I am in the process of upgrading my ITSM 7.6.4 system to 8.1, and I read BMC's
documentation on dealing with overlays but there is something that I'm not
clear on and wanted to come to the list for assistance.
I have added five fields to CHG:Infrastructure Change. T

Thank you Lisa
I have been using that manual, just a little cumbersome when looking for
specific topics unless you know exactly the key words that will get you
where you want to be. A separate manual kind of limits the results.

we bring custom apps and functions over to our ITSM environment we use
Custom and Overlay as appropriate.
Because our "old" 7.6.04 system is in the process of being replace we are
not using overlays. We do not expect it to move past 7.6.04. Primarily to

This week I experienced great joy when we completed our 'play' server upgrade
from v7.5, oracle 10g, solaris to v8.1, oracle 11g unicode, on linux, also
installing mid tier for the first time.

This week I experienced great joy when we completed our 'play' server upgrade
stuff.
Being in a custom object bypasses all of that overlay stuff, and being you
aren't dealing with base mode and base objects, you shouldn't be dealing
with overlays and all of the complications related to that anyway.
This is a simple process of highlight one/many objects, right click
age banner just a bit since it seemed to
squash up a bit cutting off the bottoms of the 'p' in the wording. But
couldn't make any changes in the 8.1 dev tool.
Ah yes, overlays. I didn't realize that the system is 'locked' for changes
until you make a decision. The
y strong plan in place to still
keep moving in a good direction after sacrificing an ace..
