[SlimDevices: Plugins] iPlayer: Can't resolve IP address

2011-01-02 Thread ModelCitizen

I suspect that this might be a SqueezeNetwork problem but am not
certain. I don't *choose* to use SqueezeNetwork and run a local
SqueezeServer.

I can't call up any channels via iPlayer and iPlayer Extras plugins.
None connect. Boom screen states Can't resolve IP address as does
Server logs.
From Boom and Radio interfaces I can't call up My Apps either. Just
times out. Logs indicate that the IP address for post.audioscobbler.com
is not resolved either.

On my Radio the BBC Radio applet works fine.

Both devices will happily switch from my local server to
SqueezeNetwork.

Any help or pointers very appreciated.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SqueezeControl for Android announcement and support thread

2011-01-02 Thread dazbarber

What a fantastic app.

I've only had my Samsung Galaxy Apollo since Christmas and, having
found the app yesterday, it's already my favourite!

Two tiny problems:
1 - Album art doesn't work (my album art is stored as 'folder.jpg'
files in each album's folder)
2 - Downloading music files to my phone results in mp3 files of 0kb

However, for controlling my music, the app is perfect! Thank you.

Don't know how or what can have been the cause, but a full reboot solved
the issue.. Of course I have terminated all slim-processes and even all

upgrading Squeezecenter..

That looks to be a local problem to you/your squeezebox server rather
than with Squeezenetwork. Suggest restarting the server and possibly
your router/isp connection (can you resolve addresses from other
machines?)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] IR Blaster problem following upgrade to 7.5.1

2011-01-02 Thread mbg

I've been having problems with this, too, although I didn't notice it
until recently.

Previously, I had a Boom, and two Classics 3s and had been upgrading
each version of SBS as they were released, eventually arriving at
7.5.2.

Yesterday, I added a Touch to my network (temporarily replacing one of
my Classic 3s).

I reinstalled SBS from scratch (7.5.2), as well as the plugins I use,
including IR-Blaster 5.6.1.

I know IR Blaster will not work with Touch, but now it won't work with
my Classic 3 that I used to use it with, too. When I choose IR-Blaster
from the Player settings menu for my Classic 3, it jumps back to the
previous settings page. When I choose IR-Learning wizard, it shows
This player does not support IR-Blaster functionality.

I know IR-Blaster doesn't work with Touch. I am trying to use it with
my Classic 3, which I have used the plugin successfully with before.

If this is a version-related problem, my previous install must have
survived the upgrades. It's only showing up now that I've done a clean
install of SBS 7.5.2 (and 7.5.1).

As a previous poster mentioned, maybe I'll try 7.5.0.

exactly, at least for temperature. For my city wunderground gives a
temperature related to the airport, that actualy is far from the city.
When I changed from the airport to the pws I have near home the
diplayed temperature changed drastically. This demonstates that temp
and temp_pws are taken from different stations.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Lots of errors with new version of SugarCube Spicefly

2011-01-02 Thread Blu3IcE

Since I wasn't able to open the settings menu from my very old 1.8x
Version of Sugarcube I decided to go to the newest version from the
repo.

It returns songs but the result is terrible (i.e. to a song of Kelis it
returns a track from an audiobook).
My logfile is full of errors.

The only thing special about my installation is that I'm using a
MySql 5.0 server instead of the build in SQL server.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2011-01-02 Thread Triode

I've just posted release 1.1.1 of the Spotify plugin to the repository.
This release is focussed on improved playback stablity and wider server
support. I encourage everyone to update and provide feedback as I will
be focussing support on this version.

Major new features:
- reduce loading time for next track when playing a playlist (only of
benefit if you leave the playlist to play, can reduce time connecting
to next track)
- attempt to reduce repeated rebuffering events from slow spotify
servers
- pcm based streaming in addition to flac streaming for servers without
flac library (for linux mainly)
- ability to disable flac encode via settings, file types if you prefer
not to use flac decode on your players
- native linux64 bit support
- linux glibc 2.3.x support (e.g. CentOS4)
- automatic selection of alternative helper binaries (apple, linux) -
to detect appropriate architecture/lack of flac library

Please post positive feedback here on a per os basis so I can confirm
all options are working (there are now 1 x windows, 2 x mac and 4 x
linux binaries across all the platforms - so it would be good to
confirm they all work!)

