I'm no expert, but I'd say overlapping /dev/hda2 and /dev/hda5 is probably
an issue.
Probably should just delete /dev/hda5. You can always put it back (just

One of them might only have i586-pc-linux-gnu-gcc or i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc
installed.
I forget how to tell gcc to build itself for a different CHOST, but someone

Portage tracebacks are generally not user serviceable, unless the user is
a python hacker. Portage tracebacks can be caused by a bag argument list
(occationally) but even these are bug-report worthy.

your system was first borked the libtool files had paths like:
.../3.3.4/...
After you incorrectly ran `fix_libtool_files.sh 3.3' the paths became:
.../3.3.5.4/... (probably)
(So, you went from borked to completely borked)
To fix your problem now, you'd need to run `fix_libtool_file
d in to link that are not in the current emerge.
Then, determine what package they are in and recompile them.

time I checked and it's startup proceedure (linuxrc) is a bit complex (so,
it's harder to modify). I simply used mkinitrd by Erik Troan
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, but qpkg (and I) don't know where I got it. Again, it
doesn't support / on LVM out of the box, so I had to modify it which is
how I got to learn about initrds. :)

So, I reverted to ext3, and I will never touch reiserfs again. ext3
doesn't loose its marbles.
