Yes I can confirm. I see this all the time and I am on a lot of

Speaking of George Bush Math :)

Donald Rumsfeld is giving the president his daily briefing. He
concludes by saying:

"Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed."

"OH NO!" the President exclaims. "That's terrible!"

His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously
watching as the President sits, head in hands.

Finally, the President looks up and asks,

"How many is a brazillion?"

You are correct, Richard. Just checked and the last message I got from
this group was dated 23 Sept 2005. So you are right in the fact that
it has been almost a week now.

But now that you have sent a message that has broken the chain. And I

Just kidding. But yes you are correct and there is nothing wrong with

Mine is not empty either. I have attached an export of the Thawte Cert
for you, but I don't know if that is really advisable or not. You can
go to the same place you directed me to and at the bottom left side
there is a IMPORT button. I guess you just import the attached

Sure Marten, here's what I posted yesterday to Admin about this.

But Admin said he had it all set up correctly also. Anyway here's my
setup:

In The Bat!, go to Account/Properties/Transport

Make sure you have the following set up:

Send Mail:

 Server: smtp.gmail.com
 Authentication: SMTP Authentication Checked
Specific Settings: User Name and Password
Connection: Secure to Regular Port (STARTTLS)*
 Port: 587

Receive Mail:

 Server: pop.gmail.com
 Authentication: Regular
 User:
 Password:
Connection: Secure to Dedicated Port {TLS)*
 Port: 995

 * These are the 2 settings that I had to mess with the most.

I am not for sure about the Address Book Certificate thing. I didn't
do that to get the Gmail accounts to work. But I did have some issues
that may be the problem.

First off, you have it set up in Gmail to allow POP Access, Right?

Next in The Bat!, go to Account/Properties/Transport

Make sure you have the following set up:

Send Mail:

 Server: smtp.gmail.com
 Authentication: SMTP Authentication Checked
Specific Settings: User Name and Password
Connection: Secure to Regular Port (STARTTLS)*
 Port: 587

Receive Mail:

 Server: pop.gmail.com
 Authentication: Regular
 User:
 Password:
Connection: Secure to Dedicated Port {TLS)*
 Port: 995

 * These are the 2 settings that I had to mess with the most.

That should do it. That is how I have mine set up and everything is
working fine, so far. :)

Hope this helps...

Using The Bat! to retrieve Hot Mail

Hello All,

I have updated Freepops and the Hotmail.LUA, but it still does not

Does anyone have any other program that might work with The Bat!? I

Yep been using Mailbag Assistant for a few months now. I had a lot of
e-mails from my old work via Exchange Server/Outlook. Mailbag
Assistant does not handle Outlook at all. But found out that if I
convert my outlook .pst files to Outlook Express, Mailbag Assistant
will handle Outlook Express.

Very nice program and as Curtis said, The Bat! is native to Mailbag.

Got it Wayne. All set up just like your pictures now. But there are
some other settings that you might not know about. Here is a
screen shot of the mail dispatcher and how to set it up. (If you know
how to do this, I apologize for adding this)

Anyway then when you hit F2 or have your account to check the mail,
you can delete, retrieve, leave on server, etc. It is a pain if you
have it periodically check the mail, but is nice if you want to delete
message on the server.

Hope this helps. And I will continue to monitor my new setup with the
deletion during maintenance.

Hmmm I have put all my deletions on a 7 day schedule both in the
trash and the server, but that is normal operation. I tried everything
I could find to try to find the way to incorporate this 7 day deletion
in the Maintenance but no luck.

How exactly have you got it set up to delete using the maintenance

BTW, this is on my Pop account as the IMAP account keeps messages on

Sorry Wayne, I am not seeing this. Do you mean when you receive
messages via pop3 or imap, or when you run the maintenance? I am
talking about when I receive the message NOT in maintenance. Just
normal downloading. All messages that I download are removed from the
server for me.

I think something like this came up a couple of weeks ago and there is
another setting besides the folder properties being set. There is one
setting in the Account that needs to be changed also. I will try to

Allie was the one that let me know how to do this. And I use it all
the time. Like it very much as the N is close to the Space-Bar and can
read the message, page down and read the next message.

