Thank you Tessa for the tip. It seems to be speeding up the process.
Just have remember to turn it back on later.
I also discovered that one can combine more than one location at a time
by using the Shift or Control key.

Any location before 1776 time period should use the Colony name(s).

I guess I don't understand the reluctance to use the note field since
you only have to input it ONCE and it automatically populates the same
note for every instance in which that location name is used. Plus, it
transfers well to websites in gedcoms, etc.
