time I shut down) and then on the other computer, you can restore that
back up. A GEDCOM will lose certain formatting and settings in your
file. The backup restore should make it look exactly the same.

I, too, don't want it permanently to show short locations. I usually

You don't need to uninstall Wordpad. This issue will only cause you a
problem if you willingly choose to use the program Wordpad to open up
a GEDCOM file. The workaround is to open GEDCOMs in Notepad or a word
processor like MS Word or Wordperfect.

AFter reading the other responses, you might try this. Export your
file to a Legacy GEDCOM file, open the file in a text processor, then
search for the strings you are looking for. It will take a lot of
scrolling up to find the person who has that entry, but you will find
all the instances.

unsearchable for me, I just search my emails to see if anyone else has
posted a similar question to the one I am looking for an answer.
I do not delete any of my old Legacy emails, and I have only filled 9%
of my GMAIL inbox (2.7 GB) in over a year.

What a shock to see a LUG email thread! Hooray! I guess we were all
just waiting to hear from Support, so that is why I haven't tried
posting to the list since I came back from vacation - coincidently and
conveniently I went on vacation July 6th!

used to get one message sent to the Spam folder every month or two, so
this isn't technically something new. What IS new, however, is the
quantity of LUG email being sent to the spam folder. Now it is at
least 6 or 7 emails a day.

folder - that is unusual for my GMAIL account. Have you checked your
Spam folder? (Well, I guess you checked the archives... smart!)
