Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] dropping connection after firmware update
For what it's worth, I have been running 7.5.1-r8805 for three days now and haven't had a single instance of the Radio dropping its connection. Bear in mind my issue was slightly different from what the majority have reported here - the Radio was regularly failing to reconnect following WOL at the server, but that issue (so far) appears to be fixed for me with the new firmware. Will add to the bug report. -- Siduhe Who am I on 'LAST.FM' (http://www.last.fm/user/siduhe)? -Siduhe Loved Tracks radio got the thumbs up. My inbox this morning had an email with the subject Logitech wants your honest opinion. The body said: At Logitech, we're always striving to improve our products, so we'd like to hear what you think about your Logitech® Squeezebox Radio. Tell us what you like and what we can improve. Be honest. What you think is directly linked to what we do and how we can improve. (And it will only take two minutes!) We realize you had a choice. Thanks for choosing Logitech! --- There were 3 questions; what can we do to improve the radio, and what do you like about it. The third was a scale from would not recommend to would recommend to someone else, though I can't remember their exact words. I gave it the lowest on that scale based on my experience. I wouldn't wish this internet radio on anyone as it is right now. As for improvements, I said STABILITY!! Then described how unusable the radio was until I set up my Mac Mini as a Squeezebox Server. Not a consumer-friendly alternative, though it gives me what I thought I'd purchased when I bought the radio. On its own, it shuts off repeatedly, forgets presets, and on-and-on. It's a disgrace to Logitech at this point. -- linrey linrey's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37639 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76938 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Here's why they should fix the problem: There are prospective customers (such as me) who have been researching the Squeezebox radio, and who think it sounds fantastic except for two things: lack of battery (apparently in the process of being rectified) and the firmware situation. I have been checking both the Amazon reviews and this forum every few days, waiting to see that both of these problems have been resolved, and when that happens, I plan to place an order for two of them, one for me and one for my wife. I would really love to have one of these things, because 95% of my music listening these days is to internet streams (radio or Pandora mostly) and I don't like having to sit in front of my computer all the time. I'd love to be able to carry the music around the house with me. But I'm not pulling the trigger until I know I won't get a buggy product (and I want a battery pack too, for the above-mentioned portability). I seriously doubt that I'm the only one in this position. Logitech should absolutely fix this issue ASAP. (And yes, I did actually go to the trouble of creating a forum account so I could post this. I hope someone from Logitech reads it.) -- jbunniii jbunniii's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38180 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76938 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] dropping connection after firmware update
Just bought a SB Radio TODAY!!! Had to buy 2 before I got one to work right. Radio #1: Was forced immediately to upgrade to 7.5 on initial setup. First attempt to download had an error, so I did it again, successfully. Then downloaded installed the SB Server on my computer, loaded a few apps, programmed a few presets and thought I was good to go. At one point, station stopped, and clock screen appeared. Then strange things started happening with my menu. Couldn't find My music anymore (even tho I was connected to the server). Also Presets started disappearing. Took that radio back and got a new one. But before I did anything, I found this forum and decided I didn't want to upgrade to 7.5. I tried all the tricks mentioned to not upgrade and get out of the upgrade screen, but was locked on that screen until I finally gave up and did it. What I did next was uninstall the SB Server, click on the link in an earlier post in this thread for 7.4.2 of the SB Server and downloaded/installed that. Then I turned on the radio and it pretty quickly told me to download the 7.4.2 software, which I happily did. Working fine now. When I switch over to mysqueezebox.com though I get the prompt to upgrade back to 7.5. Luckily I'm able to ignore that and push menu or one of the presets and the disappears and the radio acts fine. But most of the time I'll be on the SB server since I stream my mp3 files from a computer that's on 24/7. Am I fixed? I sure hope so. Thanks to everyone in this thread for all the advice. (If I'd have read it before I bought the radio though, I probably wouldn't have!). I'll definitely do some research here before I voluntarily upgrade again. -- diannabill diannabill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38082 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76938 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] dropping connection after firmware update
