It's not the case -- there is ample bandwidth to stream multiple more
amounts of SB3's on one 802.11g network.
Can you explain where your knowledge of the stream sync comes
Only you can answer that, of course, but I hope this may help:
Squeezeboxes don't allow FF and RW in ALAC. They do allow it for .wav, .aiff,
and .flac. ALAC is therefore not as flexible for SB as .aiff (or the others),
although of course it is great for iTunes and iPods, and for keeping storage

In SqueezeBox Server, under Player settings|Audio, look for Bitrate
limiting.

Just to cover the very obvious, you can rip your cd's to loseless and
stream wirelesly to transporter. Isn't it the point of the gear pursued
at this forums to do away with cables ? What would be the advantage of
whay you are trying to do ?

Personally I'd use the CD player plugin for SBS and use the optical
drive in the serving computer.

..for the SoX filters I gave links above I definitely heard the
difference
BTW, which filter is used by Transporter itself?

Yes Mark, it does claim only 128kps, but check it out because the sound
quality and clarity really seems so much better. To me it is much better
than other services. Add a piece from Classical.com and the same piece
from another service to a playlist and compare for yourself and let me
know what

You are probably right, I did not want to come across as smarty pants,
sorry if I did... But what would be the reason to use a standalone

Thanks for the quick response. My setup uses the Primare SPA21 as my

coaxial cable and it sounds very good to me.

The high-end (expensive) digital is becoming harder and harder to
justify as time passes.
Network digital sources crushed CD drives.
Affordable D/A converters are approaching dangerously the quality of
older high-end dacs.
It seems as if the market of digital sources is being compressed:
I'd have to say that the defaults are ideal. You really have to
understand what's going on under the hood to change them. So much is
dependent on a combination of the OS of the system running the server,
the players being streamed to at any given moment, syncing, file
bitrates and resampling,

Out of curiosity i tried one. The input on the left is a resampled
fullscale impulse with pre-ringing. I tried one of the suggested methods
on that impulse rate -v -M -a -b 85 88200 sinc -M -t 1 44000-22000
The timescale is the same, at least as near i was able to fit them in
Audacity. So indeed

Yes, If someone brings a CD over for a listen or the kids want to play
a CD downstairs, then this would be the simplest and quickest solution.
