I use exclusively MySqueezebox.com as server, and since a few days I
have not had any artwork from RP's 192 kbps stream either.

What changed? Do I have to do something?

Yeah... I spoke too soon, obviously. I just today got a new Android 5
phone, and of course this new Web-whatever thing in Android now broke
the official app, and as someone pointed out in Logitech's official
forum, we're unlikely to see any new versions of that app. A pity, but I
guess I'll have to go for a 3rd party app (as soon as I can find out how
to buy one without having Google store my CC-details).

Thanks

Got it! Thanks.

The official Logitech Squeezebox app does support MySB.com, so I guess

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2011-04-16 Thread OppfinnarJocke

I just installed SBS 7.5.4 on my XP system. Then I tried to update to
version 1.3.4 of Tridoes Spotify Premium plugin, it has always worked
quite well for me... but now it doesn't even install!

It (the 1.3.4) shows on the plugin tab as a 3rd party plugin, but
enabling it and clicking Apply achieves nothing. No plugin is
installed, and when SBS is restarted the 1.3.4 version again shows up
on the plugin tab. I've tried this (click checkbox, Apply, restart SBS)
five times now, to no avail...

And the worst thing is that the previous version of the Spotify plugin
has disappeared.

Anyone else having this problem?
Any hints about what to do?

Log on with the Spotify client and check the settings there so you

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2010-09-25 Thread OppfinnarJocke

I successfully installed Triodes great plugin on an XP machine. Now I
try to do the same thing on my W7x64 laptop, but the installation
doesn't seem to work. I have got so far that on the "Plugins" tab (in
SBS settings) I see the plugin at the top, under "Updated plugins
available". But clicking the check-box and clicking Apply, achieves
nothing. I get the question if I want to restart SBS, and I do, but it
doesn't seem able to restart itself. So I restart manually, but I only
get back to the same state.

I tried running SBS as an administrator (right-clicked the desktop icon
and chose "Run as Administrator") but still no difference. I've stopped
and restarted SBS several times. I've exited and run as administrator
several times, but all to no avail.

I'm quite sure this is a permission problem, but I'm out of ideas now.
Any hints anyone?

This is on SBS v7.5.1 - r30836, W7x64pro

Great idea, this app, truly great. Thanks to third-party developers,
like Triode (who did the Spotify client) and you Dag, the SB is moving
on...

However, I have one issue with the app on my HTC Desire, as of
yesterday running Froyo, I get no track info, no artwork, no artist
name, no song name... I get all of that both in the Duet Controller and
in SBS (7.5.1) itself. Other than that, the SqueezeController seems
fully functional, I can adjust volume, skip track etc.

Is there something I have to enable somewhere to get song info shown?

One small nitpick... when I through the plugin ("Spotbox" is its name?
someone suggested it, sounds cool) search spotify for something that is
not there, an artist, say, like "balck sabaht", then the plugin behaves

You need to go SBS' plugin page (Settings > Plugins) and there you
should see the new version, whenever available, at the top. You click
the check mark to the left of it, and then click Apply. That's all the
manual action you need to take. SBS should now install the new version
and restart, and you're ready to go.

This assumes you have set up
"http://triodeplugins.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/testrepo.xml"; as an
Additional Repository at the bottom of the plugin page, but you already
have done that...

Been running this plugin extensively now, both playlists, long and
short, and albums, with or without shuffling, and it all seems to work
fine. Two nitpicks though:

JoeInnes;560133 Wrote:
>
> 2. When I play a playlist, I get "$TITLE by $ARTIST", but when I select
> any individual song I just get "$TITLE".
>

I see this same behavior, my Duet controller showing the $TITLE by
$ARTIST for playlists, but not albums. Underneath that text is again
the artist, and then the album. I would definitely prefer not to have
the "by $ARTIST", it takes up much space on the small Duet controller
screen. Same format for playlists as for albums would be the best.

Second thing... the "What's New" link no longer shows what's new. It
only shows the radio icon with an url.