Well, well...my new SBR is holding the connection just fine now! I received my SBR about 3 weeks ago. Used it about a week and it held the connection all the time. Then I installed the server software and immediately started dropping the connection frequently. At first the disconnects happened sporadically, then it was all the time (about 2-3 times/hour). Thinking through the start of the disconnects, I realized it started with installing the server software. So I uninstalled it, meaning to reinstall it later. That was 3 days ago. My radio has disconnected about once/24 hours of continuous play. That is 3 times in 3 days. Now, why do I need the server software if my SBR is working just fine? Not planning to use the software in the future. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] dropping connection after firmware update
Logitech has opened a new bug for this problem. If you have previously voted for bug 16046, this bug has been closed. Evidently two (or more bugs got mixed into this one and the techs believe that they have cured one of them and have opened a new bug for the rest.) If you are having trouble with sudden stopping of your station since the 7.5 upgrade, please go to http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=16170 and vote for Bug 16170 so that the Logitechs will turn their attention to this on-going problem. The more specific you can be in your description of the circumstances when this manifestation occurs, the easier it will be for them to isolate the problem and cure it. Those of you who are techie enough to download logs showing the activity at the time the station turns itself off could be very useful by posting the logs on the bugzilla site. Thank you. This 7.5 upgrade situation is frustrating at best. I have two Squeezebox radios that performed flawlessly before the forced upgrade. For your concern on the server, I do advise to go back to the 7.4.2 version due to the 7.5 is for the Squeezebox Touch. You can download the software from the link below: http://downloads.slimdevices.com/SqueezeboxServer_v7.4.2/ Once you have installed the 7.4.2 version again on your computer the Radio should automatically update to 7.4.2 firmware. If the problem still persist please let me know to further advise on the situation. And if I only use mysqueezebox.com. I'm supposed to install sbserver on my computer just so I can roll-back to 7.4.2? Why can't Logitech just give us an option on the Radio to install a prior version of the FW? Perhaps there is a connectivity issue to the servers that I am not seeing from here at Logitech. Some people are using Slacker. What service(s) or radio stations are the rest of you using? This same behavior could come from connectivity problems to our server, or to the music services' servers. Thanks for any info! Huge problems with Slacker and Pandora. My SB Radio either stops or freezes, (with no response to any controls, requiring a re-boot). I have 4 SB Radio's, all have this problem. In 2 hours this morning, I've have to re-boot 3 times. This is unacceptable. I've been using the SB Radio since December. These problems only occurred after the 7.5.0 FW update. Big mistake not giving us an option ON THE RADIO to roll-back to a prior FW version (and no, I will not install SB Server for the sole purpose of fooling the SB Radio to roll-back to 7.4.2) I would suspect that it is a very easy update to the 7.5 fw add the ability for us to get back to 7.4.2 Tony -- Tony T Tony T's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=34544 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76938 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

I haven't read all your postings, but have you specifically listed your operating system, whether you are running wireless, wired, or a hybrid, whether you are on SbS or mysb.com, etc. Some details would help other forum users to help diagnose your issue. Keep in mind that these forums are NOT logitech support. They are simply users helping users. And without more detail, folks can't help you. Don't assume that 7.5 is broken and logitech is working behind the scenes to fix it. It appears that 7.5 works pretty well for most people. Garym- I believe the people posting here are having problems with their SB Radio's. My radio wasn't working perfectly but it wasn't exhibiting the weird behaviour I'm seeing now (clock screensaver popping up, graphic not updating when I change stations, constantly dropping the radio feed, etc) until after it updated the firmware to 7.5 last week. I haven't changed any settings on the radio since I set it up on my network (wireless) when I bought it. I'm fairly certain my issues are directly related to the firmware update. I do plan on communicating this to the Logitech support people when I'm home and in front of the device. -- JWagner JWagner's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37527 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76938 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

If the WOL packet is sent from the Radio to wake up the server, it reconnects fine. However, if the WOL packet is sent from a different device, the Radio sometimes does not reconnect. You're running your SB Radio on MySB. At the same time 7.5.0 was released, MySB was most likely upgraded to support the SB Touch. Since there has been various problems with MySB for the different Squeezeboxes since that happened I do not think it's a safe assumption that the problems are caused by anything you installed in your equipment, it might just as well be a server side problem in which case rolling back to 7.4,2 wouldn't help (if it would work at all with MySB). -- alfista alfista's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32396 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76938 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
