do recall certain situations where manual
property notification is necessary. I'll have to read into it more to
clarify -- can't do that at the moment. I do plan to add a couple of
functions for sending X client messages to ecore_x, that may or may not
help matters.

This is a known issue which I have personally experienced. The Evas GL
engine is still unsupported so if I were you I wouldn't count on a fix
anytime soon. :)
