Ok, as soon as you have it figured out, upload it here, overwriting the
current wordpress.pot file (ensure that you select overwrite):
http://pootle.locamotion.org/templates/wordpress/

Then you can visit your translation of wordpress here:
http://pootle.locamotion.org/gd/wordpress/
... go the files tab and update it to the new POT file.

I also added VLC for your language.

Ok. I assume you saw that the full VLC is really large.

Do you mean translation memory? If you want to translate online on
Pootle, your best bet would be to look into the way it supports
terminology:
http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/pootle/terminology_matching

For the best translation memory, I can recommend Virtaal, which supports
terminology, translation memory and other features:
http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/virtaal/index

You will be able to import any .po files from Mozilla into Virtaal's
translation memory for reuse. If you use the very latest virtaal 0.7
(currently in beta), it can even use online translation memories which
should require even less configuration.

I hope that gives you a few options.

Keep well

Might as well go for the full VLC then, and WordPress.

By the way, is Pootle capable of doing a bit of magic to extract any
matching strings from the translated Mozilla stuff?

Hi Michael

Sorry for the delay.

VLC and Minimal VLC are both just VLC. The one project on Pootle has a
reduced file that tries to cover the most important/visible stuff only
and is therefore incomplete. More information here:
http://translate.org.za/blogs/friedel/en/content/trimming-vlc-translation
So Minimal VLC is based of the VLC template of a few months ago (so
hopefully not all that out of date).

Both VLC and WordPress was part of the Decathlon project. Tony has since
then taken the responsibility to keep that template up to date, so that
seems only a few days old. If someone can do the same for WordPress,
that would be ideal to ensure that people can keep up to date with the
latest POT file.

With this in mind, I guess you will want to choose either VLC or Minimal
VLC, not both. I don't think the WordPress template is up to date, but
if we just get the latest POT file, it is easy to get it up to date.

So if you indicate how we move forward, I can hopefully have you set up
quickly.

Friedel kindly added Scots Gaelic to the list of languages on the 5th,

Yeah I can pull them if they're in Mozilla. Although I only really want

Our files are in PO format so there's a bit of work to covert things
from Mozilla to PO. I'm not sure it's that helpful as a backup since
your translations seem to be in Mozilla Mercurial repo already. As a

I'm not too worried about pushing them to Mozilla - as i said before I'm

Narro is a bit of a one man band just now and I'd like a backup for my

Hi Michael

I added your language to Pootle, and added Scottish Gaelic to the Pootle
project:

http://pootle.locamotion.org/gd/pootle/

If you register and select gd as your language in the preferences, an
administrator can easily give you administrative rights for the
language.
