the IP address. Can or does it uses another method to maintain the

Okay. New version is in the repository:

This should get you going.

RE: [qmailtoaster] qmailadmin password

2019-02-18 Thread Biju Jose
Hi,

I managed to get things working. The function was called once in qmailadmin.c
and twice in user.c

The RPM and SRPM can be downloaded from the following links.

RPM :
https://www.dropbox.com/s/iq0klajwd779psf/qmailadmin-1.2.16-2.el7.x86_64.rpm?dl=0
SRPM :
https://www.dropbox.com/s/09gy3c4jytovvvt/qmailadmin-1.2.16-2.el7.src.rpm?dl=0

The password should be minimum of 10 characters, one uppercase, one lowercase,
one digit and one symbol.

Please help me to test this.

Best regards
Biju Jose

I am also having trouble in enforcing strong passwords for qmailtoaster, some

The qmailadmin needs some updates in this regard, but unfortunately, coding is

Ideally the password should be minimum of 10 characters, with a combination of

Any thoughts on how to go about this?

Hello
very nice
What you should maybe add, is the password check complexity and not allow an
easy password when you create or modify an account
but it is a really nice job you did
it d be a great asset for qmailtoaster

RE: [qmailtoaster] qmailadmin password

2019-02-08 Thread Biju Jose
Hi All,

Sorry for pulling up an old thread.

I am also having trouble in enforcing strong passwords for qmailtoaster, some
of my users use silly easy to guess passwords and I am having trouble to block
the spams passing thru such accounts.

The qmailadmin needs some updates in this regard, but unfortunately, coding is
not my fort, but I can help in whichever way I can, if someone can come
forward to look at this.

Ideally the password should be minimum of 10 characters, with a combination of
lowercaps, uppercaps, numbers and symbols. It should also not contain the name
part of the email id. The changes we make should stay thru the updates also.

Any thoughts on how to go about this?

Best regards
Biju  Jose

Hi Eric

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, but "1234" is not! I would be happy if at least 9 characters were required.

I know there are some patches for qmailadmin out there, but one of
Qmailtoaster's many advantages is that I do not have to compile at all.

Se for example

After playing around with CentOS 6 and 7 I discovered (on COS 6 long
ago, and COS 7 recently) that I was unable to login to qmailadmin under
the postmaster account of any domain after a migration, that is, an
upload of the vpopmail database from the old server, and I was also
unable to send mail from the postmaster account on CentOS 7 with the
error 'vchkpw-submission: password fail' in /var/log/maillog. With other
domain accounts there was no such problem. So after some experimentation
I found a simple reset of the postmaster password using the command
'/home/vpopmail/bin/vpasswd postmas...@mydomain.com mypassword' resolved
the issue and I was able to login to qmailadmin under the postmaster
account and send mail from it.

I'm not sure what would cause the problem, but this was the fix.

RE: [qmailtoaster] Qmailadmin vacation message issues

2011-07-19 Thread Curt Turner
The issue was still present in version 1.2.15-1.3.9.

I believe I've fixed the issue, at least for my installation. I had to modify
version 1.2.15 qmailadmin's user.c around line 962 as follows:

  if ( (strcmp (cforward, forward) != 0) || saveacopy ) {

if (strcmp (cforward, blackhole) == 0) {

  fprintf (fs, # delete\n);

  emptydotqmail = 0;

} else if (spam_check == 1) {

#ifdef MODIFY_SPAM_NEED_EMAIL

   fprintf(fs, %s %s@%s\n, SPAM_COMMAND, ActionUser, Domain);

#else

  fprintf (fs, %s\n, SPAM_COMMAND);

#endif

  emptydotqmail = 0;

} else {

  if ( saveacopy ) {

fprintf (fs, %s/ MAILDIR /\n, vpw-pw_dir);

/* this isn't enough to consider the .qmail file non-empty */

  }

}

  }

 Can you tell us a little about your system? (distro/arch)
 When you upgraded qmailadmin, what switches did you use to rebuild it?
 What does the command getenforce show?

