There is a global sound mute function. Use the line
"the soundEnabled=false"
to turn it off and "=true" to turn it on. (it doesn't affect QuickTime
members, though, so you will have to set their sound property to false also)

Is there anything else happening on screen? Particularly something being
animated or moving underneath the movie? (even something invisible)

Could you do what you want to do using mouseOverButton? In Director it's so
you can find out if you are over a button in a specified flash sprite.

There is no way (unfortunately) to view shockwave or Director projectors on
Linux. Macromedia hasn't yet created a plugin for Linux browsers.

Try using an mp3. The smaller file size might help.

Have you tried using lingo to preload the linked sound before it's needed?
It's probably just stuttering because it can't pull it off of the CD as fast
as it can from the HD.

when you say "it it running very slowly" do you mean that the video and/or
audio are playing badly or that the frame rate of the entire Director movie
is slow?

I haven't had any problems with Sorenson running off of CD. I would stick
with it over Cinepak simply for file size. Have you limited your data rate?
180 kps is good for 320x240. Upsizing the video is a good idea, though.
Quicktime seems to handle that really well.

Are you controlling the sound with Lingo, or using the sound as a sprite in

Unless you want to be able to edit the vectors in Director, your best bet
would be to export it as Flash and import the Flash into Director.
