Fujitsu SCSI drives certainly have a write protect switch/jumper, but not
the IDE range.

There should be no major difference between 1680K and 1440K reliability.
Both formats use the same number of tracks, and the same bit-density. The
only difference is
that much time ago!!! (Surely hardware uses a
different time scale)

I have found the same thing. In fact, I have yet to deply my
EigerSteinBeta2 for exactly that reason. I seem to quite frequently get
floppy errors and I'm not comfortable on its stability. Is the problem the
