Since this is my first post, I'll introduce myself by saying I have my own
generator, an SG6 SilverGen. I have some questions regarding getting a
stronger ppm, but for now, I have another issue which came up tonight:

I have a friend who is trying to set me straight about using colloidal
silver. Here is her email to me:

Barb,

Had some time to look up this substance on a couple of trusted websites for
herbals and other things.

This is one we use in the health region.

I had some concerns as the consequences in using this substance are severe.

Just look under the herbs section.

Take care

Judy

Natural standard

http://www.naturalstandard.com/naturalstandard/index.asp

I can't access the site without a subscription. Has anyone heard of it?

It bothers me that she is only looking at sites her hospital uses for
research. When I told her I use colloidal for everything from a sore throat,
eye infections, cuts, use it on my animals, she told me "the placebo effect
of these alternative therapies is a remarkable thing".

So I need some ammunition! Since she is very technical, a good published
study would be great!

Thanks. Barbara

That's true. The only one good company in US is Green Pastures. They
have naturally processed, fermented cod liver oil, that has natural
vitamin A/D still in it.

WAPF chapter leader for Tampa Bay in Florida went out there to the

their Blue Ice, fermented CLO.

Most cod liver oils have their natural vitamins A/D stripped and are
replaced by synthetics. See the Weston A. Price web site for more

I just heard that homeschooling has become illegal in california, don't
know if it is true...

When my kids were little, I had a pretty good relationship with their
doc, I did not know about cs, and did not believe too much in the herbs
etc. It was when it all stopped working, I ran into the wall medically,
that I found the alternatives that worked. What an education!

I ended up getting them some shots, and not others, even their doc did
not agree with all the shots that were being recommended, and here, made
into law. I had to sign a form in front of a notary (why- to make sure I
am who I say I am, or just to put one more hurdle in to discourage me?),
but no problem. At times I thought I may have been the only thinking
mother in the school.

Was it here I read about the family that had to move to another state to
avoid the overzealous doc that wanted to use their poor kid as a lab rat
for cancer drugs? Who turned them over to the state when they did not
want to let him kill their child that way?  I guess he probably died
anyway, poor thing, but hopefully not tortured to death with their
experiments.  It sounded disturbingly like Nazi Germany

Oh well, no lack of big problems around right now. I am thinking of
stuffing my money in my mattress, or bury it around my house like my old
auntie used to do...

I agree wholeheartedly with you, Carol Ann. It really makes the group so much
more interesting. We also get a chance to get to know members from different
sides. I really like to stray from the topic occasionally :)

Barbara

I rather enjoy the occasional tangents the list ventures into. Because, I
learn. Even though I know enough about CS gratis the more knowledgeable people
who generously share on a regular basis, there is still more to learn. But,
that does not mean that there is only CS to learn about.

In part, the multitude of interesting OTs that occassionally "pop up" ARE
what contributes greatly to this lists success. For sure, I've read things
that are not of interest to me, but I also understand I have options available.

What else are people to doto invigorate, to keep viable the list? Cease
and desist all conversation if it is not CS related? I suspect, the silence
would at times be deafening.

The alleged lurkers, are charged with complaining about OT's. Energy is
reciprocal - a give and take exchange. The more prolific posters are
constantly infusing energy to the lists vitality. Lurkerscontribute. If
its CS your interested in only, the move the conversations to a place where
your inquiries will be satisfied.by asking questions vs. just waiting for
the answers to appear. The presumption would be that we are mind readers who
should anticipate questions in advance.

Re: CS>CS - Barbara

I wish all people had such a deep understanding of life and life on Earth in
particular. Our planet would not be raped like it is now. Unfortunately this
is not a case and this will eventually lead to our demise.

You must be watching Meerkat Manor...isn't this a greatest little animal on
earth? Well, after Cheetah, of course.. LOL

I was crying and crying after Flower and Mozart died...
Can't wait for the new season...

Barbara

Yes, Exactly. Everything in a living system is a matrix relevant to
something else. Tied into existence. So, what is the implication? That
ET/UFO's have through thousands of years of observation adopted our behavior -
as to how we treat the lower intelligence level animals. A percentage of
humans who have evolved to a more compassionate species have come to the
realization that we cannot over hunt, over fish; continue to pollute or let
populations run rampant - thus initiated species management? A natural
progression, the beginning stages of what Sages call "enlightenment" - greater
respect for all sentient beings?