If you have previously had a version of 1.1.1 installed from my test
repository, this is an updated version from the test release. Please
uninstall the test version and remove the test repository from your
serve configuration. Then install the new 1.1.1 version.

Rebuffering

Several people have reported this over the last weekend holiday period.
This appears to be congestion at the spotify server end. You may not
experience the same thing on the Spotify PC based client as it uses
peer-peer connections for streaming rather than direct streaming from a
Spotify server. This latest version of the plugin tries to reduce the
number of times this occurs. It requires the latest version of
squeezebox server to help it do this.

Stephan: I tested the new applet on radio, you can install and remove

Please go to the settings of the Applet and enter a location.
I just realized there is another bug: you need to enter the 'PWS' menu
at least once, and save the changes (even if you leave it empty).
Then the screensaver should work.
Will send out an update tonight, that makes this workaround obsolete.

 Is there any other variable?

I just added 'temp_pws' and 'humidity_pws'.
I'll update the wiki tonight.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Xmradio Online Plugin on OSX snowleopard

2011-01-02 Thread wfg97079

Hi,
I'm new to squeezebox, just installed the squeezebox server v7.5.2 and
I enabled 3rd party plugins and installed the xm online plugin. I went
into the settings of the xm plugin, and put in my login info. I
restarted the server and I can see the xmradio entry, when I clicked
on it, I can see the stations, but when I try to play one, nothing
happens. Next I uninstalled the squeezebox server by stopping the
server deleting all the entries listed on one of the FAQs and started
over. I installed the server again, enabled the plugin, but when I went
to the settings for the plugin it still had my info. Did I not delete
everything? Anyway, this time I can see the xmradio link on the
server, but when I click on it, nothing happens. I have tried
reinstalling a couple of times with the same effect. Any advice?

1. Is there an up-to-date manual?

2. How can I localize the weather information (sdttext, sdtweathericon

The displayed info is for sure not correct for my location!?

3. I'd like to show an RSS ticker...unfortunately something is blocking
the RSS access!? Do you have any hint how to get debugging information
about what is going wrong accessing RSS feeds!?

Thx

Hmm. Since you've made this new version, my Server Settings page no

The plugin downloads from somewhere other than googlecode -
unfortunately googlecode is only for opensource code which is not the
case for the helper app which is part of this plugin.

You should not need to have any additional repositories defined it
should be in the main recommened 3rd party repo. Is there anything in
the server log suggesting it could not download the plugin?

I've not seen that before. But suggest - you stop squeezebox server.
Manually delete the file (it is likely to be hidden). Then restart the
server. If this fails do restart the machine first then do this.

Strange one.

I couldn't delete that file so eventually, I renamed
C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\InstalledPlugins\Plugins\Spotify\ to
C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\InstalledPlugins\Plugins\Spotifyaaa\

After restarting the server, it put the
C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\InstalledPlugins\Plugins\Spotify\
folder back.

Spotify (v1.1.1) is now listed again in my Active Plugins, it's stopped
asking me to reboot the Squeezebox and it's all working again! :)

I suspect that there was still a version of the helper app running or
windows thought it was and hence would not allow these files to be
deleted. The reason plugin installation done after restarting the
server is to try to avoid this type of problem by ensuring the old
version of the plugin is not loaded.

Anyway - glad its installed ok now...

Latest news: I just installed a fresh 0.7.2, installed SlimNAS 2.0.1 on top of

The following modules failed to load: DBI DBD::mysql EV
 XML::Parser::Expat HTML::Parser JSON::XS Digest::SHA1 YAML::Syck GD

Which SBS package did you install (full file name)?

I have just installed the latest version of the iPlayer plug in and
found the new Radio3 HD station. On selecting the station, all I get

However I do live in Italy, so I assume the stream is being blocked

Yes it will be blocked outside the uk - I'm afraid you will only get
the 48k international version of the standard radio 3 stream.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Playlist Manager help needed

2011-01-02 Thread ffgap

Hi there,

I can't get the Playlist Manager plugin to work and I ain't got no clue
why...

I'm using SBS 7.5.2 on WinVista and have installed some of Erlands
plugins (MultiLibrary, SQLPlaylist, CustomBrowse). I have tweaked my
menues on my SB3, Boom and SoftSqueeze with those plugins.

After getting that up and running I have installed Playlist Manager.
But neither in Now Playing nor in any other menu do I get any entries
of the plugin.

