The stigma of Asbury Park being dangerous continues.
You mean like yesterdays shootings?
And you are so right about the stigma. Since I went to OMR the other day, and
raved about
it to my out of town friends, all I heard was;
I'm scared to go to AP
Weren't you afraid of parking your car there

My wife, daughter, and I dined there (OMR's)last nite after visiting
the Arcade and Under The Sun. We had a window seat overlooking the
sidewalk. There was very little foot traffic. Hopefully, in the not too
distant future, the streets will be alive with passers-by.
The service was excellent.
Tough Stringy - well I guess you answered your own question.

Believe me, i've done the same kind of thing.
Still and all, people are scared of the city.
It's hard to get rid of a 30 year old bad reputation when it comes to crime.
You can build nice restaraunts, stores, and condos...but people won't come
unless they
feel safe, and that's the bottom line.
I guess it's a matter of taste.
I hate it with a passion.
I gave it a chance, but I still think it's horrible.
And your comment about it being a destination illustrates a point close to my
heart.
In my opinion, living in a culture where a horrible piece of architecture
becomes a
destination
Hinge,
You're far from alone in hating it. Success or not, many people
think it's extremely ugly and sterile - especially for something
right next to the beach.

Hinge,
You're far from alone in hating
as one restaraunt guy in Pier V. was overheard saying to a worker
= ...people don't come here because the foodthey are paying for
the view
He's successful despite himself.