The thought of being relegated to not much more than bugs under an ET's
microscope is chilling. But, why not? Humans tend towards arrogance with
regard to their sense of self importance in the grand scheme of things.
Remember when people thought Earths Sun was the center of the Universe and the
World was flat.

Always the manipulating, curious species, we are. We stick high tech cameras
into insect fortifications, observe unknown marine life in the most remote
ocean abysses, and send exploration missions into space. It is how we learn.
ET's just learning about our species in similar manner, or manipulating?
Who knows - a rhetorical.

Regardless, it would be the height of arrogance to think that Humans, as a
species, are the only ones entitled to seek information, or privy to
knowledge about our environment.

Perhaps, we are their wild life show. They are the galactic botanists,
microbiologists documenting. Creeping around in the proverbial bushes with
their cameras, hovering their spacecrafts over the herds causing stampedes
and scarring the you know what out of us big ole elephants in the wild life
management preserves; sedating with dart guns to tag, transport and track.
Maybe, they are just leaving us to our own, inevitable, extinction. Maybe, we
are just a small bunch of Meerkats in the scheme of things.

Life - is rather ridiculous when you think of through eyes of arrogance,
superiority and self-importance only.

Carol Ann,

I do watch all the nature programs, probably saw them all. I'm very familiar
with the plight of a Cheetah that are so inbred that 85% of their genes are
identical. It is surprising that they are not extinct yet. I know of a Polar
Bear problems with the global warming. I know about bees being disoriented by
the pesticides and dying by the millions. And I do realize that if the bees
will go extinct so will we. I know about the assault that humans unleash on
the Earth. In a way I agree with the powers that be that there are too many
people on earth, do not agree with their method of genocide though.

The thought of ETs treating us like we treat animals is really chilling. But
then, we ARE less intelligent and advanced than they are... :( Wonder what are
their plans for us I don't think they want us extinct because the do have
means to do us in if they wanted to, right? They are visiting and observing
humans for eons but we are still here. I loved the books of Erich von Daniken,
read them all...LOL Very easy reading.

Anyway, I wish I saw a UFO but never did. Too bad...

Barbara

Barbara, you are right on point re the "coming to take a look at us,
Earthlings." :)

Have you ever watched the wild life shows wherein naturalists,
microbiologists, geneticists, environmental specialists, etc work as teams,
tagging and tracking animals. They monitor a species migration patterns,
habitat, mating rituals, the societies hierarchy, health, etc. etc...to
determine longevity and/or which species are facing extinction.

Sometimes, they intervene by pass poaching regulations, cross/selective
breeding, etc and sometimes they let nature takes it course simply because
there is nothing that can be done. The Ice Caps, native habitat to the Polar
Bear, are melting. They the Polar cannot exist in the wild anywhere else on
Earth. I was watching a special on the nature channel that basically
concluded, Polar Bears are facing total extinction within the next 100 years.

What or who is to say that ETs do not have similar objectives. That they are
simply monitoring us as a species in the ways human scientists do with animals.
Its a 24/7 job taking place, from the deepest rain forests and tropics to the
Antarctic. I know, its a rather disheartening, dastardly idea, that humans, to
the ET's, could be nothing more than an interest or curiosity. That what we
ourselves do to animals that we consider to be lower, less intelligent life
forms on planet earth, ET's are doing with us.

Then again, when a species disappears or is threatened with extinction, the
eco system as a whole, and our lives, are affected. To some extent, seriously.
With profound consequences. The Honey Bee is a great example. It could also
be that if humans do become extinct, be it from their own stupid foolishness
and folly, ie. war/weapons of mass destruction, Somehow, the ET's existence
will be greatly affected as well. As the honey bee is a totality of Earths
microcosm, so are humans to the health and well being of the Galaxy, or
Universe.

Perhaps, certain ET's have a vested interest in our survival. Perhaps, among
them or their species, there are poachers?

BT stands for Bacillus thuringiensis so it is a bacteria and not any bug
juices. BT works by paralyzing caterpillars guts so they stop eating and die.

