I have a homebrewed RV-7 substitute that I just tried on 40M CW. There is no
change in the displayed frequency on the TR-7 if the RV-7 is in control. If I

I don't think aluminum foil makes good gasketing material for two reasons.
At least in this country, the shiny side of the foil is coated with Mylar
which is nonconducting. In addition, aluminum oxide is an insulator as well.

George, I had a similar experience with an R-4C that still had the 6EJ7 third
mixer. However, the noise was from the IF Amplifier, V5, a 6BA6. New tube in
and the intermittant solar storm noise was gone.

. I suspect it was in storage for a
period of time in a damp environment. The chassis does not show any pitting or
signs of deterioration due to humidity which one might expect with the presence
of the odor.
Has any one else come across this kind of problem and found a solution for same?

The culprit...80 meter crystal.
The transmitted frequency on 80 is 10-11 kHz lower than it should be
compared to the crystals on the other bands. Are there trimmers that
adjust the crystal frequencies?

can't stand it any longer.

Tom - I don't know the number produced, but the original TR-7 was sold
without the Digital Display. At that time the DR-7 was an option.
This was quickly changed to what we know now.
