What's long is porting all the improvements we've done to Lightning. When we did the changes back in Lightning 0.9, we submitted all of them to Mozilla for inclusion. Not all of them were included (lack of time from their side). Our patches then bitrotted. When we ported them again to Thunderbird 3.1, we resubmitted patches but again, not all of them were included and they bitrotted again. We're now pretty much down to three patches to be included so we don't have to modify Lightning again. Those are: 1. refresh killer: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=502936 2. offline mode support: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=380060 3. hooks / stubs mechanisms: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=586276 The last one will allow us to move our ACL code directly in the SOGo Connector/Integrator extensions. So we won't have to modify Lightning anymore. That being said, those 3 bugs should be fixed for Lightning 1.0. You should all vote on the bugs so the patches finally get included. Lightning 1.0 will most likely require Thunderbird 7. If that's the case, that's the version we'll support after 3.1. Impressive work you are doing, thanks a lot! A small question about the native outlook support: - In normal sogo installations we can host multiple completely isolated domains on one server Will this also be true for the outlook access ? The reason I ask is: MS hosted exchange is basically one exchange installation in one domain, and the access is then restricted with (more or less) sophisticated rules in ADS, and giving several sorts of problems. For example not each domain has it's own public folder structure, but there is one public folder structure with one (numeric) subfolder per domain. The access is then restricted by some ACL for the domains. André -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists

Re: [SOGo] Suggestions for T'bird and multiple shared inboxes?
I think you have two things: - If you wish to access other users mailboxes via imap you just have to share the corresponding folders. This gives you then access to these via any imap client. But what you don't get is the whole setup for reply as the other users mailbox. - If you need to answer as the other user (with his signature etc.) then this is very different, depending on you mail client. For thunderbird is simplest to just configure multiple accounts. That way TB always uses the correct sender, place in the sent-item of that user and so on. André Am 21.06.2011 12:23, schrieb Ed W: Hi, here we have users with their own personal inbox, and then several commonly accessible mailboxes for support@ and sales@ email addresses. The main requirement is that replies to each email go back out with the reply address the same as the incoming (user@, support@, sales@ or whatever). Additionally that the reply is placed in the inbox with the incoming message (gmail style) At the moment we manage this by getting each user to add all the accounts to their Thunderbird instance, ie setup each as a separate account. Then they carefully configure each email account to set the correct Sent Items settings, Trash settings, reply address, signature, etc. This is quite time consuming to setup a new user - does anyone have some suggestions on how else we might achieve the same end result more easily? Perhaps either Sogo has some functionality to assist with setting up shared folders to the sales@, support@? I use Dovecot as our mailserver, perhaps it's shared folders have some feature which can be leveraged? The main issue I see with Thunderbird is getting the correct reply addresses on emails and placement of the Sent messages - this appears not to work the same for shared folders vs adding lots of accounts into Thunderbird? In practice we have 6-10 accounts per user.. (Perhaps someone simply has a scripted way to add accounts to Thunderbird?) A minor benefit would also be being able to login to the web component of Sogo and having access to all inboxes there in one go? Same also for easier access to (what is in practice 6-10 accounts) via iPhone/Pad and Android devices... Thanks for any thoughts on how others solve this problem? For android the caldav/carddav apps seem very promising, but that isn't a solution for blackberry/symbian/windows phones. Last weekend I decided to start writing a new caldav/carddav backend for Z-Push. The problem with the already existing backend is that it's based on an older Z-Push version and it's license in incompatible with newer Z-Push versions, meaning that it will stay a fork forever. Combined with the reports that it doesn't really work very well, I decided to start from scratch using the caldav client and ical library from davical and libawl-php. I also did start with some tests in z-push and sogo, but did stop because of the buggy activesync client of my HTC desire. Even using the HTC Desire against a real Exchange 2010 server gives a lot of problems. There exist third party active sync clients for android, but these maily replace the known HTC problem with their own problems :( And if you google a bit for active sync, then you see also a lot of other phones with active sync problems. This is why I stopped working on the z-push way for integrating android. I didn't want to announce this project yet, because I don't really have much code yet, but since we're talking about client integration anyway I thought I would share it. Currently calendar items synchronisation from server to client works, with the exception of recurring appointments. My current plan is to implement recurring appointments and one-way contact sync'ing and then setup a project somewhere to publish the code. For some of our clients a active sync solution would be great. For HTML mails via ActiveSync you have to support the AS 12 protocol version, which the free z-push does not (or only some forks of it) :) Relay nice to see multiple client connections, so SOGO can cover all needs ;) André -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists

CardDAV can do a two-way-sync, CalDAV can sync from server to client only (currently). Both apps are in pre beta or beta state. As I mostly need them to sync my sogo changes to my android the one-way-sync is not a problem to me. May be it is worth a try? Currently he is working hard on the two-way sync. It works quite good and also supports multiple calendars and address books (Something syncml like funambol are not doing) And he is also thinking about support for todo in the form of astrid task integration... Also the solution: Replace keySOGoMemcachedHost/key stringlocalhost/string by keySOGoMemcachedHost/key string127.0.0.1/string worked. The real solution however is to make sure memcached is listening on all localhost interfaces. In debian squeeze we find in /etc/memcached.conf -l 127.0.0.1 (Only listen on ipv4 loopback) In squeeze localhost can (and often is) also be ::1 (ipv6) So the best solution is to change the listen parameter in /etc/memcached.conf from 127.0.0.1 to loopback. But I think that's right... it is doing a search of contacts against what is typed and if I'm trying a character a second, once a second it does a new search with the updated info. The main issue is why t-bird drops characters I type while this is happening. I just added another global (readonly) sql addressbook and things seemed to get worse... even though this db has only one entry in it. As long as you identify each calendar distinctly by using its SOGo Caldav URL, it is able to successfully sync events back and forth and generally works nicely. However, if you have recurring events of any sort in your calendar, it gets completely messed up. The recurring events Vcalendar data is not parsed properly and show up in weird ways in the calendar. This is called out as a limitation on the hypermatix page and was the single biggest reason that I was unable to avoid Google. Re: [SOGo] How to start funamboladmin
Just install on your desktop (No matter if it's Windows XP) and then connecto to the funambol server. Of course the firewall(s) must allow this connection André Am 22.09.2010 13:47, schrieb M. Stoffers: Hi again ;) Now I have trouble with funamboladmin. I'm setting up the funambol server as described in chapter 7. I came till the point where it says: To do so, start the Funambol Administration Tool using the following command: Here I'm wondering which user account I should be logged in. - As unprivileged user I get a lot of java.io.IOException: Permission denied - As root I get X11 connection rejected because of wrong authentication. java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class sun.awt.X11GraphicsEnvironment (the latter twice) - A lot of files in /opt/Funambol have uid=gid=504, though there is no user/group with those ids. So I created funambol:funambol as 504:504 and su'd into that account. However, I got a combination of the exceptions of unprivileged and root :( So do I have to run it as root? Do I have to allow X11-Fwd for root? Or is there a more elegant way? (An ncurses version of funamboladmin would be fine :P ) Thanks Mirko -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists

[SOGo] Release of next version ?
Hello, we are currently at 1.2.2 with our server and are intending to upgrade soon to the 1.3.x versions. According to the bugtracker almost all issues for 1.3.1 are solved, can we expect a release in the next days or are other things going to delay the next release somewhat longer ?