Now, bug juices purpose is to kill the bugs with their own viruses and/or
bacterial diseases that they carry. Every living thing is carrying their own
germs. This is completely different approach than BT. And yes, the bug juice
AND BT were popularized by "Organic Gardening" a magazine published by Rodale.

Barbara

  Oh my,
That was an old Rodale publications hint for destroying garden pests: To rid
an infestation of say, japanese beetles, collect a quantity by picking and
blend them in water.
Spray the suffering crop with a diluted solution.

The underlying theory being, a pest carries its own parasites that can be

I know this was for Wayne but I just want to comment on this one issue.

I drink raw milk for several years and I kept it for 25 days and even after
that time the milk is still as sweet and fresh as it was on the first day. If
your milk goes sour so quickly that means it is an old milk already when you
buy it. Try to get your milk from somewhere else and let them know why you
will not be buing it any more.

Barbara

Raw milk is hard because it comes in such big bottles and it goes bad
quickly so it never gets finished before it gets sour.

Lions and all cats large and small do not even eat an empty stomach! They
neatly cut the stomach out of the prey body and take it aside. They are more
fussy than wolves.

The pride leader is a female, not a male. The males' reign is usually short
lived, two or three years and are then replaced by the younger males. The
females in the pride are all related and the female cubs never leave the pride.

Barbara

I suspect it came from the Animal Planet shows about lions and large cats,
who do prefer the stomach and contents. The entrals included. the pride
leader (usually grandpa) gets first shot at the entrals...

Re: CS>Maximizing Dog Health.....Minimizing cost

2007-08-10 Thread Barbara
If I could have my way, I would ORDER everyone to feed the dogs, cats and
ferrets with the diet that is appropriate for carnivores that they are. That's
how sure I am of what is a best nutrition for them. Yes, we all are animals and
we all had to pass (or fail in the case of extinctions) the trial of time and
evolution. I'm sure you know that nature is the harshest critic of the
species. Since the wolves survived for 1.5 million years, they must be getting
perfect nutrition, don't you think? Dogs are subspecies of the wolf, they are
Canis lupus familiaris. Their perfect nutrition is 80% meat, 10% bones and 10%
organ meats. That's all they need to be optimally fed.

Vets have all but few hours of training about nutrition that is done by Hill's
Foods representative. Do you think that they know anything about dogs'
nutrition?

This is also the last post of mine on that matter.

Barbara

Do you realize you have just accused me of abusing my dear beloved pet, just
because I have come to a different conclusion than you have on the subject of
feeding?

If you have intentially done this, knowing I am not about to change my
mind or opinion on the subject, then you are guilty of knowingly
hurting the feelings of one of those same dear ones that you are trying
to protect. Are we not all animals? Are we not only the older brothers
and sisters of the animal kingdom?

As far as the subject goes, don't you think it is possible that you
don't have all the information on the subject? There are many things
that Man does not know, can not know. We can't follow all the canines in the
world around to see what they eat. There are many good reasons to feed dogs a
vegetarian diet. The vets I have consulted on this have rendered their decision
that my dog is well fed and healthy, and complimented me on my dog's coat and
health before they had a clue what I fed her. They said, "whatever it is, keep
it up, it's working for her."

I would appreciate it if you would not attack me personally. That is
  definitely abuse.

Dee has said that this subject might be better left alone (thanks for
the reminder), and that reminds me that Mike asked us once before to
drop it from the list. So that is what I am going to do.

2007-08-10 Thread Barbara
It is well documented by Dr. David Mech who studied wolves for decades.

Barbara

Actually, I argued this on another list but apparently it is not the case.
Wolves and wild dogs leave the stomach behind when they eat a carcass and
this is apparently well documented, but where I don't know. Kay on the
silverpets list has all the info on this. I think dogs would naturally eat
raw meat, but may occasionally eat vegetable matter for whatever reason, but
I don't think it would be their food of choice. However, people will never
agree on this subject so its best left alone I think. Dee

Re: CS>Maximizing Dog Health.....Minimizing cost

2007-08-10 Thread Barbara
Contrary to the popular belief, wolves do not eat the contents of the large
prey's stomachs. And dogs are subspecies of wolves.

