Low maintenance is the key. Money is not really a problem so I'm lookin
it could be LOTS of things. it could be some sort of hardware problem like
bad ram, a screwy hard drive, CPU overheating, or a bad USB chip.
to get useful help you'll want to come up with as much detail as you can:
is there any pattern to the crashing?
what software are you running?
what are you
there is a way to drop into the adaptec card's BIOS on startup. poke around
and see if any settings look funny (use your best judgement). there is a
tool in there which shows you what it can see on the scsi bus. check for
termination / device # problems.

I was able to get data out of Filemaker Pro on a mac and import it into
MySQL. I exported as a comma separated text file.

Your problem is with user permissions. I'll bet the web server is set up
just fine.
What you need is a user who is privileged to access the web documents
folder.

create a new user joe
create a new group webusers
add user joe to group webusers

Shutdown says it looks in /var/run/utmp to see if the 'authorized user'
listed in /etc/shutdown.allow is logged in.
Now /var/run/utmp sounds suspiciously like something that disappears every
time you restart. So...

I have ht/dig installed and I can't get one of my virtual hosts to find the

the host has some mod_rewrite rulles, when I comment out the rules

Are you trying to log in as root by any chance? It won't let you do that.

As such your problem could be hardware related, bad ram or bad blocks on the
drive. there are probly utilities to test these but I don't konw what they
are.

I can do it easily from kfm and other GUI file browsers.
but
#rmdir won't work because the dir isn't empty
and
#rm -r puts me in "do you really want to do this?" hell.
