Update layout only updates the layout from whatever page you're on to the end of the piece. If your habit in tightening up the layout is update-tweak-advance through the pages (rather than tweak-update-advance), you might well end up with duplicate systems as you describe. mdl _

does anybody get layout work done easily with Finale? It always seems a massive trial-and-error effort. Rubber-banding the staves doesn't move them fully where I want them (it only moves them part way each time when I drag a distance), the group selection of multiple staves turns off every time I