According to Dr. David Mech who spent several decades studying wolves and is
world authority on them, they open the stomach, shake the contents out and eat
just the stomach itself. I read all the books by Dr. Mech and he gave several
accounts how they eat their prey. I don't know where that notion of eating the
stomach contents came from but certainly not from Dr. Mech. Wolves also do not
eat small rodents unless starving, but that would be the only instance that
they would eat a stomach contents.

Barbara

  The page at http://dogsobediencetraining.com/info/learn_dog_wiki.htm
makes a good point. Although canines are carnivores, in the wild they
get a good bit of vegetable matter because they would eat the contents
of the stomach of their prey. If fed only meat, then they are not
getting this which would normally been a natural part of their diet.
Thus to duplicate what they would have gotten in the wild, they should
also be fed prechewed vegetable matter which is similar to what their
  prey would have normally eaten.

carnivores. In a perfect world those who do as you do and feed a vegan diet to
dogs would be charged with animal cruelty. Dogs do use plants as medicines so
I don't question their ability to benefit from a particular plant. How sad

Your dog is not a vegan, your dog is being forced to be a vegan. Your dog just
like my dogs is a carnivore. Unfortunately for your dog it is at your mercy.
Would you feed a horse steaks and red meat? To deprive the dog of the proper
diet is just as bad as forcing a horse or a cow to eat meat.

Barbara

I take issue with this, as my dog and many I know are vegan, and do very well
on the diet, which includes some raw veges.

Dogs seem to be like people in that they can adapt to a their
  environment to a great degree.

Hi Brooks,

I agree with what you said but also want to point out that there is nothing in
the plant matter that the dogs can not get in meat, bones and organs. Meat,
bones and organ meats are the complete nutrition that dogs need to thrive.

Barbara

  Hello Barbara,
Your observations about carbohydrate requirements are quite well taken.
However, without being confrontational, one point might be of value to list
members..while canines are carnivores, unlike felines they are not obligate
carnivores. That is, many do exhibit the ability to partially digest various
forms of carbohydratesincluding forms of unprocessed vegetative matter. I
state this not to be argumentive, but to NOT encourage persons feeding their
dogs certain vegetable forms..to cease just because dogs can do well
without them. The reason being that this ability to extract useful portions of
beneficial juice-borne compounds from certain classes of vegetative
matter-has demonstrated to be vital in some health cases. This condition
stands as useful quite beyond nutritional considerations.especially
considering possible pathogenic, parasitic and toxic insults. Lacking this
ability, it would be fruitless to give them substances similar! to kelp meal.
Thank you for your commentary. Brooks.

I have four Chihuahuas and I feed 100% raw diet since 1998.
Your adding the real food to your dogs diet is great but I will say that adding
cooked oatmeal is not necessary because they already have the carbs in kibble.
Dogs being carnivores have no need for carbohydrates at all.

Libby's story is a great example what good diet can do to get rid of cancer.
You didn't say if Libby gets her chicken in addition to her kibble or is she
eating it as her only food. Either way it is a great triumph and a testimony
for the REAL foods.

Barbara

Our present, daily diet, regimen includes: 1.25 cups of a 38% meat product
dry food, 1.5 cups of 70/30 raw milk/homogenized mix, 1/2 cup cooked oatmeal,
7-to-8 oz raw chicken quarter, 1/4 cup whole fish (canned product), one large
dry dog biscuit, one tablespoon marine kelp, one tablespoon 5 ppm CS, 1
teaspoon brewers yeast, one One-a-Day type
vitamin pill (crushed). All of the dogs are in peak health and look like
slick seals.
Our vet bills have diminished from around $3000.00 per year circa 2000
A.D..to
essentially, nothing in 2007-primarily (we believe) because of their

Thank you for sharing, Ruth :) Looks like it is much more fiber than Benefiber
which you have to take two teaspoons to get 3g of fiber. I will look for that

