The K3 has values of reactance which are smaller in size than the KAT500.
Therefore there are some instances of antenna and frequency where the KAT500

Thank you all. I think I will make a call to elecraft tomorrow. But Mr.
Brown is running legal limit fine. Ok just wanted to ask.
Thanks All

Yes, for SWR of about 3:1 or better, it's good for USA legal limit. I'm
running two KAT500s with Ten Tec Titan 425 legal limit amps into
antennas that don't need a lot of tuning. The
I suspect that the power handling is not really dependent on the SWR, but rather on the
nature of the impedance that gives rise to that SWR (the resistance and both the magnitude
and the sign of the reactance).
One antenna system showing a 3:1 SWR might produce high voltages and low currents in
Yea, I meant KAT500. Ok I saw it would do 1000 at 3-1 but was curious about
1500.
Thanks

You must mean KAT500, and I don't think so. At least I wouldn't try it.
I think it will handle anything the KPA500 will make [~700W], after
all, this *is* Elecraft, and that's what

It's not that critical. Just 11 to 14 volts or so at an ampere max. The
positive is the center of the coaxial DC power connector.

Hi all,
I just put together a KAT500 and would like to be sure of this last step of
supplying power to it.
I'm have the 18AWG Rg Angle cable shipped with it which plugs into the
11-15 VDC on the back of the KAT500. However, I'm not exactly sure if I
have the right power for it. My power supply is

Hi,
Sure, the wireless connection is using a Lantronix WiFi serial server. I
think they have only model, but I don't have the model number in my head.
I'll look it up when I get home. It supports two serial ports as you can see
in the pictures. Note that the serial connection over the Lantronix an

inside in the way of a wireless device and how is it controlled? 73, Rich,

Hi,
Yes, the power supply is overkill but I don't have anything between tiny and
noisy walwarts and that size. The power supply was evicted from the shack
anyway because of the fan noise (acoustic, electrically that PS is very
quiet), so it was just sitting there anyway. No other gadgets not visib
Knut - It looks good to me. Isn't that MFJ power supply a bit
large for the power requirements of the equipment you have
attached to it? Or do you have some high-power piece somewhere
out of the photos?

Hi all,
It's been quiet on the KAT500 front lately. Finally the weather has been
agreeable enough for me to tidy up my hasty December installation. Here are
some pictures after spring cleaning. If you think it's messy now, you should
have seen it before.

Hi,
I have had such an installation since last November and it's working
extremely well. We have had temperatures well below 0F and it does not seem
to affect it noticeably at all. I control it with a wireless serial server
so the only wiring is coax and a 115V extension cord. See here for a coupl
Several months ago I recall seeing updates from someone who had remotely
mounted a KAT500 outside in a waterproof enclosure. I haven't seen any news
on this and was wondering how it's going. Has anyone heard?
