The default voice is higher quality, if that voice works for you, there's little reason to use the compact voice. Original message: Hi, Folks! On the iPhone 4, what's the difference between the default voice for VoiceOver and the Compact voice? Which is better and why? Thanks in advance.

there are a few ways to do this, in the adium preferences, if you go to the events tab, you can set each event to speak, including new messages. If you're using lion, make sure you are using Alex as your voice though or this will not work correctly. I think you can also use growl for this but I

Yes, siri, and in fact any dictation speech recognition on the iphone 4s is server based, if there is a problem with the network connection or apple's servers, it will not work. How do you enable or disable siri, I'm assuming you can do this in settings? On Oct 15, 2011, at 1:32 AM, Geoff

The real issue with OCR is the restrictions Apple has placed on what developers can do, I've heard that prismo works pretty well, but there are several things developers cannot do with regard to camera focus that can be done with android and Symbian. Hopefully apple will open the camera

As far as the iphone 4 S goes, and this is just my opinion, I don't really think it's revolutionary. Ok, a faster processor and better camera, and it works with GSM and CDMA. The main interest seems to be IOS 5, which in many ways is playing catch up with android, but will be available for

Unless Apple removes some of the restrictions on the camera, a higher resolution camera will not help with OCR. Apple has limited the control developers have with the camera for doing things such as focus, zoom, etc. These are important for text recognition. On Oct 4, 2011, at 5:09 PM, Rose