Hi, Barbara, I found Fiber-sure a Clear-Mixing Fiber Supplement. sugar free,
25 calories per 1 tsp . serving, can be taken 3 times a day. The tsp. should be
heaping. Total carbs 6 grams, Dietary fiber 5 grams, Soluble fiber 5 grams.
That is in each heaping teaspoon or each dose. If you take it 3 times a day,
you would get 15 grams of fiber.Flavor free, grit free, non-thickening. Active
ingredients: Inulin, natural vegetable fiber.
Distributed by Proctor and Gamble, Made in Belgium. www.fibersure.com. Mix
with room temperature liquid or mashed vegetables, etc. The Inulin thing struck
me in a positive way due to other posts on Eskimo.com about its value. They
suggested starting with once a day and working up, but since we have been using
fiber for longer, not sure if that would be necessary, still
this product does have alot of fiber per dose. Glad to share. Ruth
P.S. I haven't tried it yet. Am using up my unifiber which is also

  Benefiber Change

As of July 2006, Benefiber has announced that all of their products will no
longer contain partially hydrolized guar gum. Benefiber will now be made from
wheat dextrin. According to a phone representative at Novartis, the makers of
Benefiber, this decision was made to allow for smaller dosages and for a higher
profit margin. Benefiber guar gum provided 3 grams of soluble fiber per
tablespoon, whereas Benefiber wheat dextrin provides 1.5 grams of soluble fiber
per teaspoon (there are three teaspoons in one tablespoon).

I do not know how wheat dextrin compares to guar gum as a soluble fiber
supplement for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I would not assume that the wheat
dextrin in Benefiber is safe for people with wheat allergies or gluten
intolerance disorders such as celiac.

Eliminates all the flour products whose value has been compromised by
manufacturers. But this would possibly be a better choice than the current
ones I have tried. Actually no bulk producing product has ever given me

Thank you sol for that post. I felt like I'm the only one here who knows the
dangers of soy. You are so right that it is very hard to avoid it but by using
only whole foods and nothing processed we can do it. Soy should not be
consumed by any living thing.

Barbara

Heat and processing alone does not render soy truly safe. It takes
fermentation to rid it of some of its anti-nutrients. And in any case I
don't think processing removes or inactivates the phytoestrogens, which
are problematic as well as the anti-nutrients.
There is a big difference in consuming small amounts of fermented soy
products, and the extremely heavy consumption we now suffer. Soy is
difficult to avoid, and becomes more ubitquitous in processed foods all
the time. Soy interferes with mineral metabolism and vitamin metabolism
and the phytoestrogens mess up one's endocrine system.
It is difficult even to find a real fermented soy sauce these days, even
  though labels claim otherwise.
I am solidly in the camp of the Weston Price folks on soy.

CS>Fw: WAPF Info Alert: Mandatory Almond Pasteurization

2007-03-24 Thread Barbara

MANDATORY ALMOND PASTEURIZATION

All Almonds will be Pasteurized starting 2007!

No label allowing "truly raw almonds"

Almonds labeled as "Raw Almonds" will still have been pasteurized!

A big lie and fraud!! You are about to be denied your food freedom choices!

Didyou know that starting in the fall of 2007, truly raw almonds will notbe
available in the USA or Canada? See link below for thepasteurization plan.

http://www.almondboard.com/Programs/content.cfm?ItemNumber=890&snItemNumber=450

The FDA, USDA and the California Almond Board has developed a marketing order
which mandates that all almonds must be pasteurized. This came about because "
two outbreaks of salmonella, associated with conventional farms several years
ago". Industry has now overreacted in grand fashion and they do not even know
it yet.

No outbreaks have been associated with raw organic almonds to date that we are
aware of.

This has everything to do with lack of biodiversity and the sterile farming
methods used on conventional farms. On these farms few weeds or grasses grow on
the floors and little sunlight reaches the floors. To the contrary, Organic
farms support and encourage biodiversity with green floors in the orchards and
this discourages pathogen growth. Unfortunately, organic almonds are shelled
and bagged on the sameproduction facilities as conventional and are being
subjected to the same rules.

There is an even bigger issue. The FDA has decided not to tell the consumer the
truth about this processing step. The almonds you will buy in Wholefoods this
fall may still say "raw almonds but they will have been subjected to high heat
and a five log kill step...that they are calling Pasteurization". This lie is
being permitted by the marketing order!!

The FDA in association with the USDA and the Almond Board is in fact denying
you the information required to make informed choices when you buy food. You
will not be able to identify a pasteurized almond from a truly raw whole,
enzyme rich, unprocessed almond.

