Actually - looking again, it's a mess!! I see messages in the list that TB says are from me but, when I click on them, I see Maria or Roelof are the actual senders in the From address on TBOT. I see a transition in another list over the new year. A late December message shows the "From" in an almost correct manner while a message from the same individual in the same format with very similar headers is just showing the list address as the "From". There are limits to the size of permitted attachments. 25k on TBUDL and 75k on TBBETA. If your screen-shot is small enough, attach it by all means. You can even chance it. At the time of writing HTML formatting had apparently been fixed in the latest versions. The BugTraq report has even been closed. A If I create a mail message that I want to go to all 100 contacts in a A group, what do I do to easily accomplish that? You create your entire message as a Mass Mailing Template. These are Quick templates, created in the Quick Template editor that have the Mass Mailing Template checkbox ticked. The template will include the macros for attribution and manipulation of the To field as well as the entire body of the message you wish to send. You can get very clever by using other fields of the address book to conditionally add or remove whole paragraphs, but that means getting fairly sophisticated. A The only way I know to get a mail message to automatically go to A everyone in the group is to open up the address book, highlight the A group and then click on new message. The group handle will appear A in the to field followed by list There is another way. In the Address book, highlight the group then, from the Address book menu choose File - New - Mass Mailing using Template. This will give you all the options you need to generate individual emails to every member of the chosen group (or the currently selected subset of specific entries) using the template you wrote your mass mailing message template in. A I tried to place %ABtoHANDLE %TOADDR in the to field, but that A yielded an error message: Yes - these are *template* macros. Re: Customer Service
Dear Geoff, @13-Mar-2012, 08:12 Geoff Lane [GL] in mid:1254644569.20120313081...@gjctech.co.uk said: Hmm... Maybe this is a better example of a put down: You are arrogant, self-centered and do not have a clue... This is meant to be constructive to help you to treat people with respect.~~~ GL Although you don't know me, you might well be correct. So I'll thank GL you for your comment and receive it with the spirit in which I infer GL it was meant. Actually - I think you may have missed the spirit completely. You have taken it as a personal comment when it was clearly and explicitly an example of a put down; informative to you as to what a *real* put down looks like. Now. To business. This list is a user to user peer support list. Sometimes people connected to RITlabs make comment here, but that is not relevant. Expert opinion is mostly what you get. Marek is a lively and useful contributor here; one of the experts whose opinion is valuable and should therefore be valued. Any opinion given here is given at the cost of personal free time - no reward is available. English is not Marek's first language and sometimes the words he may want to use to flowery up his approach may simply not be in his instant vocabulary. To seek to alienate him for what amounts to a hurried end of a reply, one in which he'd already been explicit and kind further up, is a clear personal attack AND WILL NOT BE TOLERATED ON THIS LIST. Back down please - all of you. This thread is wildly off topic and the next post on it will be moderated and the topic officially closed. ... snip -- Cheers -- Marck D Pearlstone -- List moderator and fellow end user TB! v5.0.36.2 on Windows 7 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 ' pgpd6StGfLwBu.pgp Description: PGP signature Current version is 4.2.42 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Dear Abigail, @10-Aug-2011, 21:49 -0700 (11-Aug 05:49:35 here) Abigail Marshall [AM] in mid:CAHOAKLbM=xkl3-tt6sfwinfkrcrsaczgczowhv73_x2p84w...@mail.gmail.com said: AM OK, now I'm really frustrated -- the problem is with TheBat creating AM unnecessary duplicates of attachments. ... snip AM Obviously this a a bug and not a feature. Not so. This is entirely predicted, predictable and required behaviour. AM So what is causing this If you have multiple messages that refer to the same attachment, each message MUST have its own copy of that attachment so that, when message A and attachments are deleted, message B still has its attached files available and intact. AM and what can I do to address this? Keep attachments in the message bodies. It doesn't change anything except that connected attachments are more obviously attributed to the message that owns them rather than giving a poor illusion of cascading duplication in an externalised attachment folder. -- Cheers -- Marck D Pearlstone -- List moderator and fellow end user TB! v5.0.22.7 (ALPHA) on Windows 7 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 ' pgpKAJysOQeug.pgp Description: PGP signature Current version is 4.2.42 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Re: is v.4.2.42 truncated urls in the body?
