There are bushings/bearings inside the column but the problem is going to be finding the components. Classic Muscle shows a few components still available but most say call or discontinued. Guess its possible that once you have the unit apart, you could match the components to an off the shelf

What you need to do now is with ign in run, go to the senders unplug them and check for voltage at the plug. Either with a voltmeter or test light. This is checking continuity from the gauges to the sender’s plugs. If you have continuity then there is a grounding issue. If you have no voltage
