I assure you our office power is about as heinous as it gets, with air
conditioners and dozens of computers flat-topping the AC. If I have
time tomorrow I'll measure and

From personal experience:
1. Linear PSU with analogue outs is big improvement over stock
2. Standard PSU with external DAC is big improvement over stock
3. Linear PSU with external DAC is big improvement over stock and
smaller (but noticebale) improvement over mods 1 and 2.

Sean- That would be great. It would be neat to see what your power
looks like compared to mine. I think I have pretty good power in my
home and I have looked at it on the scope, but alas I don't have a
scope with the resolution that lil' bad boy has.
How could you test to see if the AC noise

SlimDevices do not announce products, or even talk about them, until
they are released. This has been their policy for as long as i can
remember (back to the SliMP3 days). The high end version is just a
rumour, and will stay that way until you can actually buy one, if it
ever happens at all.
From reading a lot of opinions on the subject, it seems to me that
high-end systems benefit most from including an external DAC. I guess
my gear is somewhat midrange: Cambridge 640A amplifier, System Audio

This is something that only you can answer. You're the one who will be
listening to the device. Let me say this:
Sean, at that bit rate (2.8224Mbps), one period is 354 ns. Obviously
that is several orders of magnitude greater than the jitter rates you
gave. I had always thought (or been told) that samples could occur at
any time during a clock cycle, which would mean the jitter should be on
the order of the

There is no difference in sound quality between server side and client

formats should sound the same (ie good).

audiophile point of view, the SB is on par to the mid and upper mid

All very interesting and backs up my theory that the problem with the
stock SB PSU is NOTHING to do with the SB itself - rather, it's the
effect it has on other components.
Obviously, YMMV.

Well - the internal DAC is very, very good but can be bettered - at a
price. If I were you, with that system, I'd worry about other things
rather than the DAC.

BB - I think we are basically agreeing.
I am not a fan of v. expensive interconnects/mains cables etc - but I
