Would it be possible for you to do the following ?
1. Shutdown LMS and take a copy of library.db file in LMS Cache
directory and zip it and mail it to me
2. Mail me the server.log file or the section of the server.log file
which contains the errors regarding the files that aren't properly
restored
3. Zip and mail me the TrackStat backup file which you are trying to
restore

This will make it a bit easier for me to understand what's going on.

Yes, I left the operation running and went out for the day (I remember
it taking a long time previously).

I think I checked the server log and saw that the restore has finished,
can't be sure though.

I did have the "find alternative files option enabled" as well as using
musicbrainz tags...but like I said the strange thing is that some
rating have been restored and some haven't.

I'll re-run the restore and see what happens.

Have you waited for the restore operation to finish ?
It runs in the background and it can take a few hours if you have a
large library or a large backup file.
There is a message in the LMS server.log file when the restore has
completed.

If you have the "Find alternative files" option enabled in TrackStat
backup settings page it should find the files as long as it's only the
beginning of the path that has changed. However, it can take a long time
to run the restore operation with this option enabled.

Disabling the "Find alternative files" option should speed up the
restore process significantly.
If it does a rescan in the middle of the restore I think you need to
redo the restore to ensure everything is restored safely.

After the restore have completed, use the "Delete unused statistics"
button in TrackStat settings page in the "Backup/Restore/Clear" section,
this will remove any TrackStat entries that points to non existing
files. This operation is likely going to completely hang LMS for a
while, so don't executing it when you are about to use the system to
play music.

The TrackStat data consists of:
- Current rating, playcounts and last played times: This is what you see
in most TrackStat based menus
- History of previous, ratings, play counts and last played times: This
is what you see in the "... recently..." TrackStat browsed menus

The current rating, playcounts and last played times are restored first
and later in the restore process the history is restored, so possibly
this might be what makes it look like it had restored files which were
at the end of the file, it probably had restored the current statistics
for that file but not the history.

Got it! Thanks for answering my many questions.

No pain no gain. This new server has already cut my scan times in half
so when the painful switching part is over, it's going to be nice.

By the way, I continued having problems with MIP stalling when
dynamically update was enabled in custom scan for MIP export. I now just
update it during scans. MIP doesn't crash or hang, but the database just
stops updating and the service has to be restarted to make it work
again.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Trackstat Restore

2013-06-13 Thread MeSue

Does Trackstat import in the same order that files are listed in the
backup XML file? If so, then it appears everything is there, even though
Custom Scan said it was still running. And the songs with those "no
matching path entries" have their stats when I check them.

I will do a TrackStat export now, and see if the filesize matches pretty
closely to the one I imported. No, it is only 1/3 of the file size, so I
will try restoring again.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Trackstat Restore

2013-06-13 Thread MeSue

For the record, Trackstat restore took 3 hours the second time with the
option disabled for trying to match files. For around 25,000 tracks. I
also had MIP update disabled because that seems to slow it down, also.

After it finished, I did what you said to remove unused statistics. It
only took a minute or two to complete, and then when I created a backup
it was very close in file size to the one I just restored, so I'm not
sure if that did anything. I'll check the XML when I gat back to my PC.
Anyway, hopefully won't need another restore for a long long time.

I kind of like having MIP as a secondary storage for my stats. I have
needed it a few times when my ratings got hosed. I wasn't using Smart
Mix all that much because of the volume changes between local music and
Rhapsody, but I see Michael has included a setting for that and I'm
going to install it today. It's exciting to have some LMS development
going on again!

Unless this is Erland's custom MIP code in his plugins and he did a better
job than we did, then the issue might be that the plugin is still using
synchronous HTTP calls to MIP. This can block the server when responses
take a long time. It's been a thorn in our flesh for a long time, but we
never got around to fix it...

I think the issue MeSue is is that MIP isn't updating its database, I
don't think this is related to the synchronous HTTP calls.
However, you are correct that my MIP integration is using synchronous
HTTP so if MIP stops responding it can cause LMS to be slow or
unresponsive.

Not at the moment.

If you like to ensure TrackStat data is ok, you can install the
"Database Query" plugin and look at its "TrackStat Statistics" query.
In a setup that has been using TrackStat for a while the "Number of
history entries" entry should be considerably higher than the "Number
of songs" entry.

