It should not make any difference where Tomcat is. By default, it
installs at /usr/local/jakarta-tomcat-5.5.1x, but you can put it in /opt

probably you have been trying to access the variable i outside the for... loop(ie.
when i is local to the for-loop). If that is the case, then you may get this error

I had to do this once... fun problem.
First of all, forget about doing it in JSP... you should use Java classes
for this.
Two ways to do it, IMO. If you have a large and flat dataset, i.e. many
records in the table but no trees