The almond board claims that the almonds will still sprout ( still some life in
them ) and that the flavor does not change. But yet no research has been
performed to see what kind of opportunistic bacteria will take over when the
almond has been sterilized. It is not a whole natural food anymore. It will now
be a processed food. Millions of dollars are being invested to install
expensive pasteurization machines in all Almond plants in order to follow this
"sterile foods are better foods edict".

Demand that your source of organic raw almonds be exempted from this short
sighted food safety debacle.

Demand that a label be permitted that identifies "truly raw almonds" and if
required even put a warning label on them. Also demand that pasteurized almonds
be identified as well. It seems that every time a government warning is applied
to a food, that in itself becomes a certification that that is the food you
should eat.

It is very clear that the FDA does not understand the origins of the massive
immunedepression epidemic in America. A sterilized diet makes for a weakened
immune system. FDA website http://www.fda.gov/fdac/features/795_antibio.html
explains antibiotic resistance quite well, but ignorantly and blindly never
mentions pro-biotics which prevent disease and infections. Whole unprocessed
living foods are in this category of foods.

Weakened immune systems are associated directly with cancer, osteoporosis,
asthma, allergies, Crohns, IBS, Colitis, GERD, chronic disease, infections,
antibiotic use and resistance and human death, ulcers and the list goes on and
on.

Raw almonds are a wonder food just as they are. Let consumers make the informed
choice and be responsible for the consequences.

The almond farmers do not even know what they have been led into by theFDA.
This consumer choice option will surely increase almond sales.

Denial of a choice will be a marketing disaster.

Freedom is lost gradually... bit by bit and bite by bite... with the great
assistance of passive unconscious in activism and sheepish.

You are conscious and aware of this path. Lets fight today and send a message.
We must have unprocessed food choices.

These are the people to contactplease fax, call or email them and demand:
1. A true almond label that states clearly that " almonds have been pasteurized"
2. A second consumer choice label that warns that the "almonds are raw and
unprocessed".
3.That you will not tolerate the pasteurization of your almonds and having them
still labeled as a "raw almond". That this is a fraud and a lie.
4. Tell them that the proposed marketing order denies consumers of freedom to
identify and choose whole unprocessed foods.

Re: CS>Cat Story

2007-03-05 Thread Barbara
Del, if you want your cat to improve even more, put her on raw diet or if she
would not eat raw meat, she may like canned food, all meat, without grains and
vegetable matter.
The only reason for her kidney disease are grains in her cat food. Grains are
killing an obligate carnivore like a cat.

Barbara

Several years ago my cat was diagnosed with kidney disease.
Her symptoms were a high water intake, lots of urinating in the litter, fairly
frequent vomiting and hard as rock (and apparently painful) stools.
After discussing her with a local homeopathic vet, I stopped all shots,
vaccines, and tick and flea repellents.
We put her on some recommended homeopathic remedies and she seemed to improve
for a few years.
About two years ago when she was 12 years old she started looking listless and
would not eat, so I took her to a local animal hospital who diagnosed her with
a kidney infection. This immediately followed having the interior of our house
painted, so I think the environmental pollution got to her.
They recommended an antibiotic which I did give to her. However, she did not
improve. Her temperature soared to 107 over the next couple of days and on
several occasions I thought she might have died because she was completely
unresponsive when I tried to wake her.
She would not drink or eat, so I started giving her CS in a dropper. She would
choke on it, but some went down, and I continued this every hour until she was
getting more and more CS. Eventually she started to move again and would then
drink CS from a bowl, so we were able to discontinue the droppers.
Within a week from the initial attack, she was on the road to recovery,
although a return to normality took about two more weeks.
The vet told me that cats with kidney disease are more prone to kidney
infections, so from then on I have given her only CS to drink. And she drinks
a HUGE amount of it, I would say at least 10 to 12 ounces a day, sometimes
more, seldom less. Since she only weighs nine pounds, this equates to roughly
seven percent of her body weight. If a 155 LB human drank an equivalent
amount, he or she would be drinking about 10 LBS of CS per day, or about 5
quarts. The absolute amount that she drinks is about the same as what I take,
but the amount per lb of body weight is much, much greater.
She has been doing this for two years now and, although she is showing signs of
age, she has remained healthy, alert, and without any sign of kidney infection.
A human drinking so much CS would be concerned about argyria, but since she is
covered with black fur, this is not a concern (do humans with dark skin worry
about argyria?). I initially worried about her drinking so much CS since it is
off the charts of what people normally take, but it seems only to have done her
a lot of good. I know that age and kidney disease will claim her eventually,
but I think she is a testament to the beneficial effects of CS usage and proves
that it has little if any toxicity even in very large doses.

