believe it is important to enter the location data consistentely, so
one has to make up his mind on a way to do it.

Concerning the way I handle pictures, I open the original .tiff file in
IrphanView, and save them as .jpg (not .jpeg) in the Legacy/pictures folder.
The problem seems however to be somewhere else. Some of the descendant

Legacy views nicknames within quotes as special, and in narrative
reports you have the opportunity to have the person called by that
nickname instead of their given name. If you used brackets, that
feature wouldn't work.
But as Anne has mentioned, there is also the AKA field,
I'm running into several situations where parents apparently died and the
children were raised by other family members. In one instance the birth
record gives the names of the child's parents while her marriage record
lists different parents (probably her aunt and uncle).

this is how I handle these situations setting their realtionship to parents
as biological/adopted/foster/step as appropriate.
