for the
  MZ-S?
I did notice that the remote for the
  Pentax
90WR "point and shoot" works on the
  MZ-S,
but my wife uses that camera and said
  I
couldn't have the remote. After buying
  the
MZ-S I'm not in a position to be asking
  any
favors from her for a few
  months anyway.

P.S. The MZ-S is one fine camera and
  worth
a few months of "cold beans and hot
  tongue"
  from my wife.

  Thanks,

Re: The MZ-S; a batteryholic?

2001-08-09 Thread Pentax Clover

I also notice that the lack of vibration is better than a MZ-3, but, I also
use a Nikon F-100, and find it terribily calm...and much less
louder...becuse it is big and has coreless motors

telephotos, and the much better viewfinder made me sell of my Z-1p. I can't
focus the 600/4 + the 2X-L converter with the Z-1p. With the MZ-S its no
problem in daylight and this made me decide to keep my 2X-L converter. I
shot some more black guillemots today with this combo and I had no problem.
Unfortunately, I punctured my Zodiac :-(

MZ-S n or p ???

2001-08-09 Thread Pentax Clover

Hello
I only wish to shout once more that I really wish
Pentax to make a Much better SLR than the MZ-S...

Please give me a chance to see a MZ-Sn with some
change as the PZ-1/Z-1 and the PZ-1p/Z-1p, or the MZ-5 and the
MZ-5n...

See youThanks for private Mail, to write me to
this Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

PS: I know, I am repeating myself...but this is
really I think Pentax needs to do in order to go on making us dream and hopefull
with the K bayonet

Re: MZ-S n or p ???

2001-08-09 Thread Pentax Clover

I have rent a MZ-S for a Week end, this is a
handsome SLR, but there are some details that can be change to make it better,
silencer, more information in the viewer (spot, program, manual
 mode etc...)

I really find the MZ-S like a MZ-3 in limited
version...Enought for average use, can be better SLR, few things to change (like
changes between a 100mm f/:2.8 SMC F Macro and the FA version !)
