Re: 3.0.9.1 Deep Alpha is now available

2005-02-28 Thread Miroslav Florensen
Hello Richard,

I've loaded my alternate Glyph set from the previous TB! but it won't
show it's own folder or address book glyphs. I've tried renaming
GlyphsCollection and HTMLEditorCollection but still no use.

the XML support still isn't implemented completely at the moment.

To also exchange the missing folder symbols, TheBat! still needs the
batskin.ini in the working directory. I have adapted the XML file and
the INI file for my Minimal Design Glyph - it works as expected.

I then opened my own Icon set in Paint shop Pro again and exported it as

When TB is sent to tray and is running idle, rightclicking on it

Can't confirm although there are times when it does/doesn't do something
for no apparent reason and then it works fine this morning. Earlier on I
tried to send a message direct but clicking on the send button in the
Message Edit box did nothing, I had to put it in the outbox before it
would send. This has not happened before or since with this Alpha.

Alpha.
MC (Says so in the Subject line.)

And this IS a BETA list,(says so in the address). Truth is I was being fair,
they ask for input, I'm giving it. It's hard to rave about something that is so
 deeply flawed.

Surely all these bugs we're finding must have been the same for the developers.
The basic fundamental things like icons and spell checker, missing menus and
blank menu items and yet they still released it to us. They've put their self
in the firing line by releasing such a flawed version even if it is an Alpha.

Sorry but the word Wow just doesn't spring to mind at the moment.

To start with, I do not see the menu labels. I see the shortcuts, but
not the label themselves.

For example, under the Account menu, instead of:

Properties Shift+Ctrl+P

I see:

Of course, I am not sure I am looking at the Account menu, the head

To start with, I do not see the menu labels. I see the shortcuts, but
 not the label themselves.

I just added the recently posted batskin.xml and things do look a
little different, but still no menu labels in main window. In the editor
window I do see the menu labels though. Didn't try this before adding
batskin.xml so I can't tell whether that is needed or not, but I
suppose it's not related since I still does not see the menu labels in
the main window.

Just rest your mousecursor for a second on an icon and you'll get text.

One thing that I think is odd is the fact that I drag all of the icon groups

Try running it direct from the main directory.

My signature does not reveal what?

But for the purposes of this Deep Space 9 version I'm running it from my XP

Is anyone else having trouble getting rid of the Config and Quick search tool
bars? The only way I can get rid of them is to float them and then click the x
in the normal way. Rebooting TB! brings the bloody things back again!

Menu labels, not icon text. The bit's that say Message, Specials, Account,

 Yup, same as mine.

Well I just tried to cut something from your post and paste it here as a
quotation but right click does not work at all.

Never have I had to revert back to a lesser version, there have never been any
bugs that effected me that much, this may be a first.

With all due respect to the boys at RITLABS but the time span between the last
beta and this should have produced more than a virtually non useable version.

I'll stick with it for a day or so just to confirm or refute and more bugs,
after all, that's what we're here for. It is very disappointing though after
 such a long wait.

You know we are talking big changes here? And besides, this isn't a
beta, it's an alpha. Usually they don't even release alphas. I really
don't think it's fair of you to complain about the usability of a alpha.

But that's a discussion we have had many times, probably I shouldn't

Re: 3.0.9.1 Deep Alpha is now available

2005-02-21 Thread Richard Wakeford
Hello Stefan,

Installed into a brand new folder and I was well impressed that it
picked up all the TB! settings from the older version, filters, QTs and
directory destinations too. Here are some problems that have instantly
come to light for me :

The bottom icons in the micro-ed don't work.

Thread columns don't expand to the right as threads grow.

The message folder pane sizes don't stick, need resizing after each re
start.

Toolbars don't stay as put (and I've followed the message about editing
mainform.def)

Enter no longer moves to next unread message but brings up a seperate
message box instead. In fact I've not yet worked out how to get to the
next unread without recourse to the mouse!

I've loaded my alternate Glyph set from the previous TB! but it won't
show it's own folder or address book glyphs. I've tried renaming
GlyphsCollection and HTMLEditorCollection but still no use.

I can wait too.I've tried it for 5 minutes and decided to go back to the
3.02.10 version. I prefer to wait for a more stable Beta version and leave
this Alpha version to the developers and all the others who were desperately
screaming for a new Beta version recently...;-)

I'll echo Alexander and Dick. I can wait too. But I would point out to
Dick that there is a huge difference between alpha testing and beta
testing. I signed on as a beta tester. I don't have the time or the
inclination to do alpha testing. I was pleased with the announcement
that the next beta would be released with no (or at least minimum
number) of known issues. It seems now that 9Val's estimate of at
least one week for delivery time to that beta was somewhat... well,
let's not go there.

I think that the number of messages added to this TBBETA list will go through
the roof in a few hours..

Probably so. Perhaps a new list should be started for those
messages... maybe TBALPHA.

Well, I don't have that option set (couldn't find it though), but over
here it expands a little.

RW :-(

You can find them in the shortcut.cfg file in your mail directory.
When I try to use my only self defined shortcut, it doesn't work.
Close TB and start an older version and it works, so the file isn't
corrupted...

ST It's an Alpha, so please be aware of the numerous bugs and omissions -
ST please feel free to mention them here or at the BT.

I must say that the DBCS support of the windows editor of this build is still
broken. v3.0.1.33 is the last build which support DBCS well.
