I upgraded to 2.4.10-1mdk last night, and tried to setup the OSS (4FronTech).
The setup went fine, and the insertion/initialization of the modules too; but

Well I have to agree on this one to a large extent. RPMs can be a real pain.
However, once you get the hang of them, they are easier than installing from
source.
I seldom have problems with RPMs 'not installing right'. As far as conflicts
go, the key is in understanding the output. There are

complaint.
But there is a problem.
Anyone who uses WP8 needs ld.so-1.9.11-4mdk which ldconfig overwrites.
Knowing this the fix is simple, reinstall ld.so-1.9.11-4mdk, but most would
not even know what was causing the problem

I have an Intel L440GX motherboard with onboard Adaptec SCSI controller.
When I try to install 8.1, it hangs when starting the aic7xxx driver. This
seems like the exact
problem that I had when I tried to install RedHat 7.1.