I wrote this original post but I'm replying from this email that I have to use
since my system isn't processing email. Interesting that this one got through,
as I never received it to the original address. So this email may be somewhat
tied to my other post about upgrading clamav and email no longer working.
Amazingly, I might have been right about that since this email went through
after I upgraded Webmin, and after I upgraded qmailadmin. FYI I mentioned in my
other thread that I fixed the qmailadmin 500 internal server error by creating
a symlink to the libmysqlclient.so.15 in /usr/lib. I created symlinks to the
others while I was there, even though this alone fixed it:

cd /usr/lib
ln -s mysql/libmysqlclient.so.15.0.0 libmysqlclient.so.15

I still don't know why I needed to do this, since /etc/ld.so.conf includes this
line:
include ld.so.conf.d/*.conf

and ld.so.conf.d/*.conf points to /etc/ld.so.conf.d/mysql-i386.conf, which
includes this line:
/usr/lib/mysql

which is the directory that includes libmysqlclient.so.15 (symlink to
libmysqlclient.so.15.0.0). Smelled like a permision issue to me yesterday, and
still does.

getenforce command indicates disabled.

I've also just noticed squirrelmail is down (blank white screen). Log shows

PHP Warning: require_once(../config/config.php) [a
href='function.require-once'function.require-once/a]: failed to open stream:
Permission denied in /usr/share/squirrelmail/functions/global.php on line 92
PHP Fatal error: require_once() [a
href='function.require'function.require/a]: Failed opening required
'../config/config.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in
/usr/share/squirrelmail/functions/global.php on line 92

So squirrelmail and qmailadmin not working: fairly certain a result of the
Webmin upgrade, v1.410 to v1.490, as nothing else interesting going on prior to
that.

Aliases and forwards are essentially the same thing in Qmail.

After a little bit of research and testing, I wanted to update this.
Aliases were dropped in Qmailadmin 1.0.21 (they're still available in
previous versions if you want to dig one up) and merged into Forwards.
Aliases were dropped because mail destined for an alias was dropped
directly into the Maildir; this did not allow .qmail message processing
which was deemed a non-desirable behavior.
In Qmailadmin 1.0.25 and later there is a conversion tool included to
convert aliases to forwards.

Those headers are correct. The headers are supposed to include every
transaction. If mail comes in for [EMAIL PROTECTED], but is aliased to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] it will show BOTH addresses, since it was originally
destined for [EMAIL PROTECTED], but was ALSO delivered to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] This is the correct and proper behavior. Headers are
meant to be as detailed as possible to troubleshoot issues. The header
would be no use if it only showed [EMAIL PROTECTED], since that user
doesn't really exist anyway.
The problem is in your fetchmail script or your mail sorting. I'm not
sure if fetchmail only checks the first delivered-to entry or if it can
scan for multiples since I do not use fetchmail that much/deeply. You
could write a mailfilter script or even a bash script to handle this
though.

hi

thanks for your reply

i am not an expert on this but here is what i feel

if it was forwarding then it is logical that there will be atleast two
delivered-to address and all information displayed in the headers

but in case of aliasing the goal is collect all emails pertaining to
several users in a single box and be able to download and distribute it
locally.

to ascertain further i chkd with three other email servers

1) hmailserver (opensource )

2) mailenable (mailenable.com)

3)imail (ipswitch.com)

all of them show only the aliased email (alias_to_user @ mydomain.com) id
in the headers and there was absolutely no reference to the actual pop3
email id where the email has finally arrived in the headers.

for vpopmail i did a work around -- i was able to carryout the above
requirement by placing .qmail-alias_to_user file under the main
mydomain.com directory and then the headers come correctly via ssh console

but this is a manual operation and there is no facility in the qmailadmin
web interface for this

all comments welcome

Aliases and forwards are essentially the same thing in Qmail.
This is normal behavior for Qmail. Other mail systems will track the
mail history through log files which in my opinion I find tedious -
having to track several transactions instead of just being able to look
at the header.

