I've got a stange problem with PPPoE. I'm in the process of upgrading a
server to a new box and I'm trying to get the new server on the Internet
via PPPoE.
The old server works fine. I copied the config files from the old, to
the new server. When I plug the new server into the DSL mode
I don't happen to have any pcmcia card but an idea about finding the
location of pcmcia-cs drivers is to do a 'qpkg -l pcmcia-cs'. This will
give you a list of the files that were added to your system with the
pcmcia-cs package so the drivers should be somewhere in there. I hope
that helps a bit!

I found out, that the configure problem was caused by gcc. A few weeks
ago I installed gcc-3.2.3-r1 but I didn't emerge -e world. Meanwhile I
compiled lots of ebuild like Openoffice, Mozilla, etc with the new gcc
without any problems(that's why I thought an emerge -e world wasn't

under options/preferences setup the input option for CD

CD, click eject button on XMMS and you get a directory

Yes, I wasn't aware of the id command either - that would
be easier.
Not sure what's wrong now - maybe log out then log back in

I had been running gcc-3.3 for a while, but then decided to downgrade
and recompile everything since the gcc upgrade.

I stopped using ntpd and just put ntpdate in my /etc/conf.d/local.start file.
# ntpd doesn't work to well so use this for clock setting

not sure if this would stop the problem if it cannot connect to the server
If you keep having to mess with voltages that doesn't
sound like a software problem. I'd take that board back
and get another one. You had problems even with RH.

Finally figured it out. I was stuck at the boot, but found out how to
boot single user mode via grub and then removed it alla rc-update. All
is good now
I will take your advice about adding ntpdate to my local.start.
Although I think adding to Cron would be better. I'll try both.:)

I have been accumalating package files (*.tbz2)
produced by emerge whith the --buildpkg option.
Now I want to (automatically) remove the older
ones if there are different versions for the
same package.

I believe if you put 'AUTOCLEAN="yes"' in your /etc/make.conf it should
clean things up automatically.
