I would definitely, definitely avoid it. The PVR USB model is a
workable option, but USB isn't fast enough to provide raw video to
Linux.
The PVR model uses relatively low bitrate MPEG2, so it's passable, but
using a card (or a firewire/USB 2 tuner, if they exist) would be a
better option.

There is a script in helpers/ called blanking which turns it off in
the framebuffer/mga mode. If you're in X, you'll need to disable X
blanking instead.

I think Via is really charging too much for their boards. The M1000 Mini-itx
motherboard is selling for about $178 now and the processing power is
probably the equivalent to Duron 650.
A micro-atx motherboard with onboard sound, video, and lan can be purchased
for about $60 1.3GHz cpu for $35. I g
I have been lurking the last week or so on the list looking to see if anyone
has Freevo working with an HD card. I am looking at building at least a SD
version and wondered if anyone had used the WinTV-HD or the MyHD cards.

the latest mplayer versions in mplayer CVS have a (alledgedly) much
faster fbdev driver; it might be worth trying that.

Hello,
It happens sometimes with mplayer that i loose the control with the
keyboard while it's playing a file. I would not be able to do anything
with the keyboard until the file is finished. This does not happen
everytime and i don't see any error message in the logs (either mplayer or
freevo).

okay.. then you dont have the same "problem" I did ;)
got a little hint for you thow.. if it's because your symlinks you might
want to consider using
mount --bind instead.
ex.
mount --bind /mnt/smb/my/directory /usr/local/freevo/movies/my_directory
that might solve your problem. I use --bind and I

The old system didn't fit into our new event model. A list of all
possible events are in src/events.py. To change some key

Been using freevo happily for a while now, and have recently aquired a
'Winfast TV deluxe' card to make recording of tv an option.
I've stuck it into my freevo box, and loaded all the appropriate
modules, but i cant work out how to correctly setup freev