Postfix shows who it was originally to, and who is was delivered to. It
can (optionally) show the full transaction path in the headers as well.

There is no mechanism in place to automate this. It seems to be easily
writable though.

There are ways to secure/prohibit pop3 access. Firewall comes to mind.
An unknown password might do the trick as well. The best solution
depends on various aspects of your installation.

Make sure that your httpd is running. Pending on your distro, you can start
from command line with apachectl start or apachectl restart or
/etc/init.d/httpd stop then /etc/init.d/httpd start maybe
/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd stop then /etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd start. Also be
sure that httpd is set to start at boot; see your distro's notes for how to
turn on and off services.

2008-11-20 Thread senthil vel
Really Thanks Thomas,
  I found the problem. The http service was running. The
problem was, the Mod sec stopped the requests. In the http error log,
i found that,

Thu Nov 20 08:31:55 2008] [error] [client 0.0.0.0] ModSecurity: Access
denied with code 400 (phase 2). Pattern match ^[\\d\\.]+$ at

[severity CRITICAL] [tag PROTOCOL_VIOLATION/IP_HOST] [hostname

The domain name was having some dns problem. mail.mydomain.com was
pointed to some other IP. So that the problem. Now fixed it. Thanks
again.

Thanks and Regards,

This still holds true. I use vqadmin for password retrieval, but that's
about it. Everything else is recommended to be done from the CLI.
Is there a way to have ONLY ONE administrator account for ALL THE
DOMAINS in qmailadmin ?

Never seen anything like that. If all the users for all the domains
were the same I guess you could just use alias domains for the xtras,
and there would only be one login that way. Otherwise I just set the
postmaster password the same for the domains to be handled by 1 person.

Very strange, I just installed VQadmin myself. I used it to create 2 domains.
The domains show in the vqadmin list, in mySQL but NOT in the isoQlogs domain
list and my qmailadmin menu for both of those domains looks exactly like
Everett's. I can't make a new user, forward, nothing. There is no list of
things to do. My domains are not sub domains. I'm going to remove them and
recreate them from CL and see what happens.

admin:toaster from the faq doesn't work... (But then, neither does the

Is there a reset button somewhere on the admin pass that doesn't require
you to know the original admin pass? (without having to totally

(I'm using the internal IP atm since we haven't switched over the MX

To get to the main admin page, it's http://domain/admin-toaster/ (the
trailing slash is important). The default here is admin / toaster . I
can't tell you what the qmailadmin password was - it's whatever you set
the postmaster's password for that domain was.
If that doesn't work, you can normally see the pass in
/usr/share/toaster/include/admin-pass for the
http://domain/admin-toaster/ page.

TTBOMK, forwards are the same as aliases. It's just the toaster's way of
handling this. Were you expecting something that aliases can do that

AFAIK you can limit also domain quotas (i don't use it) via vqadmin
http://YOUTOASTERIP/mail/vqadmin/toaster.vqadmin?nav=view_domaindname=THEDO
MAINYOUWANTTOLIMIT.COM.

Is up to the postmaster of whatever domain what he can do with that quota.

Howdy,

Does anybody have a good reason for why qmailadmin is compiled to allow
postmaster accounts to change mailbox quotas, including changing them to
unlimited?

Seems to me that considering the way most people would use the toaster
(hosting many domains), you would not want the postmasters to be able to
modify quotas. Is there a way to change this ability in a setting somewhere
I have missed without re-compiling qmailadmin?

Right, you can also do the same thing with vmoddomlimits. However, I
have never had good luck with domain quotas. If you read the
documentation from Inter7, they say that domain quotas are broken and
that they don't ever have any plans to fix them.

That is why I don't want to allow the postmasters to be able to modify
quotas.

Are domain quotas working correctly for others out there?

You can reach all (including unlinked) pages by selecting "New Pages" from
the sidebar menu. It might be a little difficult finding what you're looking
for though.

There is a link to it from the main page. It is the
troubleshooting itself. In the Table of Contents, click
Troubleshooting, and then click the Troubleshooting heading, maybe this
needs to be more clear?

