Apparently, that only works for Amd Athlon 64 *FX* chips. I have an AMD
Athlon 64.
Now..articles that talk abotu the memory interchange At
Try unplugging all ATAPI and IDE drives if you haven't already. When
the ribbon connector is not seated correctly you will get similar
results (or lack thereof) to what you are getting.

mechanism pressing the fan assembly etc. to the CPU.
So...if its in that tight and not 'seated' right its totally fried. And

Ok..got a 500W power supply..Allied power this morning from a local
retail store.
Going to install it into the machine now and see how things go.
Also got a USB2.0 PCI card for my office PC, for use with the external
hard disk.

So..that power connector is not just for stability.
Without it the damned processor won't power up ;-)

Ok. I got that off. It was tough. I had to use two screwdrivers and press in at different points in other to get it to push out. I don't think it can be used again :-\
The new one fit in a lot easier though.
I'm onto the processor now. Reading through the big leaflet that came with the athlon abo
Some of them are pretty tough. They can take a bit of effort. As far as I
know, they all push inwards to come off.