If I understand your question correctly you need to click on the
Toolbar and hit customize. In the Select Container choose the "Message
List Popup Window (Pop-up)" and in the Current Items on the right
select "Move to Next Unread". That should show you the Hotkeys
available and if you are like me, I added the "N" to the list.

Then you need to do the same for "Message View Pane Pop-up Window
(Pop-up)" and under the View Pane section with the "Message List
Pop-up Window (Pop-up). I think that is all the ones I ended up doing
but hopefully Allie will be able to correct me if I am wrong. :)

Thanks also from me, Alexander. I too use K9 and had the "Spam" added
to the Subject. Then when I got Non-Spam mail or replied to a message
that K9 had classified as Spam, was kind of embarrassing.

Anyway this way is so much cleaner looking and K9 even had the option
to add the "X-Text-Classification: Spam" already built in. Just added
the Filter to The Bat! and working like a charm.

I had read on this list about this very subject and have it all set up
just as you mentioned. I use that most of the time to reclassify all
the messages not right. I think I have been using that feature for
about a month now, right after installing and using the Bat!

But I do thank you for you reply and suggestions. I am still learning
and liking the Bat! more and more each day. All the great information
from this list has helped me a lot. Maybe someday I will be
knowledgeable enough to help someone else. :)

Good Idea. Exactly what I was thinking when I kept see the replies

Guess I am going to have to figure out how to do that without too much

You and Gerard are a great help. After working around the two

I was expecting to see the pop server active in x-ray when I changed
everything over to what Roelof mentioned. It never does show up, but
that didn't mean it wasn't working, which it was. Ended up putting a

 active. Which is fine.

X-Ray is working perfectly as expected. Just have to figure out what
I want to do with it now. :)

Again thanks to all that helped out and even with my wrong date and

I believe that the easiest and fastest way to do this is, drop the
message in the OUTBOX, edit the Subject line, and then move it back to
the inbox. From there you can process the message as you want.

I found this out on this list. Very handy way to do it. Don't think
there is another way.

X-Ray?

2004-11-08 Thread Michael Acklin
Hello All,

I downloaded X-Ray yesterday after reading a few people using it
and I had a few questions. (Hopefully this is not too far off topic
as it is related to The Bat!)

I have PopFile set up on my localhost on port 8080 on 3 of my
accounts. I have Freepops set up on another account with localhost
   on port 2000.

I have looked everywhere to find out what port X-Ray uses, but all
I can find is port 110 for POP3 and 25 for SMTP.

I have the SMTP working, but with my PopFile on three of the
accounts, it doesn't look like I can use X-Ray for incoming mail.

Is there anyone familiar with x-ray and adjusting the Pop3 Ports? I
have looked at the help pages and it is all concerning using the
default ports with nothing in between the e-mail client and the
   Pop3 server.

I guess I could adjust PopFile to come after X-Ray, but wanted to
ask others before attempting such a configuration.

Thanks in advance as I know all you are very good at help people
   out.

Sorry about that. I am running Windows XP Pro and not running dual

Menu Pulldowns Blank

2004-10-31 Thread Michael Acklin
Hello all,

I am having a problem with my Menu Pulldowns. I don't think this is
associated with The Bat! itself because it happens with other
programs, but not all.

When I click on any of The Bats! menus, the pulldowns are completely
invisible. But if I move the mouse down the list, the items begin to
show up. If I close the menu pulldown, then open it again, the same
thing happens.

I have never seen this before and was wondering if any one else has
seen this and know of a remedy. The only thing I have done since this
started was added 512 meg of Ram to my machine. Is there something I
need to do to let the system refresh? When I do a System/About/System
Info it shows the added memory just fine.

If anyone has seen this before please let me know how to fix it.
Thanks...

I just tried it both ways, with and with out the
Account/Properties/Templates/Forward (Forward messages as attachments
- Mime Standard).

What I got was, with it UNCHECKED, like you the 1.eml, which wasn't
what I was expecting. But when I CHECKED the box, I got a message with
my Forwarding Template in one tab and the other tab message.html.

I have no way of checking the actual message for sure, but I believe

I think I had this same problem with the filter only doing one

But you are correct. I have seen that many times when I try to

fine.