I have had an issue with this in the past, I found that by default when
toasteradmin creates the domain, it puts a 0 in the Quotas for the

I don't know of a way to do this (lock down quota change from qmailadmin). I

RE: [qmailtoaster] qmailadmin - CSS/XHTML?

2006-10-06 Thread Quinn Comendant
I met with our xhtml/css guy today. We decided upon the following plan.
It's pretty obvious what needs to happen, but I thought I would run the
game plan past y'all since this work might end up in the qmailadmin rpm.

- Rebuild (most) everything as XHTML. (We will not be changing the list
tables -- View email accounts, etc -- generated from the compiled C
code, which will end up being invalid XHTML 1.1, but oh well...)
- Build global navigation bar (see below for example) as part of
header.html.
- Add short HTML comments after all the ##x variables to show what
prints there.
- Make all link-names/functions/page-titles consistent.
(Add/Edit/Delete versus New/Modify/Delete, etc.)
- Rearranging items on the page to make it more intuitive.
- Add help text for most elements to describe what they do. (This
will be obviously not part of qmailadmin's localization system. It will
be hard-coded english text in the templates. For our purposes adding
help messages is essential, even if, annoyingly, they will still be
english if the page is viewed from a non-english browser. We'll avoid
100 support requests by simply explaining how this thing works. What is
a Mail Robot anyways???)
- Tag all elements with class=/id= names to make it easier to style
with CSS.
- Apply minimal CSS.

Global nav links will be this.

Not that I know of, though if you search for a post from Jake Vickers - Call
to C programmers - he obviously has plans to rewrite vqAdmin.

I have also been thinking about some additions to the mrtg monitoring for
disk space, mem and cpu load; and have been using a perl script
http://www.rulesemporium.com/programs/sa-stats.txt to analyze which rules
are most hit by spam so I can check the scores and modify one or two. I was
thinking of converting this to php and outputting XHTML again to use CSS on
it. These are still just ideas - and I was just going to look a packaging
them up as an rpm to add onto the current install.

It might be worth having a look at combining the efforts and developing a
new modern look and feel to a consistent admin interface, possibly with a
menu bar down the side, I don't know what your thoughts are.

RE: [qmailtoaster] qmailadmin - CSS/XHTML?

2006-10-05 Thread Quinn Comendant
I googled qmailadmin templates and found only one set of modified
templates, slightly prettier but even worse code -- more tables and
font tags added. I will be launching QmailAdmin to our users in 2
weeks, and so I take the initiative and will hire a XHTML/CSS geek that
I work with to rebuild the templates. The idea will be to format them
in pure XHTML so that any design whatever can be applied to it. Once
done I'll contribute to the list.

As for a consistent admin interface, I think that is very important --
and very *easy* if we start out the right way. However, I see the
interfaces into two categories:

1. Public admin interfaces, as used by our customers. This includes
only QmailAdmin for now, but which we will be incorporating into our
hosting control panel with a basic spamassassin settings form,
support ticketing system, and a knowledgebase.

2. Qmail Toaster admin interfaces. These will only be used by our few
administrators who manage the mail server. I'm less concerned with the
consistency of this interface. None of our paying customers will ever
see them. But of course, as administrators OUR joy is also important!
Although I personally will probably rarely use the admin-toaster,
instead relying on command-line tools.

I do think that some QT admins would find it useful to add to and
customize the toaster-admin interface to their liking. If the
toaster-admin is built using standard web technologies (i.e. NOT
compiled C) and structured in a way that facilitates extension, then it
would be easy to add custom screens like the SA stats, or whatever said
admin chooses.

The current admin-toaster interface doesn't suck, but it could use an
improved navigation interface, especially if additional
components/pages are added. I'm happy to join in to help move this
along.

I'd certainly like to see this happen.

FWIW, I like the IPCop interface. The web interface for the appliance looks
just like their web site across the top (which can be confusing at times!).
I don't know if it's 'good code' or not though.