I'm getting the message for a large amount of tracks.
However, after a reboot my trackstats appears to be back, so I'm
guessing that it must be warnings about old entries. (its been months

Do I need to press "Delete unused statistics" to clean up my DB?
Is there a way to get the plug-in to do this "cleaning" as a part of a

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] TrackStat restore on SBS 7.6

2011-07-27 Thread erland

The backup file url's are URL encoded, so it should in the database in
tracks table match an entry referred to as:

Code:

file:///mnt/musik/ACDC/Black%20Ice%20(Rock%20-%202008)/02%20-Skies%20On%20Fire%20.flac

Which on the file system should match:

Code:

/mnt/musik/ACDC/Black Ice (Rock - 2008)/02 -Skies On Fire .flac

Is this the correct path on the file system ?
With "Rock - 2008" in the middle and not just "Rock - " as you wrote ?
And an extra space before .flac at the end ?

Do you get these warnings on all files or just a few of them ?

If you have renamed files previously, this might just be warning about
old entries in the backup which no longer exist on the file system but
if you get them for all or most entries something is wrong.

Hi Earland
Thanks for responding to my post.
The only thing that may unusual is that I use Google Chrome as my

viruse protection. I was not even aware of skins so assume mine is the
default.
Log show a whole series of this type of thing:

I guess this is connected to my attempts to restore lost Trakstat
data.

After this is

Progress bar ? Is there a progres bara somewhere in TrackStat ?
Either my memory is starting to get really bad or you are looking at
something else then TrackStat.

Could you describe exactly how you perform the restore, what menus do
you enter and what are the attribute values and what buttons to you
click ?

There are two ways to perform a restore as far as I know:
- From the TrackStat settings menu where you will only see the progress
in the server.log file. There will be one entry in the beginning that
indicates which file it tries to restore and one entry at the end when
the restore is finished.
- From the Custom Scan interface if you have Custom Scan installed. In
this case you can see directly in the Custom Scan settings interface
when the restore is finished.

There aren't any progress bars involved in any of the solutions as far
as I know.

I haven't implemented this but would appreciate keeping this in.

Removing this would preclude playlists such as:
- Music I often listen to on the weekend.
- Or songs I listen to at night
etc.

I presume that it is possible to setup such Dynamic
Playlists/SQLPlaylists? Maybe ones like these could be added to the
default Dynamic Playlists?

My trackstat history is still a bit short for those to work on SC yet.
But these kind of playlists are available in Windows Media player. I
don't use them there as I don't often play music on my pc. And now when
I do I do it through SC/SqueezeSlave so I can consolidate my trackstats
:)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Trackstat restore vs. MusicIP Stats restore

2009-08-03 Thread MeSue

Thanks so much for explaining all that. Yes, "MusicIP Statistics Import"
is what I was referring to. I appreciate the iTunes info too since I am
thinking of getting an iPod in the future.

I needed a complete restore so I'm glad I went with the Trackstat
restore option. I guess if I wanted to fill in the last played counts
for the time since my last good Trackstat backup, I could have done the
MusicIP Statistics import after the Trackstat restore, but I'm not going
to bother.

I think you're safe doing away with historical information. I only care
about the date added, last played, and number of plays.

I suppose you with "MusicIP Stats restore" are talking about the
"MusicIP Statistics Import" module provided by TrackStat and shown in
the Custom Scan user interface ?

Assuming you do, the difference is as follows:

TrackStat restore:
- Always writes the information in the TrackStat backup file directly
to the database, if there already is information for a track it will be
overwritten.
- Restores both latest state and historical information for each track
with information about exactly when it has been rated/played not just
the last time.
- Information in the database for tracks that isn't in the TrackStat
backup file won't be removed. To remove this data you need to do a
"Remove all data" operation from the TrackStat settings page before
starting the restore.

MusicIP Statistics Import:
- Play counts are only imported if they are higher in MusicIP
- Last played times are only imported if play count is higher in
MusicIP and the last played time is newer in MusicIP
- Ratings are always imported
- It will only restore the latest state for each track, no historical
information is imported regarding exactly when you have played or rated
a track before it was last rated and played.