I am not sure this is the same problem you are having but I use The
Bat! with my fastmail.fm account. I was not familiar at all with IMAP
accounts. In fact I couldn't even spell IMAP

When I first started using it, I created the new account with the
default setting that The Bat! had set up. I was getting weird messages
in the folders with numbers, *, and <*>. I didn't know for sure what
all this was.

Later on I right clicked on the account (you can also get there by
Account/Preference) and at the bottom of the menu is preferences. I
clicked on that and it brought up a new window. In there is a
selection called "IMAP Fine-Tune". I played around with the settings
(in fact I have them all checked now) and now the IMAP account is
acting like I want it to.

As I said, this might not be the same problem you are having, but it
has helped my with my IMAP Account. Now I can spell IMAP :)

Hope this helps...

I have the same problem with 4 accounts. The main account checks fine
and as I was watching the other accounts, they timed out.

I view the accounts on the connection manager.

This is with Popfile also. There is no activity at all on the other
accounts until the first one finishes.

I guess you could change the "Timeout" time for the other accounts so
they don't time out before checking. Not for sure but will give it a
try and see what happens.

Or you could set up to check the main account upon Startup. Then check
the other accounts later on, sorta stager them.

Will try out both and see what is the best way to go.

This is getting really weird. I had everyone's Rogue's pic working
fine, even Paul's. After everyone started talking about the Smiley's I
downloaded those and installed them.

The Smiley's weren't working for me so I wrote Mary off list, just to
make sure to not bother the list with this question. Mary replied and
I had the Rich Text Viewer turned off and after turning that on, I can
now see the Smiley's.

But now my problem is I can see just about everyone's Rogue Pic,
except Paul's. What does Paul have different that I can not see his
Pic.

And Thanks Alex, I got your's and Lynn's pic and the rogue.msl file
and see both of your pics. (Now we are going to have to get Sean Rima
and David Dickerson's Pic as I just got a notice that they had been
added.)

Hi Marck,

I have the rogue setup to notify me when ever the rogue.zip is
modified and got 2 notifications this morning. But when I tried to
download the rogue.zip file, I get a "Black Widow" pic and the page
says "Go Away". I tried going to the Rogue Home page and download the
file that way but got the same Black Widow.

Is the person that takes care of this modifying the file and it is not
available? or am I having a bad day :)

Has anyone been able to download the rogue.zip lately say this morning
after 14:00 GMT?

Thanks for the help all...

Welp, No luck on this end.

I placed the \rogues directory in the Bat! directory and the
rogues.msl file in the Bat! directory. But no luck with the Sig Pic
showing up. I have the Sender Photo/Display Photo checked in the
Header pane.

It looks like the rogues.msl is a macro of some kind but do not know

I just checked today and there is a new version of PGP available.
Version 8.1 and is working great so far.

Believe or not, I used to use PGP 2.6, the command line version of PGP
when it first came out. In fact I still have some RSA Keys attached to
my Keyring that are still functional. :)

Long story behind PGP and is very interesting if you ever get to read
the history of PGP.

Anyway, if you get a chance to download PGP 8.1, you can update your
current version that way. And BTW, I have been using PGPDisk for many
years also. :)

Yes, mine is the same as yours, I belive.

I just checked all of Roelof's e-mail and before verifying them the little
mark in the upper right hand corner was a question mark with a kind of
olive drab circle around it.

As soon as I verified the signature, it tuned to a Check mark with a bright

Hi Cristina,

I believe you are referring to the PGP/GPG/Authenticating Signature of
the posts. Like mine is a PGP Signature and if you have PGP (Pretty
Good Privacy) installed you can check the validity of the message by
checking the signature.

As for the other ways to check, I am not very familiar with, but I am

No it won't, Pat. At least for me, each account had to be set up to
use the junk mail. I presently have 4 accounts I monitor and I have 4
different Junk Mail Filters. I guess you could set up a Virtual
Folder and review/delete them that way. Haven't tried that yet.

But to answer your question, as far as I know, each account has to be
set up separately for the Junk Mail to be work properly.

 Hope this helps...

Pat,

When I installed the plug-in, the program itself created the Junk Mail
itself so I didn't have to create them. Once you start getting Junk
Mail it will create the folder. That is as long as you have it
configured that way. :)

I too am running 3.0.0.0 and I do have the AVG Plugin loaded. Look in
your AVG Directory for the Plug-in, that is where I found mine.

Hope this helps...