I concur with rest of the happy people, great plugin, it has made me
use SBS again. Thanks a lot, Triode.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2010-06-22 Thread OppfinnarJocke

@Triode
Running the latest build with my long (> 230) playlists in shuffle mode
and everything seems to work sweet. Great. Thanks.
The only issue is that track info, in the right win pane in SBS, only
shows for the currently playing track (together with its url), but
that's a nitpick. Tracks play fine, time is counted, progress bar
advances, all systems are go.

@Bill50x
Spotify most certainly does some type of replay gaining or compression,
that's why it sounds differently from your CDs. Beware also the
Fletcher-Munson curve, louder sounds better, that's a fact...
Nej, jag hänger inte på nåra av dom forumen, men på Reaper-forumet

Just to soothe you somewhat... these problems are known to Triode (see
earlier posts), he's working on them... Once he gets this sorted out
this will be *the* killer plugin, for sure.

The player.source is set to log on Error, is that enough?

I looked at the server log. Around 20:54 to 21:something, when the same
track played over and over again, I could only find this:

Code:

  [10-06-20 20:52:27.3876] Slim::Formats::Playlists::M3U::write (220) Error:

  [10-06-20 21:23:59.6095] Plugins::Spotify::ProtocolHandler::__ANON__ (74)
error fetching track data: Connect timed out: Bad file descriptor

There were a whole bunch of both the "couldn't retrieve" at 20:52:27,
and a whole bunch of "error fetching" at 21:23:59. I restarted at 21:20
something, as you can see. Now I am playing a record, and the tracks
plays fine one after the other. Will try a playlist...

Yes, the whole list is there, both in the controller and in the right
pane of the web interface, but only the selected one plays over and
over again. And I tried it several times earlier today, see log above.
And it goes on, but... now I see only the artwork in the right pane,
and only for the first track, the one that's playing, do I have any
info, see pic. Log is in next post.

Playback eventually stopped on me (no log, sorry) so I had to restart
SBS. So it plays again, but now I have the
stops-after-first-track-of-album problem. Pressing fwd, advances to the
next track, but SBS plays it "silently" (time is counted, progress bar
advances, no audio).

Anyone else seeing this?

Server log works fine, its link opens at
http://127.0.0.1:9000/server.log?lines=100. This is at C:\Users\All
Users\Application Data\Squeezebox\Logs\server.log, and of course, in
that dir there is no spotifyd.log.

I have no idea about the extra level in the path, but Erland show the

something about "default skin"...

This seems to be going from good to great, Triode.
I installed the new version with no problem, and so far it's been
playing fine with no issues, I stress test it with fwd and bwd,
changing artists, searching etc, and it takes all I give it. Great.

However, I still have the empty spotifyd.log problem (if it is such).
Clicking teh "Log" link opens an empty page at
http://127.0.0.1:9000/spotifyd.log, and searching for "spotifyd.*" in
explorer reveals no log file, only the pm, exe and exe.conf files...

thanks

Are you saying that most (all?) of our problems are related to spotify
being busy? I can buy that... will try again tomorrow morning...

Open win explorer and search on your system disk (C: probably) for
"spotifyd.exe". When you've found it, right click and open cmd win
there. Then type "spotifyd.exe" followed by return.

If you don't have "Open Command prompt here" (or similar) in your right
click menu, look here:

So it played ok for a long time, playlists and fwd and bwd etc, but
suddenly it played just the first track and then stopped. Maybe,
*maybe* had something to do with the fact that I minimized the cmd win.

Playing this way now, with spotifyd.exe started in a cmd window, and I
can tell you it seems to work *much better* than earlier. I get the
playlists shown correctly as well, all of them. I have tried to abuse

I got all those time outs, so I thought I'd restart SBS.

I got the error:
"Stopping SBS failed. See Event Viewer and please contact support"
I guess, in this case you are "support", Triode :-)

The Event viewer gives nothing. There are two entries from "now", both
concern MySQL, one says "Normal shutdown" the other says "Shutdown
completed".

Thing is... spotifyd.log is nowhere on my C:\, I have searched. I have
set helper App Logging to Debug, and I have clicked "Apply" several

played, and then everything paused. I pressed and held the pause button
the controller, and then pressed FWD. The correct song info shows, but I
get the "silent" behavior, SBS counts the seconds, the controller says
"connecting".

