We have been using VTAM/SWITCH from MacKinney Systems for over 20
years. We use the VM version that is no longer supported but it
works so we're sticking with it. It runs in GCS.
Users can access multiple sessions on VM or VSE.
I believe if you used the VSE version that you could still access

Hello Tom,
We are using CA-VTERM. I am not sure if BIM has anything.
CA-VTERM is a non-VTAM z/VM multi session manager.
But it can be
1) used as console
2) As many sessions as you want.
3) keeps all sessions active
4) dials to any place you want
5) does terminals but has restrictions

Yes, I have used CMMOUSE in the past and it is a very useful tool.
PVM would be a pretty good choice. I have a Linux agent that allows PVM to
connect to Linux guests as well.
Not that I mind having it written on the CFx disk, I do not use it on any live
system, but I seem to remember someone on this list, someone from IBM, saying
that the PARM disks were there for our use in customizing the system and that
they would not be violated by IBM. I don't remember who said
I have used MULTITERM, VTAM-SWITCH, CA-VTERM and PVM, personally I like PVM
the best. It is quite flexible and has a relatively small footprint. The
only gotcha that comes to mind is that it can require a lot of custom
scripts.. it all depends on how custom you want to make it.

Once you get connected to VM (perhaps via TN3270), there's always the FREE

Can't hurt to look at it so see if it might you need for free.

We simply use additional TN3270 sessions. It is easy to do and a hell of a
sight cheaper than VTAM.

I'm still not sure. I was able shut my test system down, where the SFS
server exists, re-ipl without RACF in the CP LOAD module.
I could not do the same to the secondary node.
This did not change anything. I am still only able to see files and
directories which are granted access to public.

I did a test today, brought down the node where the SFS server resides,
re-ipled with a CPLOAD which had no RACF in it.
Brought up the sfs server and IPgate, attempted the same connection from
the second system, still no luck. Only files and directories
