I would use another TFTP program. I started off using the Cisco TFTP server and then started running into large problems when upgrading 3660's. Timeouts and errors etc. I changed to use pumpkin (freeware) and things have never been better. The same copy that failed previously works great done

Well, that's basically how TFTP works on Unix-style systems. You have to first create the file (i.e., 'touch cisco-confg'), then give everyone write permissions to it (i.e., 'chmod 666 cisco-confg') before it can be written by the TFTP server. As far as I know, there's no way to circumvent that

Charles, I know this sounds dumb, but I have caught myself trying to TFTP something from a router to my computer when the TFTP server software hasn't even been launched. The router would the generate the timeout message you were getting. After you launch the TFTP sw you can just minimize it.
