Filter question (MyGate)
Hi Bat! Fans, Using MyGate to download upload from /to news groups, just a filter question. I am subscribing to news groups aus.comms and aus.comms.mobile. If a message is cross posted to both of these news groups, it is sorted, with my current filters to both news groups, causing dupes. In other words, I am receiving in both of the above news groups the original message destined for the news group, plus the original. The filter for aus.comms is as follows: Move to inbox aus\.comms[|,|\n] Location Recipient Presence Yes Options continue processing with other filters; Regular expressions Filter for aus.comms.mobile is similar except for aus\.comms\.mobile[|,|\n] as Recipient. Filters set up basically as advised in this list by Michael from Spain. Can anyone see problems with above? This is what I understood you to be saying. P The problem of TB! adopting as much as it does from the windows P 'appearance' settings is that TB! also adopts the limitations of P windows ability to customize colors. Exactly!! P Even at the closest I could get trying to make TB! white on black, P windows looked awful in those areas where black on white is P preferred (among other windows areas) and TB! still look bad in a P few critical areas. I understand. A For the message list go to Messages/Colour Groups and Fonts, also A in the preferences. At the bottom of that section is 'Font' with A a 'Change' button. MB Yes, I did that. Thanks for putting it so clearly here. P Clearly put but doesn't make the text look Yes, for you, I know it's true. A I agree that the address book list fonts should be made A configurable. MB I may put just that on the Wish List, then. P I suggest trying to re-color TB! white text on black before P limiting the wish to simply the AB. TB! falls short in much more P than AB display configuration options. Or more simply, try making P the account panel white on black.. This is not my preference--I prefer a light background with a dark, contrasting text, in addition to relatively large font sizes everywhere. But I have just been to the various settings menus, and XP is able to do this according to your preferences, except in the AB and in a few other dialogue boxes, where my own difficulty is not with colors but with font size. P According to MAU W2K help show the TB! color limitations, maybe XP P also then? XP has been hard for me to learn, and its arbitrary folder organization paths and complex Search function would not have been my choice. I was in Win95 before my monitor died and I realized that my hard drive was also way too small for my needs and got this new computer. I was really comfortable in Win95, and just sort of making do with TB! v. 161, putting up with its lack of legibility on my screen for the sake of the safety features. Now that I know what can be done, I want it all! And I want that for you, too. I don't think you should have to change your operating system just so you can control the color display in The Bat! I put my Wish for better control of the Address Book on Bugtraq this morning. Bugtraq would not give me a window to express it as a wish, even though I clicked the Switch button. So I wrote it up as a Bug, which in a way, it is. And so is this color-control glitch of yours! Regarding group templates
Hello all, ok. After the recent thread about using addressbook (and -group) templates, I changed my TB lists to that behaviour. But: 1. it would be very good to have an identity tab for each address book entry (as with the folders), which will be used when sending to that recipient/list! Now I have to write the new message in the according folder anyway, as it wouldn't use the address for that list. And having a template for each TB list, instead of a group is not that comfortable. 2. The Known filter in sorting office now filters the mails from the TB lists into Inbox - Known, as it stands upon the lists filters. But this should not happen, because the lists_tb group isn't checked in the Known filter's settings. Looks like a bug! -- shinE! I thought that issue was resolved in that TB! doesn't go ahead and delete messages which were not downloaded but instead merely an announcement message. This will work though I thought it wasn't necessary anymore: Set the account to leave messages on the server and to download only the headers of messages beyond 2MB in size. Now open the sorting offices filters and create an incoming filter that will catch the large message notification. I've not seen one of those notifications in a while but I think the message is from 'The Bat!' so you can have it filter on 'Sender' being 'The Bat!'. Put this filter at the very top of the filter list. The next filter will be one that matches all messages. You can therefore define the string 'e' with Kludges being the source. For the filter action, enable 'delete message from server'. Very importantly, also enable the option to 'continue processing with other filters'. What these two filters do is to catch the large message notification messages and put them aside so that the original message isn't marked for deletion by the second filter. The second filter marks all other messages for deletion and passes them on to be filtered as usual by your other filters. Each time you do a POP check, the messages previously marked for deletion by this filter will be deleted from the server. running from a BAT file
I saw a tip of the day (BTW, do those ever get updated? I've not seen each one even once yet but it'd be nice to be able to add more daily tips after a while, wouldn't it?) Anyway, I saw a tip of the day explaining command startup switch /nologo. How can I set the (win 98se) shortcut properties to include this switch? Hi Deborah Saturday, October 4, 2003, 5:24:51 PM, you wrote: DW Marck has already explained why this does not work, earlier in this thread. I didn't see that. DW Only text which falls below the last cut-mark inserted will be stripped, DW which means that if you have a cutmark, followed by a signature, followed by DW a listserv footer which also contains a cut-mark, the signature inserted by DW the sender will not be stripped. Ah. Interesting..I didn't know that. I agree then, people should use a cut-mark. DW I really have trouble understanding why this is such an issue. Not to me it isn't..I already use one as you'll see. I thought including it in the listserv footer might help matters, but apparently it won't. DW It's so simple to insert a cutmark, it can even be automated using DW templates. I really don't understand why people are objecting to being asked DW to use a cutmark. Some people don't feel that simply a name is a signature. And that asking them to change just so that others can avoid having to delete that one word while replying is asking too much. That's open to debate, but personally, if you consider that your name is already in the sender field, including it in the message body above the cutmark doesn't really add anything to your message. Therefore it could be considered a signature even if it isn't included along with anything else, and should be below the cutmark. Re:Auto responde to mail with an attachment with a large size
Hi DG, On 05 October 2003 at 23:04:25GMT +0100, DG Raftery Sr. sent an E-Mail mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] on the subject of Auto responde to mail with an attachment with a large size: DRS Allie Martin and myself discussed this issue this morning in regards DRS to NOD32, functioning at the Winsock level, to scan incoming mail for DRS virus and his results are the same. CPU and VM usage climb and climb DRS the longer The_Bat! runs. Try turning off NOD32's e-mail scan function DRS and just utilize the program's active scan function. As an active scan DRS function is operational at open and close of files it should afford DRS you the same protection against infection. Thanks. I may try that. It seems to be only large messages [certainly greater than 3MB], in 99% of circumstances these come from my work account so I can 'avoid' them... it is unfortunate though! -- Regards, Simon Fincham Using The Bat: Version 2.00.22 on Windows XP Pro SP1 Build 2600 SPAM Detection:BayesIt! 0.4fm Current version is 2.00.6 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