I have set the protocol for the plugin to debugging and found this on
the server.log:

I can't make any sense of the last entry but it does look unusual to
me.
Anybody got a clue what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in advance,
FF Gap

Try to enable debug logging on the Radio/Touch/Controller in

log entries in the /var/log/messages file on the
Radio/Touch/Controller, you can look at it by logging in to the

I'm guessing you have tried that you can access the RSS feed from a

2011-01-02 Thread dborod

I've noticed another oddity with my setup (SBS 7.6 on OS X 10.6.5,
iPhone 3GS 4.2.1).

When I launch the app on my phone the CPU usage on the perl process on
the Mac spikes to near 100% for quite some time, and on the phone, the
contents of the current playlist take a very long time (about a minute
for a playlist of 200 items) to show up, in batches of 25 at a time.

I don't seem to recall in the past it taking quite so long for ipeng to
acquire the current playlist from the SBS, nor it trashing the SBS so
much (to the point where playback is stuttered and interrupted.

indicating that my home-brew hardware is atypical), or that a fix could
 eventually be provided.

From my own selfish perspective, I do not need any further help, but

 SvrPowerControl.
OK, I finally got around to trying this. I can't even get the latest

about 'defined(@array)' being deprecated..but that's minor.

Bottom line: I can't test SrvrPowerCtrl on Fedora 14 with the latest
released SBS if I can't get SBS itself to run.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Custom Clock applet for Touch/Radio/Controller

2011-01-02 Thread michi1911

Hi,

thx for your reply

to 1.: Okay

to 2.: I was not aware, that your plugin is linked to SuperDateTime ...
okay now!

to 3.: I'll try that...in general it seems, that my
squeezeboxserver/touch/custom_clock has problems in accessing
http-urls...the moon-clock does not work either (means: no moon-pic is
displayed)!?

I have a squeezebox-classic in another room which works fine with
RSS-feeds and the SDT has access to the weather servers on the
touch...

Have to debug this in depth...

...have fun...

Michi

Which build of 7.6 is this?
Is iPeng also syncing the cache?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Photo Gallery Plugin v1.0

2011-01-02 Thread OhPinchy

Thanks mherger for developing this great plugin - it's a fantastic
feature that really should be a part of the core SqueezeCenter in
future releases.

I'm running SqueezeCenter 7.5.1 on my Windows Home Server and have
setup the gallery plugin for use on my Duet Controller. It works but
won't browse randomly even when I adjust the ImageViewer setting to
random. I'd like all pics to be displayed upright/portrait as I have
the Duet sitting in the charger base and at the moment some pictures
are rotated, I'm happy to have the photos be smaller or cropped in
order to keep them vertical, is there a way of achieving that?

I'm also having problems with some photos not displaying (I get the
check connection message) but haven't figured out yet which ones this
happens to as sometimes when I retry it works. Is there a relatively
stable release of 7.6 out there? If so, I'd be happy to give that a go
to see if it helps as I can live with a few bugs if need be.

Thanks again.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2011-01-02 Thread pippin

OK, I've been through a big number of tests now.
Admittedly, this is not exactly the same code base from the current
release versions but right now I simply can't reproduce conditions
under which iPeng stays active.

I _did_ however see the power drain phenomenon, too, albeit not always
fully reproducible.

I'm still not 100% convinced that this is _not_ related to iPhone/iPad
for some reason keeping the WiFi enabled (and communicating)
This can explain even the stays warm phenomenon and it would also
explain that iPeng is immediately available whenever you disable the
screen saver. The server connection can take well under a second, it's
the WiFi startup that will usually cause delays.

Will keep investigating.

2011-01-02 Thread michi1911

Hi,

finally I fixed the problem by a factory reset of the Touch.

Can not explain why...but know it works exactly as I want:

RSS-Ticker, short weather Info, Time and Date...

Very nice...thanks a lot for the great plugin!

...have fun...

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] how do I install .pmplugins?

2011-01-02 Thread aubuti

It's hard to know what you're talking about, or give any advice, when
your messages don't contain much information and the link you refer to
isn't valid.

.pm files are Perl modules. All of SBS is built on Perl modules, as are
plugins. Plugins are generally installed on the computer that is running
SBS, not on the Squeezebox itself.

Please give a little more info, and a valid link, and maybe someone
could help.

Not sure what you mean by iPeng also syncing the cache.
