Why would you have 3 msfc's in one chassis? Seems like a waste of money to
purchase a 6506 and fill it with 3 sups to then just use it as a Layer 2
box.

cdp) and then import it in to RME. Of course everything in ANI Server setup
needs to be correct. Have you gone into RME and checked the device
attributes? This will show you any errors between RME and the device in

have a student and a staff domain. Some closets have one 4006 and some have
two depending on how many drops terminate in the closet.

Currently using CW2k... upper management wants something that shows uptime
(no problem), but also exactly how long any downtime is.
I can't think of anything that will dispaly this... any ideas would be much

I actually did this a few months back and it worked fine... although you
will get speed and duplex errors on the 6500 even if they're manually set
(at least with the Cabletron 9000 series switch). It didn't have any ill
results so no big deal.

It looks like you have the switch set up as the DHCP server itself (not a
Microsoft DHCP server or other PC?) which appears to be in vlan 4 with the
following command:

If it's not setup on the server I would remove that command above and see
what happens.. that's prob
Just sess 15 (or 16 if you have two) and go to town... Use a tftp server
like Pumpkin... make sure you have enough memory, etc as well as researching
the bug list out there on the IOS that you want to use.

One thing I do is enable Port Host which not only enables Portfast, but
disable the default auto-neg for trunking and channeling. Also, make sure
your dia is set right for STP.

What's up! I've got a 6509 with a VLAN int that has a crossover going to our
old Cabletron MMAC. (we're in the process of upgrading and have most of the
network still on the MMAC side of the house).. here's my dilemma...

2924-XL's that we just got in. I was upgrading the ios and was tryng to
check the flash with "sh dir" and nothing... as soon as I plugged in the

I would definitely recomend NOT using any Auto Negotiation between users and
any of your switches as I have experienced problems with this as well.
Another cool command to use is PortHost, which combines PortFast while
turning off EtherChannel and trunking negotiation all at the same time.

I just got my copy of CW2000LMS (5 packages total) and the documentation
recomends a gig of memory when installing all of them.
I played around with it in the test bed with just a few of the packages and
512mb and did notice how slow it was. Pretty frustrating.

EtherChannel for that matter as it used between switches. I would try and
