It's running Linux. GDPS proxy server for hyperswapping. I'm OK with him taking 30 seconds - the whole 4:30 is attributed to RMSMASTR (see other email) It's the 1:56:51 - 1:56:19 - 32 seconds (or 33 it reports ) that exceeds what SHUTDOWNTIME is set to in this case. It looks like a default w

I think I saw one of our systems take 78 seconds to shut down recently, but AFAIK, we don't have software to capture the shutdown messages. If I'm thinking of the right system, it has over 5000 devices.

Out of the box, RMSMASTR behaves very badly on a signal shutdown of your VM system. We have to use this to mount tapes in the VTS. RMSMASTR has files in VMSYSU: and VMSYS:, which both use signal shutdown by default. RMSMASTR hangs up the shutdown of VMSYS: until your system default shutdown t

We have 6 LPARs running z/VM 6.1.0 and only one of them does TPF hosting. While TPF hosting is the biggest expenditure of resources in that LPAR, it also has other critical applications. We never have gotten all the way down to just TPF hosting. If you count the several Linux guests that support

John, I'm not aware of the XIV requiring any particular kind of card on the processor side of the SAN. Just the standard hardware requirements, such as not mixing LX/SX ports, apply as they do for any storage subsystem. The SVC is not needed to use the XIV as an EDEVICE, and in fact a switch