Yes, I can confirm that I get the full album listed in the playlist of
the controller. And it seems to play through the full album once it's
started ok; "seems to" since I haven't gotten through a full album
yet.

When I tried it earlier, the FWD button did move to the next track in
the sense that the song info changed and SBS started counting the
seconds and advancing the progress bar, but there was no audio.

And, as someone else mentioned, once a track fails playing, there seems
to be no way to get it to play again. SBS counts the seconds and
advances the progress bar, but no audio.

Thanks for all you help

I don't think including it in an installer is necessary. Just make it
clear that is crucial to have it. People will have to manage that by
themselves, it's no big deal, now that we know.

However, it still does not work correctly for me. I get the empty
playlist problem. It seems it could have something to do with playing
individual songs. When I click to play All Songs of an album, it plays
the first song, and then behaves as if it played the next (the progress
meter in SBS moves and the seconds are counted) but there's no audio...

And stranger thing... trying to play All Songs of an album from which
the first song has already played, then doesn't even play the first
song, just shows the artwork and counts the seconds. My Duet controller
shows the artwork and says "Connecting".

I'm quite sure you didn't expect all of this hassle when you were kind
enough to share. I'm sorry.

I get "The system cannot execute the specified program". Looking into

to DCOM, same as here

"unnecessary" services disabled. Seems I need to start some of them for
this to work. I started WMI and System Event Notification services but
it didn't do the trick. Probably need to start more services, any ideas
about which?

I will experiment more this evening (UTC+1), gotta rush...

Thanks for the help.

EDIT: I see now also a system event: "Resolve Partial Assembly failed
for Microsoft.VC90.CRT. Reference error message: The referenced

This is with line 37 of Spotifyd.pm commented out. I can get to the
settings and can enter my Spotify premium account info, but when trying
to access anything, I get "There was an error loading the remote feed
for : (Connect timed out: Bad file descriptor)" which is probably as
expected... These errors are also logged, of course.

With line 37 of Spotifyd.pm I do get an error message in the log, the
"can't call method 'alive'" error mentioned earlier. And I cannot get
to the settings, as before.

Yes, commenting out line 37 makes the settings link work, and makes the
spotify plugin show up under Settings > Advanced, so the problem would
seem to be something going wrong around there (on line 35?). Strange
thing is that it happens every time.

Thanks for all your help.
Looking forward to the next version :)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2010-06-18 Thread OppfinnarJocke

I uninstalled SBS (without removing all user prefs) and re-installed it.
Then I installed the spotify plugin again, but I get the same error.
And all other settings work as expected. And the extra
/plugin/Extensions is there...

Under Internet Radio on the SBS Home page, I see the Spotify icon, but
clicking any of the links under it gives me "There was an error loading
the remote feed for : (Connect timed out: Bad file descriptor)".

Sorry to be a PITA, but... should there be a "Spotify" entry there? Not
so here.

Thanks for replying. Answers in reverse order...

spotifyd.exe is in C:\Users\All Users\Application
Data\Squeezebox\Cache\InstalledPlugins\Plugins\Spotify\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread

Non-standard install in that it uses "C:\Users" as the base for user
account info instead of "C:\Documents and Settings".

No I did not try the url you posted above. All of the "Settings" url's
look similar (as mentioned above), I wouldn't really know how to test
the one you give instead of the one that was installed with the plugin.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2010-06-18 Thread OppfinnarJocke

I've managed to install the plugin, it shows on the Settings > Plugins
tab (as "Spotify (v0.1)"), and is enabled. So far, so good.

But... when I click "Settings" over on the right of the plugin tab, I
get
404 Not Found:
plugins/Extensions/settings/plugins/Spotify/settings/basic.html

The "Settings" link points to
http://127.0.0.1:9000/plugins/Extensions/settings/plugins/Spotify/settings/basic.html

The "Settings" link for other plugins look similar, for instance
http://127.0.0.1:9000/plugins/Extensions/settings/plugins/RSSNews/settings/basic.html
and work fine.

Could this be because I have a "non-standard" XP installation, where
the SB plugin stuff is in C:\Users\All Users\Application
Data\Squeezebox\prefs\plugin? In that dir I have a "spotify.prefs"
created today, but for some reason I still get the error message
above.

Any thoughts, anyone?