Re: CS>Making Kefir

2006-11-30 Thread Barbara
Terry, there is a wonderful site for kefir and this is the link:

http://users.chariot.net.au/~dna/kefirpage.html

Kefir grains traditionally should not be sold only shared but there are people
who do sell them. Dom on his site will also tell you how to make kefir out of
water or fruit juices. He ships to most everywhere.

I do have extra grains and would ship them to you but they are in milk so not
good for water kefir. There are also groups discussing kefir but I do not
belong to any of them. Members do give the grains just for shipping charges.

Barbara

Barbara, how would a person in Canada acquire kefir
grains? Also, how would one make good kefir without
using milk?

Thanks for any suggestions,

Terry Chamberlin

Re: CS>Duncan on kefir -Ruth

2006-11-29 Thread Barbara
Hi Ruth,

I'm making kefir every day and here is the way I do it.

In a 10 oz. glass put two tablespoons of grains, pour milk straight from the
fridge, stir and set it in a cupboard or on the counter. 24 hours later you
have finished kefir. Use plastic sieve to fish the grains out and put them in
a glass cup. Pour milk from the fridge, stir...you know what I mean...do
it all over again. That is it. It is very simple.

I have kefir smoothie every morning. I put raw egg in the kefir and eight
drops of stevia sweetener and stir vigorously. It is delicious :)
If you have more questions, I will be happy to answer them :)

Barbara

PS. In the summer time when the temperatures are higher, 12 hours is enough to
make good kefir.

Hi,. Day Sutton, I have printed out the Dom information, but find the
directions confusing. Their directions say to use 1/4 tsp. of kefir
(grains) as a starter. My daughter sent me about half a cup ofclumpy ,
rather "rubbery" stuff with which she makes her kefir. I am wondering how a
person can tell if what you have made is really kefir, or if it is just
clabbered milk? Does one have to use a plastic sieve? My first result was
separated stuff. The second time around a sort of creamy like liquid.
Neither one sounded like the description Dom gives of stuff that is set
enough so it doesn't really move around much in the bottom of the glass
bowl. I have found a place where I can get unpasteurized goat's milk.
Perhaps it would help if you would tell me exactly how you make yours. Ruth
P.S. I am using store milk at present. At one place in the information, it
sounded like you have to warm the milk and test it and the grains with a
cooking thermometer. There were several other questions I have which I
can't think of right now. Ruth

Well, I will try it again. I never tried on damp hands. Thank you... :)

Barbara

Well, yes, I know what you mean. For me, its worth the little inconvience you
mention. What I like about the oils vs. the creams is that the more oily
substances like CO and Shea act as a barrier as well while the creams are
absorbed. When hands get wet or exposed to elements they tend to dry out more.
The oil acts as a healing and protective coating.

Putting smaller amounts of oil on damp hands will cut the drying time some.

Carol Ann,

I do have centrifuged, unprocessed coconut oil and eat it every day. I tried
to use it on my skin including my hands but it is so oily until it absorbs that
I can't touch anything for a while. That's why I'm back with hand cream. I
suspect that Shea butter will be just like coconut oil.

Barbara

Hi Barbara,
If you want to make your own and be sure that there are no drying chemicals or
agents of agitation, buy pure Shea Butter, melt it in a double boiler and add
a little Myrrh and Lavender Essential Oil. If you can find some good
unprocessed Coconut Oil, it will also work beautifully. Alone it holds
wonderful healing properties but the addition of a few drops of essential
oils only enhances its quality.

My hands are so dry that I can not live without hand cream. I wonder if the

people have to buy it all the time. I'm not septic but I'm a skeptic...

Buy a hand lotion with 10% urea and aloe. It will amaze you.

Re: CS>dogs and ear mites or flea bites and CS?