The reason MusicIP is a bit smarter is to make it possible to have a
two way synchronization with the Export/Import modules. This makes more
sense for the iTunes Import/Export modules where you might have played
some tracks on the iPod and played other tracks on SqueezeCenter and
then you don't want everything in iTunes to overwrite SqueezeCenter
data.

There is a risk to accidentally overwrite ratings during two way
synchronization, so the order is important to avoid this. I think the
correct procedure to do a two way synchronization with iTunes is:
1. Synchronize the iPod with iTunes
2. Run the TrackStatiTunesUpdate.pl script to update iTunes with the
change file since last time (this only exports incremental changes, not
everything in the SqueezeCenter dataabse)
3. Run the iTunes Statistics Import module to update SqueezeCenter with
all new ratings and play counts produced by the iPod

If you perform step 2 before step 3 it will make sure that iTunes is
updated with the latest SqueezeCenter changes before you run step 3 to
import it the other way. This way there isn't any risk that old iTunes
ratings overwrite newer ratings in SqueezeCenter.

Step 2 would in the MusicIP case be the same as having the "Dynamically
update statistics" option enabled in the MusicIP Statistics Export
module.

So to sum it up:
- If you don't care about historical information, you should be fine
doing a "MusicIP Statistics Import"
- If you want a complete restore you should use the TrackStat restore
option

The historical information is barely used in TrackStat, I think it's
only used in some TrackStat browse menus/playlists called "... recently
played ...". I've actually been thinking about removing it as I think
that most users only really need the latest state to be able to get the
browsing/playlist functionality they want.

Another reason to remove the historical information is that there isn't
anything similar in the standard SqueezeCenter database. Currenlty
TrackStat stores its information in separate tables to be able to have
the above mentioned merge logic during two way synchronization but
eventually I think I will switch so it uses the standard SqueezeCenter
tables and then there isn't a place for the historical information.
Today SqueezeCenter is able to persistently store statistics so it
survives a rescan without TrackStat. TrackStat is only needed to make it
possible to browse the statistics, do two way synchronzation and to
change ratings directly in SqueezeCenter. As an example, if you use
iTunes and only change ratings directly in iTunes or iPod, the latest
ratings will be imported from iTunes to SqueezeCenter during a
SqueezeCenter rescan without TrackStat.

I'm not sure I'd trust MIP for all stats. eg. MIP doesn't scan as well as SC
scanner, eg. if you have a song not on an album, it gives the album name as
"Miscellaneous", so I'm not sure album stats would be right in all cases.

Also, MIP doesn't handle as many file formats as SC. eg. MIP doesn't interpret
.cue files.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Trackstat restore problem

2007-10-29 Thread ZeddZull

Restarting slimserver seems to have fixed the problem. As best as I can
tell, for some reason slimserver was caching the corrupted file and
changing the name or even deleting the file didn't seem to make any
difference. I restarted slimserver and resubmitted the name of the
fixed file and it ran like a charm.

Thanks for the help and a great plugin. I couldn't live without it. I
wrote a script that uses my ratings to create a sync batch file so that
I can synch my MP3 player based on the trackstat ratings. This saves
me from having to rate the music twice - once for my squeezebox and
once for my MP3 play synch routine.

That part of the file looks fine, so I suspect maybe the wrong file is
read for some reason.

The debug parameter is called "DEBUG LOGGING" and is found in "Server
Settings/Plugins" at the bottom of the "TrackStat" section.

Could you turn on the TrackStat debugging parameter and run it. It
should log something like this in the beginning:
===
TrackStat: Restore from: C:\My Documents\mybackup.xml
===

Seems like the backup file can't be read or it reads the wrong file,
could you post the first part of the backup file. Open it in a text
editor, for example notepad and post the first 20 rows.

Could you also post some rows around line 3672 in the backup file,
since the error seems to indicate that there is something wrong there.

Have you entered the complete path to the backup file in the backup
file parameter ?
That is, you shouldn't just enter "mybackup.xml", you should enter
something like "C:\My Documents\mybackup.xml"

If that doesn't help, could you turn on the debugging messages flag at
the bottom of the TrackStat section in Server Settings/Plugins and
perform a restore and post the log from: http://localhost:9000/log.txt
