Have taken the book to a repair shop in Bethesda MD. They are able to strart it up, but as soon as a finger touches the chasis, it shuts down. Shop thinks it may require a motherboard-extomy. They are mailing the carcus back to me and I will try the Power Manager Reset for the iBook Dual USB. T

It might be a little expensive for your purposes, but I might mention the Sony 500 or 510 units. They are not supported for the Mac but they work fine using Toast. You cannot access from iTunes and to update the firmware you must connect it to a Windows computer. I have had one for 6 months o

My daughter is calling from across the country with an iBook that this morning would not boot with the end of life battery (we are awaiting a new battery from MacMall). So over the phone we were able to get it to boot without the battery. She goes to the store and comes back to a Locked up screen.