2006-09-19 Thread Barbara
Wendy, dogs are carnivores and they have no nutritional need for carbohydrates.
None. Are you feeding about 10% of organ meats? This is very important.
Weight wise they need 10% bone, 10% organ meats and 80% of muscle meat and if
you are feeding diary, then cottage cheese, yogurt, kefir and eggs.

Of course diet is the root
cause of any of this and we've been lazy and they've not been getting
their veggies and oils much the last couple months with their raw meat
and bones.

carnivores and they can not digest the grains that are the main ingredients if
cat food. They can not digest any plant matter. Raw fed cats are very healthy
and have no reasons to visit the vets. If you would like to learn more just

I feed my 5 dogs raw since 1998 and 2 cats are 2 years old and fed raw since

NITROGLYCERINE patches are suggested to treat brown recluse bites, not

Now, I want to tell everyone that my friend's house is literally INFESTED with
the Brown Recluse spiders. Yesterday, they hunted, found and killed 8 of
them!!! :((( Plus 2 egg cases! They are scared to fall asleep so they take
turns sleeping while one person is watching over the sleeping ones :( They all
are nervous wrecks!
She looked on the net but all she learned is that nothing much kills those
things. Is that true? I told her to call an exterminator, was I right?

Barbara

I think actually I got it wrong. It should be Nitroglycerin. Of the two,
the correct one is a vasodilator. The venom causes extreme contraction of the
vessles to keep the enzyme in place.

You are wrong about the electrical treatment. There are many well documented
protocols on the web using electricity to destroy the venom.

Thank you Dan. The summarizing definitely helps to organize one's thoughts.
So far she is leaning towards nitroglycerin patch. It seems to do the job
quite well.

Barbara

  Barbara,

There are four methods generally that are being talked about here.
Each takes a different approach to treat the bite.

  1. Kill any bacteria etc that are injected by the spider.
  - Use colloidal silver or antibiotics.

  2. Draw out any poison from the bite area.
  - Use charcoal pack, clay pack, or something similar.

  3. Counteract the action of the poison.
  - Use nicotine patch.

  4. Neutralize the poison.
  - Use heat, or high voltage (low current) shock like
a stun gun or a spark from a car or lawnmower.

  Hope this makes things clearer.

personal units, frequently home-made, that people use on themselves. It would

Thank you Nancy for your story. I will forward it to my friend :)

Barbara

I had 2 Black Widow spider bites. I put meat tenderizer (papain, bromelain
in meat tenderizer break down protein and bee venom and I presume spider venom
is made of protein also) one the first one. In absence of meat tenderizer I
have used digestive enzymes or fresh pineapple, papaya, or kiwi fruit.

The bite I put meat tenderizer on immediately did not react at all to the
venom- no necrotizing tissue or inflammation at all. I did get a general
reaction of nausea and stomach cramps. The second bite I didn't recognize as a
bite at the time. The next day it started to necrotize and my leg swelled up
and turned red. In an inflammatory situation Vitamin C in large quantities
should help. I was given an antibiotic and after a couple of days the swelling
went away, after a lot of prayer and healing scripture confessions. Perhaps
soaking in epsom salts would also be beneficial because that helped my daughter
after she had swelling and inflammation from a pencil lead being rammed into
her foot.

I'm only assuming Black Widow spider venom and Brown Recluse venom are
similar.

Natural don't matter. Most doctors do nothing but Antibiotics. That is
why I never went to a doctor about 3 or 4 years ago when I had the same bite.

 An onion poultice works.

The best treatment is a Stun Gun, period. Get one and destroy the venom.

Search the internet. The University of OK has all the data on the stunn
gun but I think they give it only to doctors.

These bites can get serious or they can be zapped in short order.

2006-05-18 Thread Barbara
Thank you Dan, I forwarded your message to my friend.

I saw an article on the web recently but can't remember where or find it
again.

The idea was that the spider poison constricts the blood vessels in the
area and causes tissue death because it can't get any blood. Nicotine
dilates blood vessels so it counteracts the effect of the poison on the
blood vessels and allows it to be moved out of the area.

A nicotine patch (one that has nicotine evenly dispersed across the
patch) is cut to be just larger than the bite, including the area that
is being affected by the poison and applied over the bite. You could
have it monitored by a doctor if it is a child and you don't want to get
too much nicotine exposure. I would think that any doctor would be
  receptive to this approach.