Dear David, @2-Apr-2011, 20:01 David Elliott [DE] in mid:24585208.20110402200...@elliott.uk.com said to CDIsxm: to all who tried to help. It's a lost casue. The platform provider says its TB. I will just contune gettin gthe links form webmail. DE Sorry IMHO they are wrong. DE The URL is incorrect as it does not conform to RFC 1738. The two characters DE that are not encoded but should be are [/] and [@]. They are reserved DE characters and are being used out of there 'reserved character' context. Further to that, TB is one of the few email clients that can be 100% trusted (in plain text view) not to change anything in the message body. If there is tampering with the URL, it is being down by a routing MTA (transit mail server) or by an anti-virus message scourer. TB has faults, but this is not one of them. -- Cheers -- Marck D Pearlstone -- List moderator and fellow end user TB! v5.0.6 on Windows 7 6.1.7600 ' pgpblbhD79PvR.pgp Description: PGP signature Current version is 4.2.42 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Re: How to copy a template
Dear David, Please try to interleave your responses and trim to context as I have done: @24-Mar-2011, 07:27 David [D] in mid:201132472749.470413@sd-e657e995c056 said: D I am going to the template I wish to copy and make the Handle D and Name the same without spaces The name is irrelevant to anyone and anything but you and your visual comfort. How you would like to see the template listed in the QT list. You can have spaces in the name with no problem. The Handle is the technical bit that is referenced in the %QUINCLUDE macro. I was trying to point out here that a handle is best without spaces. D At the top of this template I place %qinclude MyTemplate As others have said you can put %qinclude=MyTemplate or %qinclude(MyTemplate) but NOT %qinclude MyTemplate. You have to put the %qinclude call at the top of the Reply template or address book entry template or account new message template or (shudder) the folder template. This is the important bit!! Well, I'm lost now. I don't know where the template you started with came from or where the final macro call ended up. ... snip D Now if I select the whole template only the text in the cells is selected. Okay, so it's an HTML formatted template. That would be more complicated to copy into a quick template. Where is it? What is it a template for??? New Message? Reply? Account or Address book? Please answer these questions inline so we have a context and point of reference for any replies you make. D Now select a new QT and the text is put in unformatted left aligned. So - perhaps you can't just copy and paste an HTML template. I don't know. I don't use HTML in email. D Now where does the %qinclude My Template go? That's %qinclude=My Template - and you should take out the space. One of 2 places in a proper template (Account, Address book or Folder ... New Message, Reply or Forward) or while you're editing a new message, reply or forward, when you can type a QT handle and press Ctrl+Space to invoke the template in real time, which you can't do if the handle has a space in it! D If I put it in the original Where is the original, David? You still didn't tell us. ... snip D But similarly if I put it in the template I am creating it just D shows Cannot find a quick template My Template , but the D text is not formatted nor is the table created. Bill explained this one quite well. ... snip D -- - try: dashdashspacereturn -- Cheers -- Marck D Pearlstone -- List moderator and fellow end user TB! v5.0.0.151 RC1 on Windows 7 6.1.7600 ' pgpxXxAMCT55h.pgp Description: PGP signature Current version is 4.2.42 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Re: How to copy a template
Dear David, @21-Mar-2011, 22:17 David [D] in mid:2011321221734.543474@sd-e657e995c056 said: D I have successfully made up a template but now I want modify it D whilst keeping the original. I have searched through but cannot D find anyway of doing it. Here's the optimal way to use multiple template configurations in TB. Quick Templates. Use highlight the template content that you want to keep and press Ctrl-C to copy it to the clipboard. Open the Quick Templates interface. Create a new Quick Template and paste your copied template into the body. Create another new Quick Template for as many variations as you want to have. Now go back to the original template. If your Quick Template was (for example) labelled with a tag of MyQT1 then replace the entire template with a single line that reads: %qinclude MyQT1 In this way, you can set up as many templates or bits of templates as you wish and pull them into a real template with the %qinclude macro. -- Cheers -- Marck D Pearlstone -- List moderator and fellow end user TB! v5.0.0.151 RC1 on Windows 7 6.1.7600 ' pgpkjf9tYQ22P.pgp Description: PGP signature Current version is 4.2.42 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
